Was it when the helicopter engaged the Hulk? Because, you know, helicopter autogun rounds are a little stronger than bullets. I'm sure you're not referring to the actual cage itself, which Thor only cracked with Mjolnir.
Not neccessarily either, but the back and forth near the start of the movie with the below actress. SHIELD vehicles appearently suck. My finance told me the bullet holes in the windshields randomly appeared and disappeared between camera shots, but I wasn't paying that much attention at that point.
Quote:Also, again on casting, while Cobie Smulders was probably the strongest actress in The Avengers, she didn't seem to fit the part. Because when I think action movies, oh yeah, I think Robin Sparkles. I know there were people getting shot at, but all I was hearing was: "Let's :go to the mall...TODAY!"But is that on the casting director, or on you? If NPH was in the movie and acting his ass off, would you have been unable to see anyone but Barney?
Cobie Smulders has done next to nothing as an actress in the last decade, and only How I Met Your Mother is of any note. NPH has been around since, what, the late 80s and has proven he has some range with a variety of characters (even if he is on his "Seinfeld" phase where he's been stocking up cash on a well known TV show to coast out the rest of his days).

Go Avengers!
I look forward to getting another chance to see it.
So, what's wrong with helping Bat Dude also shatter records?

Just saw this again with my two teenagers and we had a blast. I looked for a few details that tvtropes had noticed that I hadn't on my first watching of it.
On this watching, I came away impressed again with the balancing of the characters and how each got great moments and balanced screen time. I would say that this time through Captain America really seemed more central to the story than I had thought on my first watching of it. He has a lot of great lines and shows off like a bard in an adventuring party - part of his 'superpower' is to inspire everyone else on the team to be more awesome than they otherwise could be.
Very impressive film. I may see it a third time with my wife and youngest. Never seen a movie three times at the theater before (and only a tiny number of times have even seen a movie twice), but I just might...

I saw it and actually liked it quite a bit. There were a few Whedonisms sprinkled in but they didn't ruin it for me. They did an overall good job of juggling the characters but I still agree that Cap probably got the least amount of love compared to everyone else.

Just saw it. It was fantastic!
I was kind of hoping for Ultron and the Vision for the next one but the Spoiler above works for me. :)
I really hate what Marvel has done with the Avengers in recent years and I hope we dont see the new Avengers (Wolverine, Spiderman) taking the place of the older ones in the movies. I just dont see the newer comic book roster as Avengers. Call me old-fashioned. :)

I've seen the movie twice now. I thought the casting was fantastic, the action, drama, and humor reasonably balanced, and everybody got scenes where they were doing their "thing" and being awesome. I thought the opening sequence dragged on a little too long, and I preferred the more subtle and sly Loki from the Thor movie to the "yar I smack you with my magic stick" Loki found in Avengers, but I also loathed Black Widow in Iron Man 2, and came away from Avengers liking her quite a bit, so I guess it balances out.
In regard to Whedon doing what Whedon does,
People watch this movie with their children, their significant others, their parents...and many of them come away suddenly realizing that comics and superheroes are cool, and can tell powerful stories. I know people that went to the movie with the thought, "Those guys are really hot!" and came away with the thought, "Those guys ARE really hot...and I want to read more about them!" Basically what I'm saying is that I was really excited about the movie, and I'm downright joyful that so many people, often from demographics that may not have previously been major targets of the genre, were able to share that experience. A packed theater laughing and cheering together as good triumphs over evil can be a fine moment, indeed.

One of the strengths, especially for movies, of the Avengers is its revolving membership. If an actor doesn't want to do any more movies (or heaven forbid, can't), then you can always bring in a new superhero to take their place.

With the cameo of Thanos I'm betting that they're working on a version Guardians of the Galaxy. I would prefer the original Guardians of the Galaxy not the confusing wreck that is the new Guardians of the Galaxy but movie they made would probably be a mash up of the two.
The Ant-Man movie could be folded into the Avengers 2 very easily so it will probably not be one of the unannounced two.
I would love to see Dr. Strange have his own movie, especially if they base the story off of some of the really tripy 70's Dr. Strange comics. Wizards and magic are in right now so it would have a much wider audience than it normally would have.
Let us not forget the possibility of a Nick Fury/Shield movie. They introduced the gadgetry, potential villains/plot and supporting cast in the Avengers. It would be so easy to expand on those, and Marvel would have the bonus of Samuel L. Jackson fronting the entire thing.

Doctor Strange might not fit in well with Marvel's movie continuity. All magic in them is really just super-advanced science. It's hard to do a guy called the Sorcerer Supreme without having actual magic in the world.
They've already made mention of Dr. Strange in the Marvel movie universe. Jonah Jameson referenced him when they were brainstorming a cool villain name for Dr. Otto Octavius in Spiderman 2. He proposed Dr. Strange, but then quickly noted the name was already taken by someone. That's when he settled for Doc Ock with the octopus comparison.

Not sure how credible or accurate this list is, but it looks as if we will be getting Thor 2 and Iron Man 3 in 2013, and then possibly another Hulk, Cap 2, Ant Man, and Deadpool in 2014.
Any Deadpool movie will be "outside" the Avengers universe, due to Fox having the license (as part of their all mutants license).

If I recall correctly, there has indeed been talk of a Dr. Strange movie, with certain folks at Marvel being keen on the idea. I sure would love it.
I know Marvel has been toying with the idea of either shorts or possibly direct-to-video releases of some of the second line characters like Dr. Strange, Iron Fist, Shang Li, and Black Panther to test how successful they would be in full fledged feature releases. I'd almost be curious to see a Marvel Team-Up movie with two hour long stories with different characters over one story arc.

After the success of the Avengers, if Marvel isn't putting an Avengers 2 in the forefront of their coming plans then they are crazy. 2015 is not only reasonable, they need to just book it as a done deal.

I think it has more to do with Iron-Man 3 being paid for and it's
pre-production already begun. They also now have to wait for Whedon's schedule to clear now.Freehold DM |

I'll take Whedon's homicides over most of the other garbage out there. I will likely see the Avengers again. I don't recall ever seeing two different movies twice in the same year. The other was John Carter.
