Hi
Got a friend who's character levelled up from a sanctioned module. It puts him 1XP into his new level.
Can he go half XP from then on, or does the choice have to be at the 'exact' XP for levelling?
(The module gave him 3XP).Thanks

That's a tough call.
A strict interpretation of RAW would say you can only switch to the slow path at an exact multiple of 3XP, so he would have to earn two more XP at the regular rate.
Personally I'd consider allowing the rewards from the module to be split into (2XP + 3PP) at the regular rate, followed by (0.5XP + 0.5PP) at the slow advancement rate.

Unfortunately, with the rules-as-written, and i believe ther is an example in the Guide somewhere, he can only change from normal to slow, or vice versa, at the exact poitn he levels. Modules don't tend to be friendly for changing XP tracks. He has to spend the current level at the same advancement pace as the previous one.
Found the mention, on page 24:
If a character earns more XP than she needs to reach her next level, she may not choose to switch advancement tracks at the new level earned.

Thanks - I must have missed spotting that.
Thinking more about it, splitting the award as I'd pondered in my earlier post would really need some way of splitting the GP earned, as well. While not an impossible problem to solve, it would add more complexity than is really warranted to deal with a rarely-encountered corner case.
