Hello,

I was trying to see the cost of shipping by UPS and it was stuck on Priority Mail for my subscriptions.

Is there something wrong?

It took me a bit, but I see what the issue is. Your subscription shipping address is set to ship to a PO box, and UPS cannot deliver to PO boxes. If you set your shipping address to your home address, then you should be able to select UPS Ground and have it "take".

I will look into why it is even showing you the option of UPS when your address is set to a PO box.

Thanks,
cos

Thank you!

But they do have the option now to deliver to PO boxes as a physical option. It is relatively new thing. Have to have a signed card at the Post Office though.

The UPS website still tells us they won't... and even if they did, I'm not sure we could offer the option, because we'd have no way of knowing if there's a "signed card" on file. If we *did* somehow send a package addressed to a PO Box (which the UPS system actively works to prevent), it would be delayed and an additional fee would be tacked on.

UPS Mail Innovations

Plus today when I was at the Post Office a UPS delivery driver came in with three packages. THe Postal Clerk Signed for them.

So it does happen. Thinking there website just has not been up dated. I was a supervisor at UPS up to Nov before I got new job and I know it was coming down the pipeline. Got a notice in my PO box in Jan. saying the service was available so just assumed it had been finalized.

But apparently not yet with the main "UPS" web site not showing it official yet. It is coming though, it will be ONE of the things that help the USPS system to stay afloat.

Thanks for your time Cosmo!

As another question Cosmo why are the packages just going out Priority Mail? I use to have heavier packages shipped standard mail.

Not saying Media Mail but thought (probably incorrectly) that you also shipped via Parcel Post at one point.

Other wise I need to make my shipments lighter than 16 oz for first class. Might be cheeper to NOT have my shipments wait for one shipment. Ohh this might no longer be an option....looking at subscription page.

Is it possible to figure what the shipping would be if:

just the Adventure Path sub., and a Map...
just the Adventure Path sub., and a deck of cards...

Thanks in advance.

• Pathfinder Roleplaying Game: Bestiary Box
Paizo Publishing, LLC
Preorder - Expected approximately July 2012. (moved from order 1904371)
1 @ $34.99 $29.74

• Pathfinder Adventure Path: Rise of the Runelords Pawn Collection
Paizo Publishing, LLC
Preorder - Expected approximately August 2012. (moved from order 1904371)
1 @ $15.99 $13.59

Could I also cancel these two items. I'll pick them up at a local gaming store who gives me 15% off as well. Don't have to pay the shipping then. :O)

I'll wait on deciding to cancel the Anniversary Edition of Rise of the Rune Lords edition. Even though it says a July release I betting that it will be during Gencon and then just pick it up. At current rate the tax charged in Indy is less than the shipping seems to be.

Mail Innovations is different from standard UPS service. With MI, UPS delivers parcels to post offices near the recipient, and the USPS handles "last leg" delivery to customers, which is why MI will go to PO Boxes and standard UPS shipping won't.

We do actually use Mail Innovations for the vast majority of our packages; selecting "Standard Shipping" will use Mail Innovations where appropriate.

The parcel's contents will also determine allowable shipping methods. Some of the best rates are only applicable when parcels are at least 50% bound printed matter (by weight). If you have a lot of stuff that doesn't qualify as BPM (things like maps, cards, tokens, dice), and your parcel is too heavy for First Class (that is, it weighs more than 13 ounces), there's a pretty good chance that Priority will be the best applicable rate. (Within the US, anyway.)

Our system is smart enough to even try breaking shipments into multiple smaller parcels that can go BPM or First Class, and comparing that to the Priority cost.

Believe me, we've put many, many, MANY person-hours into creating a system that will work out the cheapest allowable options given the stuff you're ordering and the destination it's going to.

Thanks Vic.

Looks like I might be picking things up locally then. Have to think on it more.
