This isn't even remotely LGBT related, but I really want to share my idea for an adventure I'm writing using Anachronistic Adventures by Rogue Genius Games.
First, I'm going to be creating the characters for the players for a few reasons. The most important is that I need to make sure that appropriate skills are chosen and I have a couple players who make a lot of mistakes when they create their characters. I also need 4 or 5 characters per player (more on that later).
Second, there is no magic. This is a real world adventure. No high-technology or magic. They might have access to a few things up to 5 years ahead of the general public, but they are still grounded in reality.
The adventure starts off on November 1, 1989. They are brought together by the Bilderberg Group for a discussion on what's going on in Germany and the protests about the Berlin Wall. The party will learn that the wall isn't just meant to separate Germany, but it's also a prison. There is an alien trapped inside that had been captured during WW2. Most of the records on the creature are spread out around the world or have been destroyed intentionally or on purpose. Based on previous events similar to what's going on, the Bilderberg Group estimates that there are approximately 10 to 14 days to gather the information and prepare to transport the creature so that it doesn't escape. They only know that it's very dangerous and killed millions during its short time on Earth.
The players will each choose a character from the pool available and begin their quest of traveling around the world to secret locations and gathering information in a variety of ways. They might speak with prisoners at the ADX Florence federal penitentiary in Colorado. They might need to go to Iron Mountain. They might need to go to Varosha, Famagusta. I'm going to look for 4 or 5 secret locations around the world. Each location will give them some information. It may not be complete or completely understood. It may be in the form of rumors. It may be photographs or film. It may be first hand information. It may be information that needs to be inferred.
After they go to one location, I will "rewind time" and they will take another set of characters to another location. They will do this until each character has gone to each location. I'll probably give them the locations ahead of time so they can choose which characters will be best for each mission.
I don't know how many of you know, but the Berlin Wall was torn down a day early because of a mistranslation. This is 100% true. This also means that the Bilderberg group was correct in their calculations. They just didn't account for a translation error. The Wall is torn down on November 9, 1989.
If the party has enough information, they might be able to get ahead of things. If not, they will have to track down the alien and recapture it.
They will learn that the alien was responsible for the various typhoid outbreaks around the world. It is both vulnerable and resistant to cold and a few other things. (I already created it. I just need to tweak it a bit.) Using WW2 technology it's assumed to be invincible or nearly so. Hopefully 40ish years later they can be better equipped to deal with this threat.
What do you think? I am trying to come up with ideas to make this really fun and interesting. I want to use actual people and events, the more unusual the better.

While you might not go for historical accuracy, the border/wall was opened early (November 9th) - the destruction of the actual wall started in February 1990. Also, it wasn't a mistranslation (the new laws regarding freedom of travel were made by the Eastern German Party, so no translation was necessary) but Günter Schabowski who did most of the presswork on November 9th wasn't informed that the new law was not to be discussed until the next day.

I'll have to change that part of the history then. I really like the idea of the wall being a prison as well as a divider.
How about you make it necessary that the 'prison' has some sort of stable population? (no, I have no Idea atm how to make that a technical necessity) That would have the stream of refugees that left the GDR prior to the opening of the border endanger the prison and the actual opening one day ahead could be the possible doom you envision - without changing the history.

The Wall itself is the prison. I may need to do a little more research to see how I can incorporate your idea. The one thing I'm trying to avoid is magic or other dimensions. I want this as grounded in reality as possible. I don't know much about the Wall other than what I remember from high school many moons ago.
If you are up for it, would you be willing to aid me with some of my ideas? I don't know how well versed you are in WW2 history and secret societies/locations.

My history knowledge of that era, and the years after the war are OK - good, but I won' be able to post much today (Monday) or tomorrow. Other than that, I will try my besst (or worst :-D).
- The current Russian president was a MAjor for the KGB in Dresden (1985-1990)as an officer for communication ant the observation of visitors of the Kombinat Robotron, a company of the ministry for electronics and electrotechnology.
- The live reporter for the German Tagesschau (the most important news show in Western Germany) used the words 'Who isn't in Berlin tonight isn't really alive' on November 9th, I am sure those words could hold a twisted meaning in your world
- The few parts of the Berlin wall that still stand seem to be more resistant to the effects of wheather and time than expected.
- the building of the wall started Augsut 12 / 13 1961 - the Western German intelligence did hear about a ppossible wall only three days before that. It was also the reason one of Billy Wilders Masterpieces, the movie One, Two, Three was not released in cinemas, because nobody wanted to see a comedy about the clash of communism and capitalism set in Berlin.
Fun facts for starters:

Interesting story concept. I'll be interested in reading more about it.

So I'm thinking about HRT, but I don't really know much about it and how it will affect my weight loss journey. I don't know what to expect. I don't know if it's covered by the VA. I don't know if it's the right thing for me to do. I don't know what questions to even ask.
What is HRT?

I can answer any questions you might have; I haven't started HRT yet (need my repro stuff to be functional for now), but I've definitely looked into it and have a lot of friends that are going through it.

Thanks. As soon as I figure out what questions I have, I'll be asking a lot of people.
One of my biggest concerns is appetite. Since I had the lap sleeve surgery I no longer have much of a stomach. I don't want to reverse the weight loss I've experienced. I'm concerned about appetite and cravings.
I see my psychologist today and I may bring this up with him. I know that I should start talking about it sooner than later. We're right now focused on dealing with anger management. I don't know if I want to make sure that I have those tools in place before I start altering my hormones or if it's something I can work on at the same time.

The HRT process is sometimes described as "second puberty," so a lot of people report an increase in appetite, but I'm not sure how that's going to interact with your sleeve. I can see that going either way, for sure.

I seem to remember reading a thread years ago on the Susan's Place forums about weight loss being harder once AMIB people were on T-blockers and estrogen/progesterone replacement therapy. Retaining existing muscle mass also takes much more work. Which makes sense, as that's generally the same for cis women. But I haven't a clue how any of that interacts with lap band surgery and diet, or what effects it has on your appetite.
Good luck with your psychologist. From my own experience, when I was trying different SSRIs and SNRIs (for depression and anxiety), many of them really messed with my emotional equilibrium, including anger. If you are on anything similar, please mention it to your psychologist (or more likely, psychiatrist, since they prescribe such medications) about possibly adjusting dosage levels and/or trying others that might work better for you. It's darn tricky getting the right meds in the right amounts that work well for one person, when the exact same regimen doesn't work at all (or causes horrible side effects) in another.
Again, I wish you well.

I've found with starting HRT that sticking to a keto diet has been very very useful (since my appetite is like 10x worse than it was - though I am adding testosterone, so I'm going through the opposite process). I've also heard of trans women who find it useful to help manage weight (though you have to be careful not to overdo potassium if you're spiro, bc it's a potassium sparing diuretic). Keto is kind of a pain to keep to, but it's really up to you.
Um, in LGBT gaming stuff, I just played Night in the Woods and it was very, very good. It was cool to have a protag who expressed interest in both men and women??? Like that was great! Anyway, it was also a Very Weird games but I love Very Weird games. What Remains of Edith Finch is next on my to-play list.

Congrats!
I've got some weird thyroid issues (runs through my mom's side of the family), but I had good luck in the past slowly & steadily losing weight doing Atkin's, and later South Beach. But damn, I really had problems with the cravings.
Do trans women on HRT and transitioning need some fat and carbs in their diet, or do their existing fat cells just redistribute? Both? Neither?

As I understand it, it just kind of happens. One of the women I first talked to about it said one might eventually find one’s gained a bit of weight and then, hey presto!, a few months later it seems to have got to where it ought to be. But since we’re talking in terms of a second puberty, it’s not really something to lose sleep over. Being a teenager takes years, right? :) I’m only in the middle of the process more or less, as far as flooding my body with estrogens goes, though, and if I end up taking after my mother’s side of the family, voluptuousness probably won’t be in my cards anyway, so YMMV.
I'm taking Cymbalta for migraines and depression. I'm going to need to really start exercising. The one thing I'm actually working on with my therapist is anger management. It's one reason why I'm thinking about waiting until I have more tools available to deal with the changes.
You would know best, once you’ve talked with your therapist. I’m afraid I can only easily offer anecdotal evidence from my own experience and that of some of the folks I’ve talked to.
For what it’s worth, though, a lot of nasty feelings can just dissolve with hormone therapy. After a few weeks on anti-androgens, a lot of the anger I used to carry around seemed to melt away, or was revealed as something else: sadness, trying not to lash out, for example. Then again, though I tend to think of myself as a bitter, aggressive person, I’ve never felt the need to seek help with anger management, and none of the therapists I’ve seen thought it was necessary. I’m afraid I’ve fallen out of touch with a woman I knew once who was dealing with anger management concurrently with her transition, but from what I recall of how she described it, the tricky thing was managing emotions that were all newly in focus, rather than the anger she was dealing with at the same time becoming more prominent, if that makes sense.
As far as appetite goes, since I’ve started on hormones, I think my metabolism has changed in largely inscrutable ways. I think I’m eating a bit more, but my weight seems to have stayed more or less the same, so it might just be part of the second puberty thing again, some of that energy going into whatever it is that puberty does. (One might naïvely have hoped that it would make more sense the second time around, and to a certain extent it does, but at the same time… Sigh. :) )
Ugh. A largish chunk of text, if not quite a wall, aieeee! At least it’s not prismatic, so no risk of disintegration. More seriously, feel free to ask questions; I’ll try to answer them as best as I can, or, since you all are a lot of good people here, chime in to agree with or add to what others might have said.
[Hides in plain sight]It’s been a difficult summer for me, though, and likely will be for the next few weeks. I might continue mainly lurking for a while, but I did mean it about asking questions. [/Hides in plain sight]
