I wish you the best, Bob. If I were going to Piazo Con, I would swing over and pick you up, then pay for your ticket. Sadly I am stuck in the salt mines this year. ~hears the crack of the whip~ Whoops! Time to get back to work! ~picks up my pick and heads back into the mine~

While that would be awesome, I also don't think I have the stamina to wander around the con anyway. The dizziness would make it more of a chore than anything.

Get back to work!

Hope everyone going to Paizocon has a great time! I'm so jealous!

I also hope everyone else has a great weekend as well ^w^

Having trouble with the three portcullis puzzle in Skyrim. I'm supposed to use the Whirlwind sprint shout twice, but can only do it once. Maybe there's an item I'm missing. Oh, well. A problem for another day. Tired now. Going to get some sleep.

It is a pain, but it can be done. Start running normally from the first to the second stone. Hit the shout button right after you get to or past the second stone.

I hope everyone has a good day and a great weekend.

Bob, please take care of yourself.

Paizocon is a bust for me this year.

Flight was eventually canceled after a six-hour delay. There were no flights that could get me there today (Friday), with the possible exception of getting on standby for a 8:30 PM arrival. Best guaranteed seat would arrive at 1PM Saturday...which would have meant missing half the con.

I made the painful decision to just cancel the trip.

So many flights were canceled that there were no rooms at any hotel with airport shuttle service, so I had to take an Uber across town to a so-so Hampton Inn. Checked in at 2:30 AM. At least I got five hours of sleep.

And there are no flights home today, either. Soonest is a 6PM Saturday flight. I'm looking at a one-way car rental for a 5-hour drive home...assuming that I can get a car.

"Disappointed" doesn't really convey how I feel right now.

was this due to weather or something else?

For those who aren't Americans, you may not know about some of our holidays. Monday is Memorial Day. It's where we honor the fallen servicemen and women.

Whatever your political positions, whatever your orientation, identity, race, religion, etc., remember that this weekend is not about you. It's about them. Raise a glass and thank them for the ultimate sacrifice for your freedom.

Yes, we still have a long road ahead. Without them we wouldn't even have a road to travel. They kept it clear. They checked for snipers. They removed the landmines. They kept supply lines and communications open so that we could travel through dangerous territory to help make this a more perfect union.

When you are celebrating with your family and friends, or even if you aren't, remember that it's because of them that you are living in a nation where we have the opportunity to improve because of them.

Which airport, Haladir? I was at JFK for 12 hours yesterday.

Managed to snag a seat for this morning on a flight to San Francisco and connection to Seattle.

I'm missing my lottery game, though :(

I can attest to this. Did it not that long ago.

Well said, Bob. Monday, I'll raise a can of Budweiser to the memory of Preston Scott Gardner. Preston was a Scout in E Troop, 2 / 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment who died in early 1990 in a training accident at Graffenwehr, Germany. I'll spare everyone here the exact details of his passing. Once I've finished my can, I'll pour out another to honor his sacrifice during peacetime.

Many thanks, Sharoth. I was able to get through the puzzle the first time around. :)

Got the rent for the apartment I'm renting over the summer all settled, and got all my hiring paperwork finished up. I still can't believe that I'm gonna be working at the Museum of Natural History over the summer- this has been like a dream job of mine for my whole life and even though its just a summer internship this is such a wonderful thing I get to do, and gives me an opportunity to get into more permanent positions in the future. I move in in a week!

Congrats! Working in a Museum sounds infinitely more interesting than walking around in a parking garage. But, I do have free time for my programming projects. So, maybe it all balances out?

~grins~ I have been there 8 or 9 times and each time it takes me AT LEAST 5 or 6 tries to get it right. ~shrugs~ What can I say? I am not the greatest video game player.

I don't really do well with "button mashers" either. I used Whirlwind Sprint right after passing the second stone, and kept running throughout the sprint. This got me through all three portculli. Don't forget to aim. :) About to close the garage and go home. Will post again at about 1:30 - 2 AM.

Hey all, not only did I turn 29 today but it was also my first day as a volunteer worker at the local Habitat For Humanity Re-Store! Things went swimmingly and I feel I really got along well with my co-workers. They even gave me a surprise b-day party. Feels really good to be doing something besides sitting at home.

Just to put it into perspective how much better I feel, ever since I graduated High School I've been looking for work even if it was only a volunteer position, but for one reason or another could never land a job with only two exceptions: a short seasonal position at the local Best Buy that was mostly thanks to the efforts of a job search instructor, and now this volunteer position at the local Re-Store. Now pretty much everyone knows how hard of a job looking for work is, especially when you get nothing but rejections, throw depression and anxiety into the mix and you have a general idea of how negatively I thought about myself when I wasn't able to obsess over something else; whether the flavour of the week was a certain television program, video game, TCG, or books, didn't matter so long as it helped stem the tide of negative self talk.

I'm at a weird point in my queer existence where as opposed to my past of seeking out a queer S.O. and not being able to find any people near me/close to me that were compatible orientation-wise...I'm now at a point where I don't want to pursue a romantic relationship but people around me want to pursue one with me,,,
How the tables turn (gay) I guess?

It's one of life's truths that romantic interests only present themselves when we aren't looking for them.

American. Thursday night, two bands of major thunderstorms blew through the Northeast, from south of Philadelphia to Boston. That caused cascading delays and cancellations in some very busy airports. AA was hit especially hard, as Philadelphia is their main east coast hub.

I'm back home now.

Here's my friend's death record. I was doing phone duty in Bad Kissengen when it happened. But I did have the chance to attend his memorial. He and I were in a 2nd Edition D&D group together, so it was like losing a brother.

Or was it 1st edition? Some details are hazy this many years later.

Just heard on the news that Greg Allman, from the Allman Brothers band, has died.
