I was just wondering if anyone has a character (that is somewhat playable) that has ever got their diplomacy bonus over 100 by level 20. It would be fun to see who can get the highest diplomacy bonus :)

CHA 20 start
26 with headband +8
Persuasvive and Skill focus +5
20 ranks Diplomacy +20
Ioun Stone +5
Masterwork tool +2
Circumstance bonuses +2 (wine and dine)
Bard song bonuses +5
Aid another? Lets just say ONE +2

I got +49 here without trying. I know there are spells etc that add to diplomacy as well as class features.

Sure, if you write your skills in Binary, you can even manage 100 by level 1 :)

Seriously though, if you have enough money I guess you can make yourself a magic item that gives you a high enough bonus to Diplomacy. Sure it won't be cheap, but possible.

Without something like that, I don't really see it.

+52, actually. Skill Focus increases to a +6 bonus once you have 10 ranks in the skill.

A custom magic item that boosts a skill is very cheap. Bonus squared x 100gp. An item that grants +30 Diplomacy (in 3.5, the highest you could get before it was considered an Epic item) only costs 90,000 gold. A +50 item costs 250,000. (+100 item is 1,000,000.)

You forgot + 3 for class skill, +2 for trait.

Persuasive increases at level 10 too so it's actually a total +10 bonus from those two, factoring in class bonus and trait that puts us up to:

+59.

Circlet of Persuasion offers a +3 instead of the +2 for wine and dining putting us up to +60.

+56.

Persuasive also goes up to +4 when you have 10 or more ranks in diplomacy.
And I'm pretty sure a charisma of 20 goes up to 28 with a +8 headband.

Pretty sure the max pre-epic was +15, not +30....

What Iuon stone is adding +5 to it?

Just as Skill focus is another +3, persuasive is another +2.

Other stuff: Circlet of Persuasion (+3). Stone of Good Luck (+1). Tome of Leadership for another +5 to the charisma score (+2 or +3, depending on if your score was odd or even). Traits are good for another +1. Not sure if there's a +2 trait bonus for diplomacy, but if you go at least 2 into bard for Versatile Performance and tie it to perform bonus, the Savant trait is worth a +2. A Infiltraitor Inquisitor dip will also let you add wisdom to diplomacy, on top of cha. Which makes Aasimar the ideal race, unless there's a race with a diplomacy racial bonus.

I pretty sure he means a +6 headband. A score of 26 has a modifier of +8.

Nope, it was +30. Most of the core magic items did stop at +15, though.

Also, this is situational, but until someone finds a better / another +x per level bonus, there is this at least:

"Skills: An order of the blue rose cavalier adds Knowledge (history) (Int) and Knowledge (nobility) (Int) to his list of class skills. Whenever an order of the blue rose cavalier uses Diplomacy to try to mediate a dispute between two parties that do not include him, he receives a bonus on the check equal to 1/2 his cavalier level (minimum +1)."

Current ideal build: Blue Rose Cavalier w/ Infiltrator Inquisitor dip and maybe Bard dip w/ Leadership for a bard cohort?

there is also voice of the sybil....

it grants a bonus to dpilomacy......

Ok. Here's what I've got with all the cheese i could find:

Cha 20 start +5 cha with lvl ups, +5 cha Tomb,+6 cha H.B.,= Cha of 36 or +13 (didn't want to add old or venerable to the list. Don't want to play an old fogey.)
skill ranks +20
Trained +3
Aasimar or Suli: +2 racial
Bard Arch: Geisha lvl 18 = +9
Inquisitor Arch: Infiltrator lvl 1: Guileful Lore: Wis to Dip, Maybe +7
Wizard Enchantment Specialist lvl 1: +2 enhancement bonus
Thrush Familiar: +3
Trait Ambassador of Sarenrae: +2 trait
Feat Persuasive +4
Feat Skill Focus: Dip +6
Feat Voice of the Sybil +3
Feat Leadership: Lvl 18 Cleric Cohort with glory domain: touch of glory +18 bonus
Magic item: Mulberry Ioun Stone: +5 Competence
Magic item: Luckstone +1 luck
Item: Diplomacy item, Perfume? +2 circumstance
Kintargo Opera House Guild bonus: Idolized (5pp) +2

spell: Greater Heroism: +4 morale
spell: Honeyed Tongue (technically doesn't add, but 2x roll)

Total: 106 Probably some i missed

Also, trying to keep the magic items only from the books. No self made items. And I want to use this bonus to influence peoples attitudes, not gather info, because my GM was thinking about bringing back epic level skill successes :)

Liberty's Edge

Starting Cha 20
+5 for level bonuses
+6 for item
+5 for inherent
+2 profane bonus from succubus

Total Cha: 38 (+14 bonus)

20 Ranks + 3 class skill + 14 cha bonus + 6 skill focus + 4 persuasive + 1 trait + 2 from aid another + 30 for diplomacy boosting item + 20 moment of prescience (divination spell) + 1 (luckstone)

This is a +101 bonus.

You could probably boost this a bit more by finding more spells that boost skill checks. The above includes a trait bonus, a competence bonus, an insight bonus and a luck bonus. The cha score has inherent, enhancement and profane bonuses. You could probably squeeze out another point of two if you find an ability that boosts your CL for divination spells.

The above character would be a sorcerer, most likely.

I would guess you could squeeze about 10 more points into that bonus, probably with reincarnation based shenanigans, caster levels boosts to divination and a better luck bonus from.. something.

EDIT: Looks like Kalavas and I have a similar list, but if you overlap them you could push up to another few points.

Also, Kalavas, some of your stuff doesn't stack. You list the Ioun stone as a competence bonus, which is what inspire competence is.

Wait... cha of 20 to start, +5 from level ups, +6 for headband of charisma... That's 31. Where did 26 and 28 come from? Add a +5 tome to that and you have charisma of 36. Our ideal diplomonster should be rocking a 36 charisma.

Court Bard also gets a bonus equal to half his level which puts him up to a +70. Halflings get a +1/2 favored class bonus but only when gathering information which would give him a skill subset at +80.

dont forget the mental alchemist can get up to another +8 Cha with mutagen

only +4 with one level dip tho

Dont forget to add 5 to charisma from level increases and another 5 from wish/miracle. This will add +5 to the diplomacy score. - Gauss

Edit: Ninja'd by StreamOfTheSky

Stabbity, would circlet of persuasion stack with the +30 item? Which I still am not sure is legal...

Also, add wis to the diplomacy check via Inquisitor dip. Not sure you have the gold to boost wis nearly as high, but 20 +6 enhancement +4 tome is probably affordable for a 30 wis, for another +10 bonus.

Don't liches get bonus CHA?

Not all of those stack.

Specifically
Enchantment Wiz/Enhancement Item
Insp Comp/competence Item

edit: huh, didn't know they'd passed out a direct enh bonus to skills, had that mixed up with trans wizard...

You can also get a MW diplomacy item for +2 circumstance
I find it helps to explicitly list the bonus type when making these kind of lists.

It's amusing how many are untyped though (including the domain)

Cha 20 Start +5
Stat bump (5) +3 (adds to 3 with Tome of Leadership)
Class Skill +3
Skill Focus +6
Ranks +20
Headband Cha +6 +3
Persuasive +4
Stone of GL +1
Tome of L +5 +2
Ring of Diplo +30 (going with thread, pre epic)
Ioun Stone +5 (might be Circumstance bonus, not sure)
Mwk item tool +2 (circumstance bonus, doesn't stack with W&D)
Circlet of Per +3

I think there's a few things that give an alchemical bonus, and I Think there's a class ability that adds 1/2 class level to it. Not sure.

My total is 85 or 87, depending on Ioun Stone being circumstance or not.

yr allowed two traits....

there is also the princess, charming, that one with the must be wearing really expneive amount of stuff...

just remember that you can opnly take one type of trait from each section of traits

Like I said, you could probably boost it further.

Ditch 2 levels of sorc (take the caster level trait to make up the gap for moment of prescience), take the dip for Cognatogen (net +2 to diplomacy) and the inquisitor bonus (wouldn't count on more than +7). Change to aasimar and become a lich (+2 from aasimar, +1 from cha boost due to lich). Pick the diplomacy bonus familiar for +3 (arcane bloodline, take pig). That's another +15, which means you can drop the diplomacy item to +15 and still meet the "more than +100 bonus" goal.

Trait bonuses don't stack, so a second trait bonus to diplomacy would not help at all.

If you're a lich w/ 20 class levels, are you still "level 20"? I know PF did away with LA entirely so as to not have to deal with it, but I really don't think plopping down a Lich 20 as a 20th level build would fly anywhere, ever...

StabbityDoom: Nice a profane bonus from Succubus! Does Moment of prescience work for diplomacy? it says apposed ability or skill check. probably does, not sure though.
Archaeik: Thanks for the correction, and also the diplomacy item +2, and what does the wizard enhancement bonus not stack with?

also i was trying to get this bonus to apply to influence peoples attitudes, so the one round bonuses probably wouldn't work, as it takes a full minute to do it.

You can also increase your Charisma (and Int and Wis) by +3 if you are venerable.

Barring the amusing exercise to create, that is at least for me, well into the ridiculous AND that being able to create a character with such a skill is obviously quite enjoyable for some...I have to ask: Why? Maybe I'm backward, old-fashioned, or just missing the point all together, but what would be the point? Is this what d20 and Pathfinder are to evolve into? TO each there own. I apologize in advance if my post comes across as antagonistic, it wasn't meant to be. I am generally curious as to the why behind creating a character with such hyper-specialty.

The reason is because my DM might be bringing back the old D&D 3.x rules for our higher level game play (15-20) for epic lvl successes from the epic handbook. I think RAW is you can only influence a NPC's attitude by 2 or 3, wording kind of muddy, but in the epic lvl handbook you can make them Fanatics!

Grand Lodge

circumstance bonuses from different sources stack. GM determines what is different sources.

Here's the rules for epic diplomacy, which my DM might add to our campaign for the later levels of play. There will be some modifications of course, like making someone a fanatic will probably only work on people with no class levels. We're still ironing out the details.
Bringing epic skills into our campaign seems like a really fun idea to me, as after a certain point, many skills with even 10 ranks are always successes unless you roll a one in PF. Epic skills let you do really awesome things without having to use magic, like swimming up waterfalls. Gives the game more facets.

Only works if they didn't take any skill ranks. It does not add it on top of that.

No you don't. The 20 ranks in skill from the headband do not stack with the 20 ranks he already has.

Found another spell to tack on to the list!

Moment of Greatness: Double a morale bonus on one role or skill check.

Takes my above posted character to 110 for one check on diplomacy! (doubling his bonus from Greater Heroism)

Also did not add in aid another bonus: +2 more. 112

That depends on your initial attitude, since normally you can't shift the target's attitude by more than two steps. And attitude shifts only last 1d4 hours, not forever.

Those 20 points would be a replacement for the 20 ranks already taken in the skill, so that really wouldn't add another 20.

Level 20 Geisha using versatile Performance Oratory for diplomacy.

36 Charisma +13
20 ranks +20
Trained +3
Geisha Bonus half level +10
Skill Focus Oratory +6
Savant Trait +2
Prodigy +4
Tea Ceremony (inspire competence) +6
Voice of the Sybil +3
Luck stone +1
Ensemble +8
Masterwork Tools (the right outfit) +2
Moment of Prescience +20
Greater Heroism +4
Moment of Greatness +4
Touch of glory (Cohort) +18
124

Idea was to boost Performance Oratory and use versatile performance to use Performance Oratory roll for all diplomacy rolls. This also gives you Sense Motive at the same Epic level.

Orignally I had a +30 item in there but saw you did not want any custome items. That would add 24 to the number as it would not stack with Tea Ceremony.

Circlet of Persuasion is a competence bonus so would not stack.

Nicely Done! I did not include Moment of prescience for a couple of reasons however. 1: a bard can't cast it and its range is you. 2: it only works on opposed skill or ability checks, which (i believe) excludes diplomacy.

Over all, your character is a much stronger build, but it does leave a few less points than the one I posted. 3 high skills rather than one is much much more fun.
Thanks for not including the +30 item. My DM will not allow it. I think the max he will allow for the social skills is plus 10 for made items, but he likes to go by printed items much more.

Here are a few more ways to pump your diplomacy even higher, though I personally would not, and my reasons why.

Venerable age: +3 to Cha = 1pt, -3 to all phys stats though. You have to play a geezer. Funny, but all my Grandparents do is sit around and watch T.V. In PF the older you get the prettier you get? Oh well, elderly love is a good thing.

Succubus Profane Gift: +2 profane to Cha = 1pt. However, she can cast suggestion on you at any time. Plus, she's Eeeviil.

Become a Lich: +2 to Cha = 1pt, but honestly, don't see it happening in game. plus from then on you'd be undead. Not too acceptable in normal society.

Drugs!: 3 give you bonuses. 1) Daemon Seed - 1d4 profane bonus to skills for 1 hour. 2) Elven Absynthe - 1d4 cha bonus for 1 hour. 3) Harlot Sweets - 1d4 cha bonus for 1 hour. All of these net you about a 1 to 2pt bonus. The reason I wouldn't take drugs in game are manifold. Addiction, negative stats, saving throw or suck, price, DM approval, and lastly drugs are bad, mmkay?

Alchemist 1 lvl dip: take the cognatogen class discovery for a +4 cha for one hour. Nets you 2pts. Lots of negatives to using that mutagen, and the lvl dip can be used for other classes that give you better bonuses.

Lastly, if you're using the bardic versatile performance: oratory to get your Diplomacy high, you can go visit your friendly neighborhood nymph and work your charms on her so she'll give you her Inspiration supernatural ability for another +4 to ALL perform checks, as well as other bonuses. If your'e DM allows this one, then run with it and don't look back.

Ok. that covers all the other bonuses i can find. Please post any others you can find that I missed. Thanks.

+18 Insight Eldritch Heritage destined could go to +20 with two more feats to get greater eldritch heritage which may or may not work depending on use of other feats.

Works for both straight Diplomacy build and Perform build for Diplomacy.

Ah yes, the first level Sorcerer ability from the Destined Bloodline: Touch of Destiny (Sp): At 1st level, you can touch a creature as a standard action, giving it an insight bonus on attack rolls, skill checks, ability checks, and saving throws equal to 1/2 your sorcerer level (minimum 1) for 1 round. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Charisma modifier.

Well that feat chain might be nice: Eldritch Heritage, Imp E. H., Gr. E. H., but i have a couple of issues with it.
1) it's half your sorcerer lvl, so it would be at most with all 3 feats +10 insight bonus.
2) One round bonuses don't really work for my GM when its a skill that takes longer than one round to use such as diplomacy to change an attitude (1 min), and gather info (1d4 hours). Some gm's would say that you can just cast it after you talked for one minute to the target but before you made your check and it would get the bonus, but my GM will not let that slide. So due to that ruling, other skills and abilities that give a bonus to a check for one round don't really work in our games. IE Cleric Good domain power Touch of Good: sacred bonus to skill checks equal to half cleric lvl for one round.

Lol, Awesome. Wish: You may try to use a wish to produce greater effects than these, but doing so is dangerous. (The wish may pervert your intent into a literal but undesirable fulfillment or only a partial fulfillment, at the GM's discretion.)

So the Lvl 20 wizard asking for 103 bonus to diplomacy gets his wish. He turns into a Lvl 20 bard. :)
