I like the way you bacon UDS. I think, when it comes to the zombiepocalypse, we'll go ahead and eat you last.

Scarab Sages

There was bacon this morning. I made sure to leave the TV on while we were eating, so the boy would be distracted and I would get more.

Scarab Sages

If the slipper fits, Minnie's been smoking some good shit.

Scarab Sages

The boy's two favorite objects seem to be his Jake Sword and his light saber. Awesome!

Scarab Sages

Again with the Curious George!

Scarab Sages

But Frank Welker does the "voice" of George. And some episodes are narrated by William H. Macy. So that's cool.

Scarab Sages

Megatron and Curious George - what a dichotomy!

Scarab Sages

Just realized I was rambling in the wrong thread.

I blame my children.

I had Rogue's Voodoo Doughnut Maple Bacon Beer a few months back. I thought it was awful. It had this bitter, chemical taste, like bad liquid smoke.

There are some rauchbiers I've come across that are pretty good. A small brewpub in Manayunk (up in northwest Philly, made a pretty decent one. And a buddy of mine homebrewed one that was really awesome. But I think they can be kind of tough to get right.

There was bacon wrapped asparagus. "Was" being the operative word.

Scarab Sages

One of the most glorious sounds in the world this morning - the sound of cooking bacon.

Followed closely by the silence of bacon being devoured.

Scarab Sages

Yesterday there was grilled, bacon-wrapped pork medallions. Mmmmmm......

Scarab Sages

Good cut of bacon this morning. It cooked up easy.

Pancakes and bacon. The morning breakfast was good.

Scarab Sages

Thoughts of bacon-wrapped something are dancing in my head today.....

Pork Belly?

Scarab Sages

There was bacon for breakfast this morning, among other things.

Scarab Sages

Once again, there was bacon this morning.

Last night for dinner: bacon-wrapped beef medallions.

We are testing out having bacon on the breakfast bar at work. It's not bad for pre-cooked stuff. A lot better than the "cajun bacon" I had last time I visited my parents. It tasted like teriyaki beef jerky. Which isn't bad if that's what you are wanting, but definitely not what you want when you are expecting a spicy bacon.

We went to breakfast at a new (to us) place over the weekend with my in-laws. I had my usual: two side orders of bacon and an order of toast.

Throw in an egg and some cheese and you have one of my favorite breakfasts of all. Mmm egg sandwiches. With cheese and bacon.

Replace the egg and cheese with mayo and lettuce and I'll take a couple.

I haven't had an egg sandwich with lettuce but I'd give it a shot. Mayo's pretty standard topping though, as is ketchup.

Just whatever you do, no tomatoes. Bleugh.

No, see, you get rid of the egg. And the cheese. Just leaving bacon, lettuce, and mayo on toast. No ketchup, no tomato, nothing else.

Why would I want to get rid of the egg and cheese? Seriously man.

Scarab Sages

Mayo? MAYO?!?

It's like I don't know you two anymore!! You're like Belgian Pod People.

Could be worse. Could've said Miracle Whip. Bleugh!

I tried an experiment last night. I was making a pot of spaghetti and normally I'm pretty liberal with the salt. I had a package of subpar bacon (hormel... it's... okay) that was opened already, so I thought, instead of pouring salt in the water, I'll toss a slice of bacon. It worked quite well and I will be doing this again.

Also, I just put in an order for Benton's bacon. I've seen them talked about on a couple of shows with some pretty knowledgeable chefs. The bacon probably has one of my favorite reviews for any product ever:

Quote:
If you have an enemy, somebody that you would really like to do something that will ruin their life. If this person loves Bacon, I mean really loves Bacon....then send him/her a pound of this stuff. At first is will seem as if you have done him/her a major solid, that you are attempting to bury the hatchet.... but then ....the pound will be quickly gone....and he/she is going to have to go back to that stuff they call Bacon at the Grocery Store.... he/she will be standing on the Bacon isle at the store, looking for something comparable to Benton Bacon.... there is nothing comparable to Benton Bacon...and in that moment of frustration and longing...they will know...what you have done to them....you will have ruined them forever for being able to enjoy the readily available stuff. Then they know that you were indeed buried the hatchet.....in their back.

You can keep it if you like, but I loathe eggs and am not fond of cheese on most things.

Actually, I meant Miracle Whip. I just call it mayo because it's easier and we always called it mayo while growing up. I like mayo (as long as it's not lite, blah), but always buy Miracle Whip.

Don't do that man. You'll confuse people, and that could end badly. ;)

Sounds like a great big bunch of their problem.

Bacon is awesome in a variety of foods. In the halcyon days of my youth, my mother would put it in the Red Beans & Rice. Mmmmmm......

Scarab Sages

Mayo - the one thing that even bacon can't improve.

I was thinking about bringing bacon over to my dnd session. I would cook the strips up, roll them up, and put a toothpick in them. Maybe I'll cut them in half.

There was bacon this morning....and much rejoicing.

Scarab Sages

There will also be bacon-wrapped beef medallions for dinner....and even more much rejoicing.

My Benton's hickory smoked bacon arrived while I was on vacation. My roommate graciously put it in the fridge for me and amazingly didn't steal any. I'm not sure if I'm gracious enough to share though.

How clever is your roommate? Perhaps he carefully cut open the package, removed the bacon, cooked and ate it, then replaced it with some tofu-bacon and resealed the bag so well that you can't tell that he did anything.
