Carrion Crown town data question

Carrion Crown

Hi, I just wrapped up an epicly long 3.5 campaign and am finally jumping into pathfinder. I am using the Carrion Crown AP. The town/city write ups contain info that I can't seem to find any expansion on. Anyone able to point me to where I should be looking to get information on what it all means and how it impacts on gameplay?

Good luck with that AP. Ravonloft Light. The first part is no joke. Im actually a player in that campain at the moment. We just hit 3rd level and we have already had two player deaths which is rare for our group lol. Its been alot of fun though, even with having to replace my character.

As far as your question... sorry I couldn't help but I felt the need to give my approval of your AP choice lol.

I think the details on all that is in the Gamemastery Guide. You should be able to find it in Paizo's PRD here on the website, though. And this would be the page.

Geez Dragonamedrake, what are you guys doing wrong? Our party didn't have our second character death until level 6. That isn't at all deadly. ;)

As to the OP, yes all that town information that WOTC had in the DMG is now in the GMG (GameMastery Guide). This is a great book if you are new to role-playing games, which is doesn't sound like you are. It also has tables for randomly generating magic items if you missed that from 3.5 (I have to admit I did). The thing I use the GMG for the most though is the 30-40 NPC write ups in the back which are great when you need a farmer, bandit, prince, hedge mage, whatever, with no prep time.

I Flagged the Thread to get it in the Carrion Crown AP Forum.

In the APs Forum under Carrion Crown you'll find lots of Threads on how DMs have dealt with various Campaign issues, good and bad.... Including town & city info.

I've heard a number of folks say it's got a high PC mortality rate but I've also heard it doesn't. I'm playing through it now and we're almost done with volume 5. No PCs have died yet. A few have come pretty darn close, though. In our case we PCs are built a tiny bit stronger than the norm but more importantly, we're mostly experienced Players (VERY experienced) with a brand new DM. He's doing well trying to throw challenges that really trouble us (while staying on script) but, well, we've got on average 20 years of gaming XP and a couple of us, like myself, have 30 yrs. It's hard to catch us off guard.

Great Campaign, though and the DM is doing really well.

Spoiler Alert!

Why we died:

Well I was playing a Warwizard from 3.5. My friend was playing a Witch/Spellslinger.

We entered the Underground hole area. The other two characters where both Clerics. When we went Left we found a Porculous (I think i murdered that word) I used acid splash to break the chain holding the Porculous and then used create pit under it to have it fall away...

Now according to the DM we where supposed to give up and go the other way. We didnt. When we went in there was a wall that blood letters started appearing. Every letter caused wisdom damage. So of course the two clerics stayed out while My Warwizard and my friend the Witch took care of the wall.

However when the wall was destroyed it caused a cave in behind us and we where trapped inside... with a very high level, very mad wizard Ghost who stayed in the walls and ground where we couldn't reach him. The Cleric had his spellbook outside the cave in (so we couldnt use that to damage him), and he simply used summoned monster over and over to soften us up followed by Maximized and Empowered Magic Missles.

We had zero healing, and zero turning or channeling to combat him. Basicly we had zero chance. The Clerics upon hearing us die ran away. They have gone to find help (aka our two new characters)

No you read that wrong... or I just suck at explaining. Read on if you don't mind spoilers.

Spoiler:
No the Ghost's spell book ... you can tear pages out of it to deal damage to him. However the cleric had it and he was on the other side of a cave in.

And we where never using Maximized and empowered magic missiles... the frigging GHOST was using it on US because he is like a 10th level wizard!

I took like 20 from one spell he cast. And we had zero healing. And did I mention he was casting from under the floor, usually through a dirty pool of water, or he was hiding in the friggin walls while we dealt with his bajillion summon monsters.
