Break Enchantment vs Reincarnate

Rules Questions

Hello

For some time we play in campaigns KM. And it is such a problem.
Several players have died during heavy fighting.
And now the question.
Can Break Enchantment can destroy Reincarnate?
The Reincarnate says that only a miracle, and wish
This is the issue at a session with our MG (ahhh bad bad MG)
He says that maybe I did not I say :)

Thanks for your help.

A Break Enchantment spell, or any similar spell (Dispel Magic or Mage's Disjunction, for example) cannot affect a Reincarnate spell. The duration of Reincarnate is instantaneous -- once it is cast, it takes effect and is then over. Therefore there is no spell left to affect with the Break Enchantment. The reference to Wish or Miracle refers to restoring the original race of the being who was reincarnated, if the player decides it's worth it go that far.

Reincarnate says that a casting of Wish or Miracle is what is required to return a mortals soul from its reincarnated body to the body of its birth.
EX> You reincarnate a dead human, he is transformed into a Gnome. The former human decides that he wants his body back and gets wish cast on him to return him to his original body.

Break enchantment destroys transmutation effects of level 5 or lower.
Being that Break enchantment is a special exception to the rule of instantaneous magic it can in fact effect Reincarnated people.
Reincarnate is a Transmutation effect, so yes it does in fact act as a death effect for reincarnated characters.
This is how it would work.

Cleric begins casting Break Enchantment.
Cleric stands and casts break enchantment for its full minute casting time.

This is ten rounds of combat, if the cleric isn't dead you deserve the death effect.

Finishing the casting the cleric hits each person within 30ft of each other (as for some reason the cleric is aware that you are all reincarnated)
The cleric Makes a Dispel Magic check to remove the effects of reincarnate
(which has a minimum DC of 18 opposed by the Clerics CL +1d20)
If the cleric makes his check to dispel the reincarnation the animating magic of the spell is removed and that persons body turns into dirt and leaves leaving their unanchored soul to go to whatever end they have in store for them.
The only thing that would restore such an unfortunate soul would be a True resurrection

If however you are a reincarnated character that gets cursed you need only look at the spell to realize you are in no danger.
Let the cleric know that you are reincarnated.
Break enchantment says this

This spell frees victims from enchantments, transmutations, and curses. Break enchantment can reverse even an instantaneous effect.

This makes the point moot as a Cleric may choose what effects they wish to remove.

If your GM isn't down with that interpretation then try this one.

Cleric is aware of this so when he makes he check to dispel a curse he chooses to Fail his D20 roll and does not succeed in dispelling your body.

Note that while Miracle and Wish can restore a character to his original form, that doesn't necessarily mean that's a good idea. The character's original form is the dead body that was given up when Reincarnate made the new one. A Dick GM can corrupt those Wish spells in this case without even trying. Of course, if you have another Wish you can now return the original form to life...

Ack, you're right, Movin. Must be the 3.5 bleeding into PF. Sorry for the poor response. I should know better than to answer a question at 4 AM without looking it up first.

Miracle and Wish are supposed to be allowed to perform standard concepts without 'perversion' such as stat boosting and effects that only a Miracle or Wish (such as body restoration) can perform. It is when you ask for the moon that these spells should screw you. :) However, I agree some DMs might not see this writing in the spell and decide to screw with a player regardless. - Gauss

P.S. Yes, I know I wrote DM...Ive played D&D for too long to switch to GM even though I tried.

Thank you for your help. It is a problem because my GM can use it. But 1 min cast so it is cool. Hehe I also died, and I hope I will REINCARNATE:]
Thank you for the fast reply.
