Skull and Shackles Player's Guide?

Skull & Shackles

So, when can we expect a Player's Guide Download?

Historically, the player's guides have been released the same day as the first volume of the adventure path.

Silver Crusade

So some time in 2015 then?

Or within the next couple weeks.

Silver Crusade

Whichever comes first...

I actually kind of wish they would move this up to "When the first digital subscriber copies go out." Jade Regent, in particular, is close to unplayable without the GM having the Guide to have some idea on what to plan for, and Skull and Shackles may have even worse problems in that regard (what with the Guide containing the basics for the path's major subsystem.)

Actually, I believe that IS what they do.

Actually, no. The Player's Guides are posted on the "Street Date" which is when the PDF and book become available to buy from the store. Subscribers, on the other hand, get the PDF when their shipment goes into the queue, and the books start getting shipped so that the earliest subscribers should get them ON the street date.

In short, subscribers get their PDFs up to ten days early.

Pathfinder Maps, Pathfinder Accessories Subscriber; Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Charter Superscriber; Starfinder Charter Superscriber

Joseph Wilson's got it right. I've always been able dow download the player's guides along with my subscription copy of the first volume of a new adventure path.

As the street date of Pathfinder Adventure Path #55 is listed as "approximately April 25", and subscriber copies usually are mailed out starting two weeks earlier, I'd expect that the player's guide will be made available some time next week.

Yeah, if I end up being wrong... well then, I'm wrong. But this is how I remember the last few APs going.

A little detective work shows that the Jade Regent Player's Guide went live on July 27th of last year. Brinewall Legacy's streetdate was August 4th. So, basically a week before (or, just a couple days after subscriptions copies started going out).

As for the 4/25 date for Wormwood, that was put in place when the estimated subscriptions shipments for April was put at "Late April." That timeline has since changed to "Mid April." I don't think we have all that much longer to wait.

What I don't understand is why they haven't released the Player's Guide early given the following facts:

- Tons of people are already clamoring for it
- It is bound to drum up interest in the AP
- It's free so they'd not be releasing paid content without getting paid
- The delay has been cited numerous times as having been caused by production delays on their side so an early release could be seen as recompense to customers

please! please! please! paizo release the player's guide. please!, please!

did it work? is it out? oh well.

As you said, it is a free product. This means if Paizo must decide between producing it and a product that makes money, it is almost the product that makes money that takes precedence. Because of this, the players guide is usually going through final layout up until 2 or 3 days before it is given to us. I think that there was one players guide that was up on the site before everyone at paizo had read the email saying that the file was ready (but that could have been an exaggeration expressed in one of the chats). So catching up from the same delay means that the players guide might not be done yet for all we know.

Thanks, Cpt_kirstov. You bring up a good point that the Player's Guide may not even have been completed yet. I guess we tend to think of this stuff as being all done and just sitting there, waiting to be released. I picture James Jacobs playing the role of Zeus, "RELEASE THE KRAKEN... err... PLAYER'S GUIDE!"
