I've played in and finished Second Darkness. That's it. :(

I'm currently playing in Kingmaker (we started in 2010) and it looks like we'll finish this year. :)

How 'bout you?

I played in and finished Curse of the Crimson Throne. I GMed Rise of the Runelords up to the middle/end of book three where three quarters of the group died and we decided not to go on. I'm currently GMing Jade Regeant (just started!).

So in total, one.

Only Curse of the Crimson Throne. Wanted to finish Council of Thieves but that would have left us with a two man party. SD needed heavy revision and I didn't have the time to do it. I would LOVE to play Rise of the Runelords as well as Kingmaker. It's looking like I'll be running Jade Regent and playing in Skull & Shackles.

Carrion Crown we finished

Kingmaker we are in the 6th book and will probably finish by the end of April

Rise of the Runelord we only made it through book 4. The DM quit and the players were not having a good time so no one wanted to take over for book 5 & 6. The DM was playing it as him against the players and there was a lot of animosity about strange decisions that made no sense, overturning rules to help creatures survive, blatant rule breaking.

Seropent Skull we made it through book 3 and stopped but we are going to pick it up again after an 8 month break when we finish kingmaker, not sure if we'll get through it.

I GM'd Age of Worms, then Runelords. (Six players for each of those, although the exact members fluctuated on rare occasions.)

I'm currently running Kingmaker (just completed the first chapter) for a group of 7 players.

I also GM'd more than half of Savage Tide (but we never finished) and the first third of Crimson Throne (ditto). But these two were just my husband and me - it's a lot easier for us to stick through an entire path when we have a full group of players.

The Exchange

Savage Tide and Rise of the Runelords (been playing RotRL for about 2.5-3 yrs)....
Getting ready to start a heavily modified Second Darkness. I would love to do more but good lord....2 Paths come out per year and every path takes around 2 yrs to play....wish they were slightly shorter with ideas to fill them into longer paths if you wished. I would love to play in more of the stories.

I have GMd Savage Tide, Runelords, and Curse from start to finish. We are currently on book 5 of Carrion. All with the same players.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

I own The Shackled City and all 9 Pathfinder Adventure Paths.
I have finished 0 Adventure Paths.
I have started 0 Adventure Paths.

I'd like to run Carrion Crown some day. It's my favorite.

Dark Archive

Not having much luck either. I have played:

Book 1 and half of Book 2 of Rise of the Runelords.
Book 1 (again), Book 2 and Book 3 of Rise of the Runelords.
Book 1 of Curse of the Crimson Throne.
Book 1 (again), Book 2 and Book 3 of Curse of the Crimson Throne.

All of these adventure paths ended when the groups imploded due to people's real life commitments.

I tried to run Carrion Crown. Did all the prep and the group fell apart before we even began :(

Liberty's Edge

Currently running CoT and we just started Book 4

I ran a group halfway(end of Book 3) through Kingmaker and then took a break.

Lastly, I am currently playing Carrion Crown and we just started Book 2

I own all 9 APs and I would really love to run a group through the revised RotR when it comes out.

Council of thieve where we didn't finish it but got to the last book, the players were just too lost in what do and things ended there.

Running King Maker and we are one gaming session from the end.

Liberty's Edge

I GMd Legacy of Fire start to finish.

RPG Superstar 2013 Top 8

Lots.
Age of Worms
Rise of the Runelords
Curse of the Crimson Throne
Legacy of Fire
Council of Thieves

All as GM.

Own them all, all the way back to Shackled City.

I have run Curse of the Crimson Throne to its completion.

I have run a good chunk of Legacy of Fire using 4th edition.

I am about to finish up a Kingmaker-esque campaign using a retroclone of my own design.

I start as a player with Jade Regent using Pathfinder next month.

I will run a Way of the Wicked campaign as soon as Lords of Dunharrow (my Kingmaker campaign) wraps up.

I've finished as a GM... none. First time with Kingmaker, the game ended during the end of book two thanks to paranoid players imploding against themselves. Second time with Kingmaker, most the players just up and vanished before I could start pulling in events from the second book. Third time with Kingmaker, they're about halfway done with the book that has seen a lot of bad luck. GMed Carrion Crown, ended with a TPK against the trolls at the Gatehouse in the second book. Working on Legacy of Fire, players would have finished with book two if real life wasn't hounding everyone.

As a player I can't claim to have finished any game either. Finished the first book of Council of Thieves, a player disappeared and I was the only one that wanted to continue from what it looked like. And currently playing a modified Kingmaker with a GM that would do a lot better GMing Call of Cthulhu with all the nightmares he's given the group.

Interesting answers. A very small sample set to be sure but it is confirming my suspicions that the vast majority of AP customers don't even come close to finishing one AP, let alone multiple.

Oh well, I hope more people chime in with better results. Otherwise I fear for the 6 part AP as a product. Whats the point of spending all that time and effort to make a cohesive 6 part campaign when the majority of customers are barely getting to part 3?

Well, FWIW, my group will always run them all the way to the end. I'm even going to run the dreaded Serpent Skull AP next. From what I've read (and based on my AP GMing experience) it's really pretty good after all.

Grand Lodge

Currently on book 5 of CoT and book 4 of RoRL, both as GM.

Own all the APs, probably going to GM Tsar next though.

I havent finished any (we're halfway through Age of Worms) but I still look forward to the upcoming APs as much as I did when I first discovered Shackled City. I think there is a significant cohort of subscribers who arent planning on playing all the APs, so hopefully they will continue strong, even if most of the players arent playing them through in their entirety.

.
Having said that, personally I'm hoping they experiment with a 7/5 split in the nearish future - I think there are some stories which drag over six episodes and others which end up feeling rushed. With luck a variance of +/-1 wouldnt be enough to make people leave if they are particularly wedded to six episodes (or particularly opposed to longer or shorter paths).

I have them all from Shackled City.

I have GM'd and finished the follow ones.

Rise of the Runelords.

Curse of the Crimson Throne.

I started running Second Darkness but the group fell apart in the third chapter - player thing.

I am currently running both Serpent Skull and Carrion Crown and we are in Chapter three of each. They are both going well.

I am playing in Legacy of Fire currently and we are also in Chapter three.

Liberty's Edge

I GM'ed Age of Worms and Rise of the Runelords.

Liberty's Edge

I find my interest in AP's wanes around book 4. The farthest I've gotten (DMing for my group, as for the most part they are too lazy to run anything as a DM themselves beyond one night's session)was playing up to halfway through the Isle of Dread in Savage Tide (My favorite path so far), then the guy running it had GF issues and left us hanging for 3 months, where I took over. We made it to the Wells of Darkness and it petered as everyone did other things during the summer months.

Age of worms we started @ Spire of Darkness, because everyone had 14th level guys already they wanted to play. I did run Three faces of Evil as a one-off for their lower elvel guys (Too good a segment to not have them do it).

Our Kingmaker game is just starting Blood for Blood (We had a player start DMing Serpents Skull after book 3 so I could take a break and play a PC, but twice he just skimmed over the material from book 1 for two sessions and everyone got pissed because he never bothered actually reading it enough to DM it).

For me, it's a level thing. I get tired of DMing for PC's that hit level 9+. That's right when my group enjoys their answer-for-everything levels. So I made us use slow-xp track for Kingmaker. We've been going a good solid year (Averaging 10-12 hours a game, noon to 11PM-ish)....and now they are level 9 and my interest is waning like clockwork....

Scarab Sages

Two, soon to be Four: Rise of the Runelords (player) and Second Darkness (player)

We're one or two session short of ending two more APs: Legacy of Fire (player) and Council of Thieves (GM)

And we're in Book One of Carrion Crown (GM)

I GM'ed Kingmaker through book 5. The group made peace with the BBEG in book 6 by giving her what she wanted, so they secured their kingdom without the need for running book 6.

Recently, I ran book 1&2 of Jade Regent. It started out good, but book 2 was a disappointment to me and I don't want to continue that campaign. The reason I didn't like book 2, appears to continue to be a problem through the rest of the AP. Namely, why don't the bad guys just eliminate the PCs in an organized fashion? The bad guys are not open to negotiation. The bad guy minions have 100% loyalty. The bad guys know what the protagonists look like and their general location (if not their exact location). They could easily amass their forces and wipe out the threat to their rulership in one fell swoop. It just doesn't make sense to me.

Since we stopped Jade Regent, another GM has started Rise of the Runelords.

Liberty's Edge

Sadly I've only played through part of Book 1 of RotRL.

I've GM'ed the entire first two books of Legacy of Fire and should be finishing that up eventually, though.

That's unfortunately it for me.

I've TPKed 2 groups in RotRL
Another group collapsed in chapter one.
Never finished

I played Second Darkness until we went undercover and I got killed doing something stupid. The group finished however.

Military deployments derailed our LoF game. We threatened to finish it when the guys cycled back. But then Paizo went and wrote a new ruleset so we got horribly distracted.

I played in CoT, but the game fell apart due to RL butting in, only 3 chapters.

The Kingmaker campaign has become a monster, 9 players and 2 DMs with a secondary group of 6 playing the main group's children that is off book. We should be done with chapter 5 by mid summer.

The new APs will have to wait.

I personally think that Souls for Smuggler's Shiv is the best adventure I've read in a looong time, it may get a one off even if the whole path isn't feasible. I seriously wish I'd never read it so I could play it, but alas the other DMs seem to be anti-pirate types.

Jade Regent hits all of my heartstrings so it will get the next go I think.

We did finish Curse of the Crimson Throne.

So that is 2 played out to finish. We would be better off on AP completion if we had been smart and not gotten married and had kids or joined the Marines or found jobs 8)

Second Darkness, Council of Thieves, Curse of the Crimson Throne, Kingmaker, Serpent's Skull, Carrion Crown and soon Jade Regent (on book #4).

I'm running Skulls and Shackles next, and then trying to navigate Shattered Star and Rise of the Runelords Reprint to find out which one we should run.

Oh, and I have Legacy of Fire as a double backup.

Dark Archive

Age of Worms to part 10 (of 12) - military deployment broke up the group. We keep talking about getting back to finish it but.. yeah...

RotRL to the end of book #2 - military deployment again and then the GM got out and moved back to Texas. Will be trying this again at the Anniversary Edition.

CotCT - FINISHED!

CoT to book #4 for me - work issues made me leave and the rest of the group called it quits after a total party defeat in book #5

Second Darkness to beginning of book #5 - GM and Players both agreed it would take too much work to make that stinker tolerable. Called it.

Currently playing in KM (at end of book 3) - going strong!
Currently running SS (at the end of book 3/beginning of book 4) - going great!

We will start with #6 of RotR next week (with me as GM).

We recently started #1 of Carrion Crown (me as player).

I played in Rise of the Runelords and I've GM'ed Savage Tide and Jade Regent. We finshed Jade Regent about two weeks ago.

I'm now preparing to do Legacy of fire.

GMed Age of Worms twice (3.5). Both groups TPKed, one at the 5th book and one at the 7th book.

GMed and finished Rise of The Runelords (3.5) and Curse of the Crimson Throne (3.p conversion).

Currently GMing Kingmaker (3.p). They are starting the 5th adventure on April 24th (I'm using a hybrid of Jason's original and the printed version). I'm aiming to have the campaign done end of May/mid June.

Starting on Legacy of Fire (3.p conversion) after Kingmaker is done.

I've played in one 4 hour session of Second Darkness (3.p). The DM had to take time off for RPG superstar for awhile, and then there was a break in time so it's on hiatus for a bit.

Silver Crusade

I started running AP's in May 2010. In that time we have completed the following:

All of Legacy Of Fire
All of Kingmaker
All of Carrion Crown
Book 1 of Rise of the Runelords (I'm going back to this when the compiled version comes out)
Book 1 of Serpent's Skull (abandoned because we didn't like it.)

Currently I am running the following:

Book 2 of Council of Thieves (with another player added to the group)
Book 1 of Curse of the Crimson Throne

My wife is running Second Darkness and we are currently between book 4 and 5. We started playing this in December 2011.

I have ran Rise of the Runelords twice and Curse of the Crimson Throne once. Now I'm running Second Darkness that will reach its ending in couple of months. I have played Second Darkness and Council of Thieves as players. So my count is five APs, soon six. My journey with Pathfinder started summer 2009 so I think that is nice number of finished APs.

I've played the first parts of Shackled City, Age of Worms, Savage Tide, Rise of the Runelords, Curse of the Crimson Throne, Second Darkness, Legacy of Fire, Council of Thieves, Serpent's Skull, Kingmaker and Carrion Crown (some of them more than once), and I've finished none of them. Some of the campaigns collapsed before completion, some are still ongoing.

The furthest I've gotten so far is Hall of Harsh Reflections (from Age of Worms) and Tides of Dread (from Savage Tide). Both are still ongoing. Fingers crossed...

(I've also played the start of Maure Castle, Red Hand of Doom and War of the Burning Sky, for what it's worth.)

Finished all of Age of Worms as a player, and even a post-game session for our epic characters.
Played through the first 'chapter' of Shackled City (twice).
Played through Ch1 and part of Ch2 for Rise of the Runelords.
Played through Ch3 of Council of Thieves (GM burned out on story).

Currently playing in a re-vamped story of The City of Barakus.
Currently GMing Curse of the Crimson Throne (will start Ch3 soon).
Currently playing in Serpents Skull (In Ch4, will pass back to CotCT after).

We're also currently debating amongst the group's GMs what we should start next and who will run it. We want to add players as well as widen the gap in levels between our various campaings. That and we're gaming addicts and want to play as many of the APs as possible before we have life changes or something. Oh and we're getting all the RotRL minis this summer and don't want the antagonists sitting around staring at the players too long before we start playing that campaign.

I think the AP product will continue to be popular. For those who are straight GMs, they can easily read each campaign and enjoy the written story. For my group.....well until we decide who is running what we've been trying not to spoil the campaigns by reading them.

Lesson Learned: Never live in a flood prone area. If you guys had made it through book 5, I was going to make it up to you in book 6. You would have the chance to wrap up a lot of loose threads from the other books and would have ended with closure for your party.

Currently into book 4 of Carrion Crown as a player and as a DM. Looks like we'll be finishing it because both groups want to stop what's happening. My Sunday group is debating on Skull & Shackles, Jade Regent, Kingmaker, or a home-brew. My Saturday night group, wifey wants to run Skull & Shackles.

good question

player ROTRL to end 2, didnt like this AP
player CaCr to end 2, still playing
GM KM to start of 5, still running
player SS to end of 2, still playing

I am GMing Savage tide. Started in 3.5 converted to pathfinder. just finishing book 4.

Playing Kingmaker and Serpents Skull both on book 2.

Was playing Age of worms. Finished book book six. Finished as GM did not want to convert it to pathfinder.

Let's see. I rejoined my gaming group as they were finishing Age of Worms and since then we've finished Second Darkness, Legacy of Fire, Council of Thieves, and Kingmaker. We played the first half of Carrion Crown and have started Serpent Skull for the second time (in Book 2). RotRL Anniversary edition is on deck and who knows what will come after that.

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

I've run Second Darkness start to finish.
I mined Rise of the Runelords first two books for inspiration for a gothic horror campaign that led to Expedition to Castle Ravenloft.

I've been a player in the entire Council of Thieves and Legacy of Fire. I've played in Carrion Crown up to the beginning of the fifth book, but the GM left the state so we had to end that.

I tried to run Kingmaker, but got bogged down by adding additional drama from Brevoy and neighboring kingdoms to make it "epic." All I did was burn myself out too soon. I ended it somewhere in the middle of book 2.

I'm planning to run Skull and Shackles.

Silver Crusade

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

I've never finished a full AP.

GM'd until end of Book 3 in Curse of the Crimson Throne, before the group broke up.

Started Kingmaker in April 2010, we only just finished book 3. Currently taking a break to play through book 3 of Legacy of Fire. With no sign of fatigue yet :-)

Sovereign Court

I've done Shackled City, Rise of the Runelords, Second Darkness, Curse of the Crimson Throne,

Did book one of Legacy of Fire, not impressed. Skipped Council of Thieves, lame premise, bad ending. Kingmaker is cool and I've got it ready for the right group but haven't gotten around to it.

Did Serpent's Skull (and wished I hadn't), did Carrion Crown (edited out weak lovecraft adventure), skipped Jade Regent (lame premise, not interested in eastern stuff whatsoever).

Now I'm just burned out on APs. They usually start strong then "hit the wall" at book 5 or so. Plot gets muddled, combats get grindy in order to advance you to the proper level for book 6. They're good for skeletons to hang a campaign on, but there is absolutely no way I'd run them as written any more.

Moderately interested in Skull and Shackles but there's no way I'd buy and play them immediately as released. Much better to have them play tested by others and avoid and edit out "Crazy and stupid". Trust point system anyone?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Only just recently have been able to get a consistently available group together to start playing the APs. I'm GMing Jade Regent at the moment, and we're having a blast, closing in on the grand finale. Another member of the group is super jazzed about Skull & Shackles and will be running that one. Both of us have a tendency to suffer GM burnout, so to alleviate that, we will be alternating adventures. When I finish running Brinewall, he'll do Wormwood. After that, we'll pick back up with Night of Frozen Shadows, etc...

Can't wait! Ninjas and Pirates FTW!

My first group made it to 11th level in serpent's skull. everyone died (curse you Midnight Spores!!!) then we did kingmaker for a bit (never made it past 1st level). the group then broke up for a variety of reasons. i'm now doing Carrion Crown with some brothers and will be kicking off the jade regent with my wife and kids this week:). so that would be none.

Scarab Sages

I'm currently running Shackled City. We started in 2007 at the beginning, converted to Pathfinder in 2010. The PCs have just reached the Fiery Sanctum (Thirteen Cages). After we finish with Adimarchus sometime next year I plan on running Kingmaker.

The only AP I've played in is Second Darkness, but we only finished the first chapter (GM moved).

The APs that I find the most interesting are Curse of the Crimson Throne, Legacy of Fire, Kingmaker, and Carrion Crown. Also very impressed with Way of the Wicked (I'd like to run this as a sequel to Kingmaker).

Least favorite APs are Second Darkness and Council of Thieves.

Paizo Employee CEO

Ran and finished Shackled City and Rise of the Runelords. Currently am playing in Kingmaker and we are in book three and going strong. My group plays once per week but only for around 3 hours per session, so it takes us a while to finish a campaign. But we are persistent and don't give up on the campaign before it is done!

I've also GM'd them through the Price of Immortality trilogy (with monster PCs).

-Skeld

I've played in and finished Shackled City and Curse of the Crimson Throne.

I've GMed and finished Rise of the Runelords.

I'm currently playing in Carrion Crown, Serpent's Skull and Council of Thieves; of these, I expect only Carrion Crown to finish in 2012, the rest sometime in 2013.

The also-rans:

I played most of the way through (to 17th level or so), but never finished, Savage Tide. Since our group stalled out over two years ago, I can safely say we won't ever finish it.

I ran only the first adventure of, but never finished, Kingmaker. I had to cut back on gaming when I got twins a year ago, and this one wasn't one of the games that survived the pruning. I hope to someday revive it, but realistically I don't think it'll happen.

I've DMd Shackled City to the end, and started up Legacy of Fire, which we've played trough the first two chapters. I've also played through the first four chapters of Second Darkness, and have just started the 5th chapter.
