Will you have the PDF available through the Paizo Store as well?

Our license with DriveThruRPG precludes us from doing this at the moment, but we are looking to getting permission. However, I don't have a timeframe as to when they might happen, sorry (we've asked; awaiting a reply).

Enjoy! Back to bug-hunting, print preparation, and wrestling the GM Guides into shape for pre-orders later in the month (along with the other game lines we're working on products for).

I'm a little disappointed that character creation isn't quite as compatible with baseline Pathfinder as was described above. It's not just one feat that makes the difference - ability score points are determined differently and unspent points become bonus skill ranks. It'll work out fine if doing an all-Earthdawn game, but it makes it harder to include characters not made with this guide.

Hi HappyDaze,

If you mean the Ability Score section on p.33, that's an Optional Rule (you don't have to use it). Just use the standard Pathfinder rules for character creation...

Kind regards, James

My order (#44) doesn't show a download link as yet--are y'all still working through some of these? I got the Savage Worlds version no problem and am very please with the PDF formatting thus far.

My bad, erian_7. I missed this early order (SQL fail). Fixed! You should be good to go now. Thanks for letting me know!

No problem, I look forward to checking it out after work!

Hmm, still no Download link. In the place where it should be (judging from my SW order) it says "NOTE: Downloads are not available until payment has been confirmed."

Hmmm... Weird. I can see your order and it's there. Let's take this off the forums (wrong place to be having this discussion). Can you please drop me an email to james@redbrickllc.com? I'm looking at your order details in the database now.

Sure, thanks!

I've only had time to flip thru the new book, but I've noticed from some of the comments on the RedBrick forums that there is already some potential errata. Has the books already been sent off for printing or is there a chance that some of the errata turned up by the pre-order folks might make it into the first printing?

Long Answer: The book was released early so that people could get their hands on it (and getting feedback early is always a good thing). There will be an update to the PDF once we finalize print files and get ready for shipping pre-orders. I will be running one more round of proofs before we commit to "print proper", so that will take a week or so. We are still aiming for an approximately mid-April print release, but I may delay that a week if I feel we're too rushed at the very last (quality takes priority).

Short Answer: There's still some feedback (and some errata) to go into the print book. That will be put in before it goes to print.

Hope this helps!

Kind regards, James

Fab. I'll take more care when reading so I can help point out anything I find :)

My biggest point of feed back is that I greatly dislike how you've forced so many classes into only one adept way. Barbarian, Cavalier, and Bard have exactly 1 option. Please, reconsider that and open the ways up to various classes, options are always good.

Yes. The links between classes and disciplines seem off to me as well.

In addition to the 3 classes ShadowcatX mentions as only having 1 option, Monks, Paladins, Alchemists, Gunslingers, Inquisitors and Oracles have none. That may intentional. Gunslingers certainly don't fit the setting. Probably not alchemists either, though they'd be easier to work in. The standard interpretations of Monk and Paladin might not fit the culture, but I don't really see why they couldn't fit.

Inquisitors and Oracles could easily fit under the rules for Clerics, which might need a little clarifying themselves: The Clerical Disciplines chart lists possible disciplines by Passion. I assume a Cleric of the appropriate Passion doesn't need to meet the standard Prerequisite for that Discipline feat. But then the Warrior adept prerequisite specifically says Cleric. Is that redundant or does it mean that a Cleric of any Passion can be a Warrior?

Some of the other associations seem off:
It would be nice to have a non-airborne option for the Barbarian. And non-barbarian options for the Sky Raider. None of the sky raider abilities seem tied to rage. I can see the flavor/cultural link there, but remember that in PF not all Barbarians are primitive tribesmen and not all savage tribesmen are Barbarians.

I don't see why only rogues can be Air Sailors. Neither the flavor or abilities seem linked to me.

Bards would make good dashing Swordsmen and it also seems odd that fighters can't be Swordsmen.
Troubadours all being Bards makes sense, but that doesn't mean that Bards can't have other options.

It might make sense to open Cavalryman and Archer to any character that wants to specialize in mounted combat or archery, respectively. Zen Archer Monks are an obvious fit for Archer. Rangers who plan to take a mount for an Animal companion would make good cavalrymen, even if they don't officially get the companion for a few levels. Same with Paladins. I'm not sure how to set those up as simple prerequisites though.

I'm not sure all of the combinations of arcane casters and magical disciplines make sense. Do Sumnmoners fit any of them? Do Sorcerers or Witches make sense as Wizard adepts (book-magic?)?
Again I'm not sure how to rewrite prerequisites to make it work.
Druids might fit nicely as Elementalists.

Most of this can be house-ruled based on character concept. It's probably too late to make major changes at this point anyway.

Thanks for the feedback!

Quick note: Paladin will satisfy Cavalryman prereq in the coming update.

Regarding clerics: Clerics waive all other prereq considerations for choosing a Discipline.

We understand that right now the selection seems a bit limited and shoehorned, but we wanted to establish a baseline and leave room for specializations (which will be tackled in the Player’s Companion). So things like Bladesman or Spearmaster will be able to be a fighter with slightly different feat choices, and "Dashing Swordsman" type archetypes, or more barbaric Warriors. We also wanted to save some of the base classes for future Disciplines, such as the Monk Discipline in the Cathay Player’s Guide, the Shaman, and so on.

The Game Master’s Companion (note, Companion, not Guide) will also offer advice for tweaking other classes (such as third-party classes) for existing Disciplines, because we can’t possibly cover them all.

In the end, we want as much variability as possible, but for right now, we want to leave room for growth. Ideally, we would like the kind of variability within Disciplines that you see in ED, due to their wide talent selections. Right now, though, we want to focus on what we consider more core, and then expanding outward from there.

So there's going to be a player's guide, a player's companion, a GM's guide, a GM's companion? How many books is it going to take to play the game?

The Companions won't be necessary at all to play the game.

Ok. You had me worried there for a moment.

I'm left wondering why monks are not able to follow the warrior discipline. They seem to fit it just fine.

There's definitely room for improvement with adepts, as I say in my review of it, the only thing I really didn't like is the Vancian spell casting, I always loved the spell matrix/thread weaving of Earthdawn, and was hoping to see a new skill-based magic system I could use in my Pathfinder Games.

All in all the fluff is there to support a Pathfinderized Earthdawn game. Some of the character creation guideline require some interpretation, but it's a fun looking game.

Is the feat to become an adept a free feat? Or is it the first level feat?

Discipline feats are an additional feat granted upon creation of your character.

There is also a very detailed break down/review of the pre-order PDF over at the Red Brick forums HERE.

As well as an overview I did concerning using the Player's Guide PDF on a Nook Touch

Sovereign Court

so there are out here ppl that have tried the game ? done some testing on classes and disciplines ? any feedback ?

Hi Pathfinder fans,

Just in case the announce gets missed:

May Update: Earthdawn Savage Worlds and Pathfinder Releases

An update on the status of these books. The PDFs for both Player's Guides have been updated and revised versions will be released to those who purchased them on both the RedBrick Online Shop and one OneBookShelf this week.

Thank you for your patience. Our apologies for the delays. Unfortunately, we identified a few errors, which required another proofing run. It's taken longer than expected, but we have layout formats locked in and the release process should be smoother moving forwards.

For Savage Worlds Edition Player's Guide pre-orders, books were ordered last week and we hope to have them for shipping soon. You will receive email notifications that your book has shipped. For Pathfinder Edition Player's Guide pre-orders, we are waiting on one last proof, then will be ordering the pre-orders for shipping.

In the meantime, pre-orders are still available from the RedBrick Shop. However, once the print order arrives, these will revert to full pricing. If you want to get your pre-order, now is the time to do it!

The Game Master's Guides are well into layout and the expanded development team has done a bunch of work on locating and fixing errors. You can expect this book to be available for pre-order next weekend. With the delays from taking the time to quality check the Player's Guide, unfortunately we are running a little late with the GM Guides; as a result, the pre-order period will be much shorter.

Next up after the GM Guide is the Parlainth Campaign Setting book.

Thank you for your ongoing patience. We are looking forward to getting books back into print (first cab off the rank, this time).

Now, back to the computer... :)

Kind regards, James

what happened to the Redbrick message boards?

They got shut down for some reason. I suppose if you are good at hunting up net info you could find some rumor but I haven't seen any official word on the whys or wherefores.

since James was answering questions here I was hoping he might chime in. I'm interested in the 3rd ed stuff as well as the SW and PF versions, but without their boards I don't know where to get info on the 3rd ed books (in the new format) release.

The news section is still up and running with regular updates. The pre-order PDFs have been updated and they are still taking discounted pre-orders. Current news is that they were waiting on one more proof for the Pathfinder edition and then it is off to the printer if approved.

Sorry I can't offer anything more official.

Hi Blastin,

We will be making more information on the "new format" ED3 books available closer to Gen Con. I'll make a point of cross-linking from this thread to keep people in the loop, and there will be some News Announcements about changes, etc., closer to release.

If you have anything specific that you do want to ask, however, feel free to drop me a PM or if it's not against Paizo's policy, post something up in the General Forums and/or here.

Kind regards, James

Hi everyone,

A bit of a News "double whammy", sorry (but in a good way).

May Update #2: Earthdawn SW and PF Player's Guides

and the big one:

Preorder Your Earthdawn SW or PF Game Master's Guide Now!

Back to the grindstone, folks. Next up after the GM's Guide is the Parlainth Campaign Setting book.

I'll also try to answer any questions you may have about the ED Pathfinder and Savage World Editions!

The PF (and SW) versions of ED have been updated now. Downloaded. I love the new way that disciplines work in the PF version. No more prerequisites.

Liberty's Edge

Is the discipline feat ever actually explained in the book? I know the feat makes you a member of an adept way, but is it ever written out like other feats are? (Ie. Benefit: blah blah blah.)

Yes. There is no Discipline feat exactly. There is a Discipline feat for each Adept way. Each does list the Benefits of that way, mostly access to skills.

Or at least it did in the version of the PDF I have. I haven't figured out how to download the new version/errata. I may have to wait until the physical book arrives.

ShadowcatX wrote:

The Discipline feat gives you two main pieces of info.

Benefit: Discipline skills
Karma Ritual: Info on how to do your karma ritual

Also, the feat serves as prereq for Adept feats.

The Cavalryman also adds a class feature.

My Troll Bard (Skald) Sky Raider will be interesting.

If you login to your account on the RedBrick Shop, then access your order information, you will see a link to download your PDF. All you need to do to get the latest version is download the ZIP file again (it's always linked to the most current version).

Any problems, just drop us an email via the Contact Us page. Always happy to help (and Dawn is much better at explaining things than I am). :)

Kind regards, James

Hi everyone,

As a note on Discipline feats, I boo-boo'd and left a prereq in for Sky Raiders. Sorry about that (eyes glazing over from all of the layout-fu going on, atm). So here's an errata, erratum, um, a correction:

Errata: EDPF Player's Guide, p.45: Remove the Prerequisite line from the Sky Raider Adept (there are no Prerequisites for the Discipline feats).

We will setup the Errata document soon and make that available from the Downloads section of the RedBrick Forums (http://forums.redbrickllc.com).

Kind regards, James

Thanks. I found it. Just didn't think to view the old order before.

Not sure if this has been put up--RedBrick forums are up and running!

Hi Everyone,

The July #1 Update is up on RedBrick's News and Announcements page, at:

http://redbrickllc.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=566

It's been a busy few weeks. Creatures of Barsaive (Pathfinder Edition) should be available in PDF format later this week, with the print edition due towards month end. For all you GMs, throw some Earthdawn critters at your Golarion players for a little fun and amusement... /grin

Kind regards, James
