33% kill ratio? That's something to be proud of! ;-)

Let's see (including former VCs)...

BobBob x3, DougDoug x? (lost count), Nani, Garringer. There's a handful of VC survivors too including Pratt and Morgan.

17 4-stars GM's now. I got mine on March 11th ;-)

What's the problem? You all live on the same island. How big can Australia be? It's only {this} big on my map ;-)

It wont matter for long anyway. I heard that the people who got Pluto's planetary status taken away are peitioning to have Australia's continental status taken as well. ;)

In the spirit of our "Everyone wins since you all participated" society, I'd rather see Greenland awarded continental status than take away Australia's :)

I think the more interesting question will be how many 5-star GMs will we have after PaizoCon & GenCon this year? And when is Mike Brock going to get his 5th Star?

hmmmm, Maybe I should request to be stationed at Thule Air Base and then convince Mike I should be VC of Greenland!

Also for Mike to become a 5 Star he would have to convince a Paizo staff member, a venture-captain, or a venture-lieutenant he deserves it, do you think that would happen?... ;)

Which time on the 11th? Guess I'm ahead of you thanks to UK time difference.

I got my 4th star the same day. I think we are both already counted.

I do appreciate that he's the first Campaign Manager to not automatically give himself 5 Stars. I just wonder when he'll ever have the time to qualify with how busy he's been. I really don't think he's going to be running any tables at PaizoCon or GenCon. He'll have more important things to do.

I could be mistaken. I know Mark didn't either, but he was only acting Campaign Manager. He was never confirmed by Congress.

Of the 17 4-star GMs, I wonder how many will attend PaizoCon or Gen Con?

At least we won't lose any until after Gen Con 2013.

Despite my being tempted to take it from you right now just for asking, you'll have a full season under these rules to maintain the star, so the rest of this season is a freebie.

Yeah, I was going to make a suggestion for 4.1.1, that existing 5-star GM's be qualified to judge a potential candidate.

First - congratulation fellow 4 star GM.

I just reread what Mike has posted and spotted the date 1st of March.

This likely makes me number 17 and you number 18 - unless someone sneaked in ahead of me.

PS: Congratulations Crispy to the third star - we can't leave a gap here in the UK.

You are still mad that you couldn't kill my character before I was a VC or CC. You were what, the 6th or 7th 5 star GM? You are far down the waiting list :-) I only settle for the best. Request denied.

When I finally get to 150 sessions GMed. I've already met my special and exclusives requirement.

That's actually funny. I have been discussing organized play in Greenland with VC Diego Winterborg in the past week. I think Nuuk is the city to focus on as it has 15,000 residents.

I will have several shots this year at Connecitcon, Pax East, Paizo Con UK, Origins and Dragon Con :)

I have 6 more cons this year where I am not coordinating I could get close to my 150 games GMed soon!

here's your chance Dragnmoon! Put in a request for TDY to Thule! It'll get you brownie points at work and you can get in 6 months to work on being CV of Greenland!

It can't be TDY. It has to be permanent change of station.

I guess I'm confused. Doug Miles. The other Doug, out in Las Vegas. Josh Frost. Maybe some others I'm forgetting....

I see how you could be the 4th 5-star GM. But I don't see as how you could be #2.

I just saw Josh Frost's profile yesterday. He's only a 2 star GM.

The Exchange ***** Venture-Lieutenant, Michigan—Detroit

In fairness to Kyle, he was legitimately awarded 5-Star status at PaizoCon 2011 at the same time as Jason Roeder, making him tied for 2nd. Jason had hit 4-Star status well ahead of anyone else, but had to wait until PaizoCon to get his mojo confirmed. Bob & Stephen White would have been 5-Stars if they could have attended. Doug Daulton is an honorary 5-Star and Josh gave himself 5-Stars but probable wouldn't have even hit 3-Stars had his sessions been recorded (I suspect that much of his GMing never got reported since it pre-dated the reporting system).

I was happy to come in behind Doug. Doug deserved a 6th star before anyone was even close to getting their 5th. I still think he deserves a 6th star, or a silver star, or some other status symbol.

And Doug's right, Bob, Jason, Stephen, and I think even one or two of the UK guys were at 4 stars before me. And they all probably have more scenarios under their belt at this point.

Bruce is an awesome judge.

If you want to experience his judging prowess you can join us both at Kingdom Con 2012 (Con = www.kingdom-con.com/ , registration = www.warhorn.net/kingdom-con-2012/) this weekend in sunny San Diego, CA.

Two 4 stars no waiting.

I will also be attending GenCon this year.

If I can get a Game going on Memorial Day weekend, it will be in Late May, if not then it will be at PaizoCon.

Edit: NM, PaizoCon is in July, so I will get it in June...

Don't, we're just a bunch of yahoos that had the time to GM. Granted it was A LOT, but I've met quite a few GM's who are far superior to me and will never even get to three stars, let alone five. It stands to reason the more you GM, the better you will get, but IMO, the star system is more of a way to acknowledge the dedication of our membership rather than a direct measure of quality.

That being said, if you can volunteer more time to the society, locally or at conventions, we welcome you. PFS is always in need of more GM's.

I would've been on the brink of my 3rd star, but I actually wrangled enough GMs at our local shop for the last several weeks that I've been able to play and not run! :P

I am the PFS event organizer at my FLGS. Twice a month there and I also GM once every couple months at another store. I kinda need some assistance figuring out how to get more involved at conventions. They seem very intimidating to me. I'm sure my local VC wouldn't mind helping me out. That is what they're there for, right?

Your local VC is a good resource, also, don't be afraid to volunteer for cons near you that you see advertised on the boards. Most convention coordinators are more than happy to have people volunteer to GM for their convention.

It's true that conventions are larger affairs than a gameday at a local store where you know all the players. However, they shouldn't be intimidating:

  • while there may be more tables running than you're used to, unless you're organising the event, you only GM one table at a time. Think of it like running your local table among others all running their local tables all at a common event. And you may be able to play some / GM some;
  • you might be able to re-run familiar scenarios that you've already GMed for your local players (though conventions often feature new release scenarios, so you might be required to prep a new release prior to the event); and
  • gaming with different players can be very refreshing and gives you a new perspective on the game - this last reason is why I enjoy GMing at conventions so much, new players and experienced players alike, different character builds and unique takes on roleplaying - I've made many lasting friendships with players and GMs from all over Australia who I've met at conventions.

I'd highly recommend getting involved next time there's an opportunity to do so.

Come to Kublacon 2012 and I'll teach you more than you want to know. We'll have 125 tables of PFS goodness and I can put you on the front lines, get you battle-tested (with support), and show you the big picture of how to make a convention go.

Nope, not even kidding. :) This convention is going to rock.

Consider this a personal and open invite both to you, roll4initiative, and to anyone else who wants to learn more about how to run a convention.
