max possible feats?

Rules Questions

working on a new character sheet/portfolio as my players are finding the pathfinder stock character sheet too crunched, small, and not detailed enough. so i got to the feat section and i came up with 22 feats for a human fighter at level 20. This seemed the class that could get the most feats per raw but am i correct? is there any other class/combo per pathfinder published books only and a max level of 20 that could possibly get more than that? i got 10 for character class lvl 20+ human bonus feat+11 for 20 levels of fighter. so is 22 truly the max? i added 4 more spaces for good measure...

22 is it. No other class gets a feat at every level.
Have you tried the Neceros pathfinder sheets?

Multiclassing gives you more, don't know how many, though. :-)

How so? Even taking classes like the monk that give free feats at first level I am thinking you would run out of bonus or free feats before you got to level 20.

1 level dip alchemist already gives you 1 more feat. There are many more dip combos that will increase that :-)

alchemist
monk
sorcerer
ranger?
wizard
2nd level ranger
2nd level monk

I am too lazy to continue this. It probably works if I start looking into archetypes and PRC's. I don't think any character made for a game will have that many feats though.

I also think 26 is enough. Everything beyond that is a rare or unlikely case, no common one :-)

I'm not going to go through the different combinations (mostly because I should be in bed and not online), but I would think that if you give up the 1st level fighter feat to pick up a 1st level alchemist feat, don't you just end up with the same number of feats at the end?

You get 2 extra feats at first level there :-)

if you count feats that you can't choose, then the unbreakable gets 3 more, 2 instead of 1 at lvl 1, and weapon training 1 & 2 are replaced by specific feats.

HMMM wow fast replies. i think i will bump up to 26 just to be on the safe side, i think there may be some magic items that grant feats too. were can the Neceros pathfinder sheets be found? i'm almost done with mine but i wouldn't mind taking a peak at some other formats.

There is a regular pathfinder sheet, and an autofill one. It does the CMD checks for small characters incorrectly, and it does not give a +3 to perception as class skill even when the box is checked.

Regular sheet

He is redoing the website, and all the other sheets I see online are the regular ones.

I just found the auto calculating version.

It shouldn't be too too hard to figure out.

First, we'll start by ignoring the feats every character gets when levelling up. Since every character gets those, that's just going to confuse things. We'll just remember to add 10 to the final total.

First, let's start with races. Humans and Half-elves both get a bonus feat, so you can pick whichever of those you want. That's 1. Total so far: 1

What we're going to do to start with is look for classes where level 1 in the class can get us TWO bonus feats. Those are pretty clearly going to be pretty few and far between, but there's some. Then we'll fill out as much as we can with places where we can get 1 bonus feat for taking a level, like fighter.

Several cleric domains grant bonus feats. Darkness gives Blind-Fight, Rune gives Scribe Scroll. Nobody has both of those, at least not that I could find (I guess it's hard to read in the dark). Black Powder Inquisition, on the other hand, gives TWO bonus feats - EWP (Firearms) and Gunsmithing, but those are common bonus feats, so we'll wait on that. Spellkiller inquisition gives a bonus feat as well - Disruptive. That means that we have four domains available to us that give at least one bonus feat to spread around three classes. We may want to reserve Darkness for our Druid level, since I don't think they can get any of the others. There's a reasonable chance we'll get the gun feats elsewhere though, so we might only need three slots.

The cleric archetype Crusader gives a bonus feat and gives up a domain. I'm going to randomly pick Improved Shield Bash as our feat, since I doubt we'll get that anywhere else, so we'll go with that. We're a Crusader of a deity that's giving us the Spellkiller inquisition. (We'll get Scribe Scroll from our Wizard level, the gun feats elsewhere, and Blind-fight with our druid level.)

So far:

Human Crusader Cleric 1
Feats - Any (Human), Improved Shield Bash, Disruptive

Let's look next to the Gunslinger. It's important for us to take some archetype that does NOT give us proficiency with all firearms, so that we can get EWP (Firearms) as a bonus feat somewhere else. (Of course, we could also just take the gunslinger level later.) The gunslinger gets Gunsmithing as a bonus feat, and Musket Master gets Rapid Reload (Muskets).

Human Crusader Cleric 1/Musket Master Gunslinger 1/
Feats - Any (Human), Improved Shield Bash, Disruptive, Rapid Reload (Muskets), Gunsmithing,

Wizard time - Siege Mage gets us Siege Engineer instead of scribe scroll. That puts the Rune domain back into play, so we'll go with that.

Human Crusader Cleric 1/Musket Master Gunslinger 1/Siege Mage Wizard 1
Feats - Any (Human), Improved Shield Bash, Disruptive, Rapid Reload (Muskets), Gunsmithing, Siege Engineer

Bard: Arcane Duelist gets Arcane Strike as a free feat. They get combat casting as a free feat at second level, so we're going two deep on this one. Dawnflower Dervish gets Dervish Dance as a bonus feat, but it's not compatable and ends up being a wash if it keeps us from getting the Rune domain. We like Saranrae anyway, though, because she has paladins. (And hopefully bat druids.) We could be a Geisha instead of an Arcane Duelist for Scribe Scroll instead of Arcane Strike, but whatever. That does make the build funnier, but we might get Scribe Scroll from somehwhere else. Lotus Geisha would get us Spell Focus (Enchantment), but it's again incompatible. The incompatible Magician gets Imp. counterspell.

Human Crusader Cleric 1/Musket Master Gunslinger 1/Siege Mage Wizard 1/Arcane Duelist Bard 2
Feats - Any (Human), Improved Shield Bash, Disruptive, Rapid Reload (Muskets), Gunsmithing, Siege Engineer, Arcane Strike, Combat Casting.

Boy am I glad to be done with Bard. A blight, cave or bat druid can get the Darkness domain, and thus Blind-Fight. An urban druid can get Rune, and thus Scribe Scroll. I have randomly selected Bat Shaman. Note that if we ever change to a prohibited alignment, we probably lose Blind-Fight.

Human Crusader Cleric 1/Musket Master Gunslinger 1/Siege Mage Wizard 1/Arcane Duelist Bard 2/Bat Shaman Druid
Feats - Any (Human), Improved Shield Bash, Disruptive, Rapid Reload (Muskets), Gunsmithing, Siege Engineer, Arcane Strike, Combat Casting, Blind-Fight

Fighter is nice and simple. Two levels is two feats. Dragoon, Cad, Lore Warden and Unbreakable all give extras somewhere down the line and are all incompatible - they all give up shield use. I picked Lore Warden because I figure that Combat Expertise was less likely to show up elsewhere. Our fighter feats will be... Death from Above and Prone Slinger.

Human Crusader Cleric 1/Musket Master Gunslinger 1/Siege Mage Wizard 1/Arcane Duelist Bard 2/Bat Shaman Druid 1/Lore Warden Fighter 2
Feats - Any (Human), Improved Shield Bash, Disruptive, Rapid Reload (Muskets), Gunsmithing, Siege Engineer, Arcane Strike, Combat Casting, Blind-Fight, Death from Above, Prone Slinger, Combat Expertise

Eight levels in, and we have 13 feats, plus the level up feats.

Monk gets IUS and a bonus feat at each of the first two levels, and Stunning Fist on top of that. Weapon Adept, Monk of the Sacred Mountain, and Zen Archer each up our bonus feats by 1 in some fashion. I have randomly selected Weapon Adept. Our monk bonus feats will be Deflect Arrows and Scorpion Style.

Human Crusader Cleric 1/Musket Master Gunslinger 1/Siege Mage Wizard 1/Arcane Duelist Bard 2/Bat Shaman Druid 1/Lore Warden Fighter 2/Weapon Adept Monk 2
Feats - Any (Human), Improved Shield Bash, Disruptive, Rapid Reload (Muskets), Gunsmithing, Siege Engineer, Arcane Strike, Combat Casting, Blind-Fight, Death from Above, Prone Slinger, Combat Expertise, Improved Unarmed Strike, Scorpion Style, Deflect Arrows, Weapon Focus (Kama), Perfect Strike

10 levels down, 10 to go

Paladin's a little tricky. For one, if bonus feats are class features, we can't have both Paladin and druid at the same time. Paladin can get us only one bonus feat we don't already have, though. (It could get us two if we ditch gunslinger, but that will probably turn out to be inefficient.) So for now, we're not going to be a paladin, with the option to come back to it.

Rangers get free feats at second and third level. That's okay, but it makes us take a level without a bonus feat at ranger 1. We'll get back to you. Rogue lets us get a feat at level 1 with Pirate, but that gives up the level 2 combat trick, so we're only taking one level of Pirate, which gives us Sea Legs.

Human Crusader Cleric 1/Musket Master Gunslinger 1/Siege Mage Wizard 1/Arcane Duelist Bard 2/Bat Shaman Druid 1/Lore Warden Fighter 2/Weapon Adept Monk 2/Pirate Rogue 1
Feats - Any (Human), Improved Shield Bash, Disruptive, Rapid Reload (Muskets), Gunsmithing, Siege Engineer, Arcane Strike, Combat Casting, Blind-Fight, Death from Above, Prone Slinger, Combat Expertise, Improved Unarmed Strike, Scorpion Style, Deflect Arrows, Weapon Focus (Kama), Perfect Strike, Sea Legs

Sorcerers get Eschew Materials as a free feat. Some stuff trades this in, but I don't really care.

Human Crusader Cleric 1/Musket Master Gunslinger 1/Siege Mage Wizard 1/Arcane Duelist Bard 2/Bat Shaman Druid 1/Lore Warden Fighter 2/Weapon Adept Monk 2/Pirate Rogue 1/Sorcerer 1
Feats - Any (Human), Improved Shield Bash, Disruptive, Rapid Reload (Muskets), Gunsmithing, Siege Engineer, Arcane Strike, Combat Casting, Blind-Fight, Death from Above, Prone Slinger, Combat Expertise, Improved Unarmed Strike, Scorpion Style, Deflect Arrows, Weapon Focus (Kama), Perfect Strike, Sea Legs, Eschew Materials

12 Down.

Alchemists get Brew Potion and Throw Anything at level 1. Yay.

Human Crusader Cleric 1/Musket Master Gunslinger 1/Siege Mage Wizard 1/Arcane Duelist Bard 2/Bat Shaman Druid 1/Lore Warden Fighter 2/Weapon Adept Monk 2/Pirate Rogue 1/Sorcerer 1/Alchemist 1
Feats - Any (Human), Improved Shield Bash, Disruptive, Rapid Reload (Muskets), Gunsmithing, Siege Engineer, Arcane Strike, Combat Casting, Blind-Fight, Death from Above, Prone Slinger, Combat Expertise, Improved Unarmed Strike, Scorpion Style, Deflect Arrows, Weapon Focus (Kama), Perfect Strike, Sea Legs, Eschew Materials, Brew Potion, Throw Anything

13 Down.

Cavaliers get a bonus teamwork feat at level 1. Order of the Cockatrice gives Dazzling Display at level 2.

Human Crusader Cleric 1/Musket Master Gunslinger 1/Siege Mage Wizard 1/Arcane Duelist Bard 2/Bat Shaman Druid 1/Lore Warden Fighter 2/Weapon Adept Monk 2/Pirate Rogue 1/Sorcerer 1/Alchemist 1/Order of the Cockatrice Cavalier 2
Feats - Any (Human), Improved Shield Bash, Disruptive, Rapid Reload (Muskets), Gunsmithing, Siege Engineer, Arcane Strike, Combat Casting, Blind-Fight, Death from Above, Prone Slinger, Combat Expertise, Improved Unarmed Strike, Scorpion Style, Deflect Arrows, Weapon Focus (Kama), Perfect Strike, Sea Legs, Eschew Materials, Brew Potion, Throw Anything, Paired Opportunists, Dazzling Display

15 down

Inquisitor gets a domain, which we're finally using to get Rune. I'm going to assume without checking that there's some alignment/deity combo that makes this work okay.

Human Crusader Cleric 1/Musket Master Gunslinger 1/Siege Mage Wizard 1/Arcane Duelist Bard 2/Bat Shaman Druid 1/Lore Warden Fighter 2/Weapon Adept Monk 2/Pirate Rogue 1/Sorcerer 1/Alchemist 1/Order of the Cockatrice Cavalier 2/Inquisitor 1
Feats - Any (Human), Improved Shield Bash, Disruptive, Rapid Reload (Muskets), Gunsmithing, Siege Engineer, Arcane Strike, Combat Casting, Blind-Fight, Death from Above, Prone Slinger, Combat Expertise, Improved Unarmed Strike, Scorpion Style, Deflect Arrows, Weapon Focus (Kama), Perfect Strike, Sea Legs, Eschew Materials, Brew Potion, Throw Anything, Paired Opportunists, Dazzling Display, Scribe Scroll

16 down

Magus 1 is worth combat expertise and dodge if we're a Spire Defender. That means we should go back and change our fighter archetype to something else. Now it's dragoon. (That means we trade out Prone Slinger and Combat Expertise for Mounted Combat and Skill Focus (Ride).)

Human Crusader Cleric 1/Musket Master Gunslinger 1/Siege Mage Wizard 1/Arcane Duelist Bard 2/Bat Shaman Druid 1/Lore Warden Fighter 2/Weapon Adept Monk 2/Pirate Rogue 1/Sorcerer 1/Alchemist 1/Order of the Cockatrice Cavalier 2/Inquisitor 1/Spire Defender Magus 1
Feats - Any (Human), Improved Shield Bash, Disruptive, Rapid Reload (Muskets), Gunsmithing, Siege Engineer, Arcane Strike, Combat Casting, Blind-Fight, Death from Above, Mounted Combat, Skill Focus (Ride) Improved Unarmed Strike, Scorpion Style, Deflect Arrows, Weapon Focus (Kama), Perfect Strike, Sea Legs, Eschew Materials, Brew Potion, Throw Anything, Paired Opportunists, Dazzling Display, Scribe Scroll

Sudden realization: We don't want to be a Rogue (Pirate) any more. We want to be a regular rogue so we can start taking extra trick with two levels in it.

Human Crusader Cleric 1/Musket Master Gunslinger 1/Siege Mage Wizard 1/Arcane Duelist Bard 2/Bat Shaman Druid 1/Lore Warden Fighter 2/Weapon Adept Monk 2/Sorcerer 1/Alchemist 1/Order of the Cockatrice Cavalier 2/Inquisitor 1/Spire Defender Magus 1/Rogue 2
Feats - Any (Human), Improved Shield Bash, Disruptive, Rapid Reload (Muskets), Gunsmithing, Siege Engineer, Arcane Strike, Combat Casting, Blind-Fight, Death from Above, Mounted Combat, Skill Focus (Ride) Improved Unarmed Strike, Scorpion Style, Deflect Arrows, Weapon Focus (Kama), Perfect Strike, Eschew Materials, Brew Potion, Throw Anything, Paired Opportunists, Dazzling Display, Scribe Scroll

18 down and I'm running out of classes and I don't want to have to look at PrCs.

A few oracle mysteries give bonus feats as revelations, but none give more than one. I picked Battle, for Weapon Focus. Let's get weapon focus with that musket we have.

Human Crusader Cleric 1/Musket Master Gunslinger 1/Siege Mage Wizard 1/Arcane Duelist Bard 2/Bat Shaman Druid 1/Lore Warden Fighter 2/Weapon Adept Monk 2/Sorcerer 1/Alchemist 1/Order of the Cockatrice Cavalier 2/Inquisitor 1/Spire Defender Magus 1/Rogue 2/Oracle of Battle 1/
Feats - Any (Human), Improved Shield Bash, Disruptive, Rapid Reload (Muskets), Gunsmithing, Siege Engineer, Arcane Strike, Combat Casting, Blind-Fight, Death from Above, Mounted Combat, Skill Focus (Ride) Improved Unarmed Strike, Scorpion Style, Deflect Arrows, Weapon Focus (Kama), Perfect Strike, Eschew Materials, Brew Potion, Throw Anything, Paired Opportunists, Dazzling Display, Scribe Scroll, Weapon Focus (Musket)

19 down. Witches can get Brew Potion as a bonus feat at level 1, but that's redundant with Alchemist. That means I get to look through every PrC for something that gives a bonus feat on entry. Yay. Loremaster would work, but we don't qualify for that. Same with Eldritch Knight. Red Mantis Assassin, on the other hand, works fine - we just need to blow a bunch of our feats on the prereqs and not become a druid until after we're done being a red mantis assassin.

Human Crusader Cleric 1/Musket Master Gunslinger 1/Siege Mage Wizard 1/Arcane Duelist Bard 2/Bat Shaman Druid 1/Lore Warden Fighter 2/Weapon Adept Monk 2/Sorcerer 1/Alchemist 1/Order of the Cockatrice Cavalier 2/Inquisitor 1/Spire Defender Magus 1/Rogue 2/Oracle of Battle 1/Red Mantis Assassin 1
Feats - Any (Human), Improved Shield Bash, Disruptive, Rapid Reload (Muskets), Gunsmithing, Siege Engineer, Arcane Strike, Combat Casting, Blind-Fight, Death from Above, Mounted Combat, Skill Focus (Ride) Improved Unarmed Strike, Scorpion Style, Deflect Arrows, Weapon Focus (Kama), Perfect Strike, Eschew Materials, Brew Potion, Throw Anything, Paired Opportunists, Dazzling Display, Scribe Scroll, Weapon Focus (Musket), Weapon Specialization (Sawtooth Sabre)

Now, how can we use our 10 regular feats to get even more feats? That's where being a rogue 2 comes in. We know we have to blow four of our ten feats on the Red Mantis Assassin Prereqs (or fewer if we were smarter with other choices, but that'll turn out to not matter.) By being a rogue 2, we get a rogue talent. We'll us ethat rogue talent to get Weapon Training, which we'll use to get Weapon Focus. Then, we'll use some of our regular feats to get Combat Trick, Combat Swipe and Strong Impression, which give us a combat feat (We'll take another Weapon Focus I guess), Improved Steal, and Intimidating Prowess. That makes the final list look like this:

Feats - Any (Human), Improved Shield Bash, Disruptive, Rapid Reload (Muskets), Gunsmithing, Siege Engineer, Arcane Strike, Combat Casting, Blind-Fight, Death from Above, Mounted Combat, Skill Focus (Ride) Improved Unarmed Strike, Scorpion Style, Deflect Arrows, Weapon Focus (Kama), Perfect Strike, Eschew Materials, Brew Potion, Throw Anything, Paired Opportunists, Dazzling Display, Scribe Scroll, Weapon Focus (Musket), Weapon Specialization (Sawtooth Sabre), Weapon Focus (Sling), Weapon Focus (Longspear), Improved Steal, Intimidating Prowess.

Plus our ten leveling feats, some of which were spent on RMA requirements.

Grand total: 39 feats.

Joyd, I didn't read everything, but it's impressive nonetheless. Well done

edit: could it be that unbreakable, fighter archetype, could further help your build or am I missing something?

Unbreakable isn't compatible with Dragoon, since they both give up Tower Shield. Unbreakable would give us Endurance and Diehard instead of Mounted Combat and Skill Focus (Ride). (We're actually a Dragoon, not a Lore Warden, but I forgot to change it after that changed.) There are a few Fighter archetypes that are equally good, but they're all mutually incompatable
