I typed Ghostbuster and ghostbusters into the search bar, but didn't find anything to what I was looking for. Basically, I'm looking for the pathfinder equivalent of a ghostbuster. Anything you guys have ideas on? I was thinking of using the artificer to get this job done, but that may not be the right route, at least spell wise. I believe they are divine and arcane in their weird science inventions. My GM said he would be willing to work with me on this, but first we had to make sure there were no other alternatives to use.
Having said that, what spell combos, wondrous/magic items, or artificer inventions do you think would accomplish this?
My GM has given me the following list of things that need to be accomplished:
1) Proton pack/Neutrona Wand - You know, the bit they use to wrangle a ghost/hold it in stasis?
2) ghost trap - The, well, er.. trap that traps...ghosts... I thought about an Iron Flask, maybe there is an alternative? Maybe a small chest with Trap the Soul?
3) PKE meter/Goggles - I think a simple device with detect undead will suffice here. Maybe throw on detect magic with it?
Like I said, I'm thinking artificer, because of his weird science inventions, and that seemed like a good place to go. I appreciate anything you guys can offer in help.
I would go with alchemist, force damage bombs, reflavour them for a touch attack beam (and don't cross those beams!).
Trap: more difficult, something like dispelling bomb, but without high level stuff, it should be impossible to imprison those ghosts without killing them, I'm thinking of mirror of life trapping for uncorporal undead
Goggles, sure detect undead goggles seem fine.
Other possibility is gunslinger with some very special force ammunition.
The artificer is surely also a good starting point, but I only know the paizo classes.
Edit: trap, perhaps a portable hole or something with hydraulic push (pull).
For the trap just re-flavour a bag of holding.

This needs to be an Alchemist archetype. Imagine, that once you've captured a ghost and it is under your dominion for a length of time it becomes bound to you and you can now pull it out of your bag of holding and sick it on your enemies. That would be wicked. I would totally play this class and go by the name "Dr. Venkman".

For the Trap and PKE Meter, you might want to consider the Pocket Coffin and Spectral Torch from Super Genius Games.
Well, not sure if this is helping me or hindering me. My GM has said we will be using word magic, and while I normally don't have a problem with that, I do here because I'm trying to play an artificer.
