Do you ever do anything on weekends down there? It's too far for me to come from just north of Chicago on a week night (especially since I work until after 5 pm), but I might make the trip on a weekend.
Not at Lightspeed Hobbies, as we only have use of the shop for a few hours on Thursday. I know that the people in South Bend run on Saturday mornings.
Check with the Chicago venture captain -- there is a new one -- on a few things closer to you.

I've got places to play closer to me. There's plenty happening on the north side of Chicago and northwest suburbs right now, which is great for me.
I just figured I'd come and visit some time to meet some new people and play a game if it were more convenient.
I've only made this game day once when my wife was out of town. However, I would expect that many from this group came to the armory, being that the armory was in the neighborhood and Brian was organizing it on.

Lightspeed started on Thursdays back when Bob Jonquet was around our neck of the woods.
It's stayed on Thursdays out of habit mostly but honestly my weekends are too chaotic for a regular commitment.
The South Bend Guys play every other Saturday morning if you wanna meet some new people though.

I’m also in the Chicago area and I am really glad that PFS has really started to branch out more of late. When I last checked for PFS events for my area (before recently), the closest I found was Portage, IN. I am guessing it was probably your location, Brian.
Granted, it was probably a year or so ago when I checked last. However, there is a game store right near me (maybe 25 minutes) now that plays on Sundays, plan to go there this Sunday.

Where is there PFS in Chicago on Sundays? I know about Dice Dojo on the north side every Monday evening, and the new Woodfield group on Saturdays, but I didn't know about any Sunday group. Not that I'd go to every group every week, but knowing about all the options is a good thing.

It might be a bit of a drive for you, as I think you said you are on the north side of Chicago.
But Fair Game in Downers Grove. I’m in Aurora, so it’s not that far from me at all.
I saw Dice Dojo and the new Woodfield group when I did a recent search as well. But the problem is Saturday’s are usually pretty booked for me, including the day when our gaming group usually meets.
And Dice Dojo is a bit far, especially for a weeknight.

Yeah Fair Games started out as sort of a small teenager group over a year ago, which is when I played there. However, it now is primarily an adult group with 2-3 tables each week.
Dick also has a group in Greyslake on Saturday evenings, which might be closer to you Fromper. You could probably hit up Woodfield and then continue on to Greyslake. However Greyslake apparently is a fairly closed group, I believe due to space concerns.

Mike Lane is the contact for the Fair Game (Games?) location in Downers Grove. And where I haven't spoken to him directly, we've played phone tag with voice mail and he seems like a nice guy.
One thing I like about the place is that it seems more casual. You can show up a half hour or so before start of PFS, and Mike indicated in his message that they haven't had issues getting everyone a spot at a table.
Where when I've perused the website for Dojo Dice, and even the new group in Woodfield, sign-ups are online and almost everything is filled already well ahead of time.

I've never seen anyone turned away at Dice Dojo. We frequently have walk in players who aren't signed up, and we always find ways to accommodate them, even if it means adding another table on the fly. That's why I have so many PFS PCs - I keep running First Steps for newbies and need new character numbers to assign the GM credits. :P
Obviously, we prefer to have everyone signed up, so we know how many GMs we need in advance, but we're flexible. And the store has plenty of space to add another table.
As for the new Woodfield, I've been there the last few weeks, and there's usually space there, too. He usually posts as many games on COWS for signups as he knows he can fill, but we've had backup GMs available most weeks in case more people show up who weren't already signed up.

Oops, I meant Dice Dojo.
I think one of the other issues is the location. It’s not that it’s ‘far’ persay, only about 30 miles or so, but it’s in Chicago and therefore a bit more involved going there. Also, coupled with the fact that the games are on a weeknight, and I get up pretty early for work.
As for the new Woodfield location, as I indicated before I am usually pretty busy on Saturdays, but it’s not all that far so I’m willing to give it a try. I will of course attempt to sign up ahead of time if I able, but I know there were a couple of scenarios I wanted to try out in July, and they were filled. Maybe I’ll just head over there if those Saturdays are free.

I miss the old crew. Be sure to remind everyone that Winter War is next weekend, 24-26 January, in Champaign and we still have open seats for players. Pre-registration will close on the 18th, so they should sign up and come on down for a weekend of great fun!
Bob, I will do so. We miss you as well. I wish that I could make Winter War but maybe we can game together another time.
