What are you talking about? Power Boy being in a relationship with another Legion Academy grad was a major storyline last time around. Had NO idea he was gay. Nightwing and Lamprey showed up as well.
That's the very storyline I was referring to. They were graduated from the Academy and sent away by Cosmic Boy, while new recruits replaced them (and were almost immediately promoted to Legion membership, except for, naturally, the gay one, who was also sent away).

Doom was excellent. Punisher and Spiderman were also good.
I really liked when there was a Fantastic Four comic and you could go into a store after months or years and know by the number where in the story you were. Now after numerous reboots, renumberings and name changes even with research it is hard to tell what comics you have missed.
Both companies have decided to start using this model. Smallville Season 11 #20 was numbered Smallville Alien #1. And the next story arc Lantern, starting in issue #24, will also be a #1.
Basically, one company explained that casual readers will pick up a #1, thinking it is a good jumping one point, and long time readers will buy anything. So as long as we put up with it and buy it with the stupid numbering system and false sense of jumping on point, they will keep doing it.btw: Jumping on point = jumping off point also. They haven't ever figured that one out. All the curious people who want to read about DCs new war goddess more than offset all us readers of decades who won't read Wonder Woman volume 4.

Give me names again? Because anyone who knows Power Boy knows he wasn't Legion material. It's embarrassing, but I've had my comics in storage for a while- maybe it's time to dig them out...

The latest Legion Academy series ran in Adventure Comics over the last couple years. Glorith, Comet Queen, Chemical Kid, Dragonwing, Gravity Boy and Variable Lad.
Variable Lad dies, Gravity Boy goes off with Power Boy. The others join the Legion.Soon after, the Legion disbands and the LSH is canceled.

I remember Gravity Boy and thought his powers were too similar to Star Boy. IIRC I thought that was why he didn't make it in.

But there's also Krystalin, from the X-Men 2099 (the best X-team nobody ever heard of, with other amazing characters like La Lunatica, Xian Chi Xan and Meanstreak). In addition to being a mutant who generates crystal, she's also daughter of a leader among the New Black Panther party (who are Wakandan-inspired) *and* worships Thor (which is not an uncommon faith in the 2099 Marvel verse). She's not 'dead,' per se, but since the 2099-verse has been pretty handily demolished and is unlikely to ever be seen again, might as well be.
Wow, didn't know there was another "crystal powered" character. Googled her....too bad her costume wasn't as imaginative as Kole's.
