The Void Gazers: A guild for the free study of forbidden magic

Pathfinder Online

Clan Name: The Void Gazers

Premise: A guild dedicated to promoting necromancy, alchemy and other “dark arts and sciences.” The guild exist for the following reasons:

I: For the right to live a life free of halflings.

II: For the right to survive in a world with paladins, clerics and other potential enemies of the unsavory arts. By any means necessary.

III: To live in a world of intellectual and moral freedom where no magical or alchemical experimentation is considered taboo.

IV: To venerate rats, bats and vermin. Rats carry lethal pestilence, bats are misunderstood creatures of the night (And hopefully awesome mounts) and vermin are directly linked with death itself. The guild will promote the use of such animals as companions and such. (Although there will be plenty of room for skilled horsemen too).

Economics: The guild will have members who craft arms, armor and magical items of all sorts. Crafting should be a large part of the guild’s income.

Government: Oligarchy. There will be three or more different leaders who will share power.

Alignment: Roughly chaotic neutral. While some of what goes on behind castle walls will be dark, even “evil” to some, not all students of the dark arts are evil. We also don’t want to wage war for the sake of being evil.

Your character in this guild:

-No halflings.

-No bards. They sing music in battle, but we fight in battle.

-No druids. Their love of nature and opposition to the undead (as well as their dislike of technology and progress) make druids natural enemies of the cause.

-No Monks. We’re not a lawful guild in any sense, and ki energy is viewed as “beneath” the arts of magic and armored/armed fighting.

-No Paladins. Paladins are the genuine enemies of the cause.

Besides these restrictions, any type of character will be allowed. You need not be a necromancy oriented spellcaster, alchemist or other user of dark magic. As long as you support the cause, all types of soldiers, craftsmen and other citizens are welcome. Just don't be squeamish when people attack us and we have to pummel them with skeletons, demons and diseases!

If anyone's interested in the possibility of getting involved, let me know.

Laugh at me! You bully me now but when I have a skeleton/vermin infested battle horde hitting you from the front and a bat riding airforce flanking you from behind, you'll be sorry. Your avitar will fall to the floor and weep.

This guild clearly comes withbenefits.

Just curious why you hate halflings so much. Did you get beat by halfling 5 lvls lower then you or something? (It was chance, not combat!)

A kender stole his girlfriend?

Stolen? No no no, kender don't steal!

Curious what your goals as a company are going to be:
Exploration?
Advancement of dark magic?
PvP?
PvE?
Settlement building?
etc.

The charter had me until the whole " no halfings, no monks " thing ... tsk tsk ... :P

I applaud the vision :)

There was a DDO guild that was halflings only. As well, all characters had to have "Bob" as part of their name. The guild was called "Bob's Mental Midgets".

1 person marked this as a favorite.

The goal with be to settle an area, fortify it, and establish a city state. The state's goal will be to provide a refuge for necromancers, demon oriented summoners, other users of dark magic (and later on) alchemists, trying to establish a good economy based on crafting and masonry while ensuring members' protection.

We will be highly PVP oriented. Threats to our cause, including undead hating paladins, druids and the like will not be allowed entrance to our city, and if they try to enter they will be killed on sight, but only for reasons of self defense.

If PvP is as dynamic and varied as I hope it will be, our soldiers will be devided into a tactical tier system:

I: Swarmlings- Our swarmlings consist of a backbone of necromancers and demon summoners, reinforced by infantry of all kinds. The goal of the swarmling horde is to summon and gather as many bodies as possible for overwhelming shock assaults. Unmounted fighters/barbarians/rangers, etc. Most of our warriors will find their place in the swarm, alongside hordes of summoned skeletons, demons and vermin.

II:Exalted Cavalry- These are our finest mounted martial heroes and antiheroes on horseback. Focus will be on sheer speed and fully armored melee combat brutality.

III: Arial Cavalry- This will consist of men on bat-back, or something similar. Arial cavalrymen will focus on crippling spells and ranged weapon damage, making it an eclectic mix of rangers, spell-casters, and lightly armored bowmen of all sorts.

IV: Infiltrators- The most fiercely devoted stealth characters will work for this group. Infiltrators exist for dual purposes of intelligence/espionage and flanking enemy lines in large battles.

That was mostly a discussion of battle, but economics will be important as well. Crafters and masons of all kinds will be allowed to live in the city, and protected fiercely.

Sounds delicious.

When they let us level up more than one character at a time, I may look into this.

Probably not on the same account, although "alts" (usually specifically trained to attain a specific skills set, such as masonry) are not an uncommon practice.

Actually Ryan has talked about leveling multiple characters on one account before

You will almost certainly be able to train skills on more than one character per account. Doing so almost certainly will not be free.

Thanks for the link, Onishi. That's good to know.

Is there anyone in the PFO community who is man enough to join my ignoble cause?!

Well without officially joining a cause, Pocket Ace mercenaries will hapily assist your cause for a price assuming no conflicts between it and anything else we have active as things get closer to existence. Pocket ace will have no discrimination for good/evil acts or dark arts.

Only concerns are that you aren't taking over or posing an immidiate threat to our lands or our allies, and 2. obviously the most important rule for anyone working with a mercinary, all bills are paid promptly.

Thought you were in the Seven Veils. You guys do mercenary work now?

@DeathMetal4tw I've suggested via forum post one person contact you, sounded like he would, just doesn't post often. I also suggested via PM that another contact you. Again, someone who doesn't post often.

Plenty of time til launch though.

Pocket ace will be a direct ally of Seven Veils, and I may join that one if I can't get my friends over as soon as I get in (most of them aren't on the forums, so I doubt they will get in very early unless I somehow earn a bunch of invites. For the time being veils and pocket ace are seperate entities with intent to work together with many overlapping goals (namely gathering as much information as possible on the world and organizations within). I need to actually get around to opening a thread for it, but most of the information is already listed back when the chartered companies were one shared thread
