Take 20 Knowledge

Rules Questions

Presuming that you have the skill, and are not in combat or otherwise distracted, is it legal to take 20 on knowledge rolls?

Try Again: No. The check represents what you know, and thinking about a topic a second time doesn't let you know something that you never learned in the first place.

Taking 20 assumes constant retries.

No, because you can't retry a Knowledge check.

EDIT: 20 seconds too slow. Under the Take 20 rules, it says: "Taking 20 means you are trying until you get it right, and it assumes that you fail many times before succeeding."

You can only take 20 on a knowledge check with some bard abilities

Some oracles get the ability, too (Lore mystery or Enlightened Philosopher archetype).

I'd probably allow it for knowledge checks made to do research with access to a sufficiently large library, but just for "Do I know this?" checks, definitely not.

Considering library checks take 1d4 hours, I'd probably allow it, too. Assuming an 8 hour/day limit on studying, that check would take a week to accomplish.
