Alkenstar book?

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

Could it possible to get a book about the only city crazy enough and clockwork/steampunk enough to survive in the mana wastes?

Alkenstar has clockwork stuff?

I don't actually think it says that Alkenstar has clockwork stuff. But I believe it could be safe to assume that since they are the "steampunk" setting within Golarion that they would. It does mention somewhere that they have advanced technology and since magic doesn't really work there, clockwork could be a safe assumption.

According to the 3.5 Campaign Setting book it does.

It does indeed. I haven't read the 3.5 one in a while.

Although, the way the new clockwork template was created, clockworks most likely will not work in Alkenstar. Since magic is necessary to the process. I was upset when I saw that!

They'd work. Anti-magic doesn't render constructs inert. It would just make it hard to create them, that's all.

I'd still like a book, no matter the changes. I know the Inner Sea seems to be a very popular place for plot and intruge, but they seem to be letting the southern more countries fall by the wayside. Yes, I'm most interested in an Alkenstar specific book, but over all I'd like to see more non-Inner Sea area products.

Agreed--while *The Guns of Alkenstar* may not be a groundbreaking cop story, it gave me the bug for seeing fantasy in a different way, and it demonstrates that fairly contemporary tropes can be applied to stories in Golarion without losing the integrity of either. And, I think that we can have a lot of fun in Garund without being in the Expanse or the Shackles.

Since the original post (4 years ago but hey, a lot changes in that time!!!) there has been this published: Wardens of the Reborn Forge. It has a gazetteer of Alkenstar - with just enough to inspire a GM - although, sadly and a missed opportunity IMHO, the adventure itself doesn't really use the city in any meaningful way.
