Scarab Sages

The former - I was dead serious about it being my favorite Bogard movie, so I don't consider it lame at all!

Oh, we need a question.
Can you go from Airplane! to Lone Wolf McQuaid in 4 jumps or less?

Scarab Sages

Pathfinder Battles Case Subscriber; Pathfinder Maps, Pathfinder Accessories Subscriber; Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber

Airplane starring Lloyd Bridges
Alice in Wonderland starring Lloyd Bridges & Roddy McDowall
Embryo Starring Roddy McDowall & Barbara Carrera
Lone Wolf McQuade Starring Barbara Carrera

Who is your favorite star that hardly ever got the starring role.

Spoiler:
Mine is Roddy McDowall. Except for the Planet of the Apes movies, he usally played bit parts or second fiddle roles.

Alan Rickman.

Go from John Carter to Match Point in 4 jumps or less?

Nice one, Charles! My solution to the last one:
Airplane! (Kareem Abdul Jabbar)
Game of Death (Kareem and Bruce Lee)
Return of the Dradon (Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris)
Lone Wolf (Chuck Norris).

I admit that I had to look up the cast of John Carter because I haven't seen it.

John Carter--Willem Dafoe--The Life Aquatic--Gwyneth Paltrow--Iron Man 2--Scarlett Johansen--Match Point

Favorite Woody Allen movie?

FAIL!!!

As I lay awake at night, staring at the ceiling, I realize that I have confused my Wes Anderson movies and that Gwyneth was in The Royal Tenenbaums not The Life Aquatic.

Kirth's question is still open.

Hint: Willem Defoe is a great 1st step, because everyone else in "JC" is a nobody!

John Carter = Thomas Haden Church = Wings = Tony Shahoub = The Man Who Wasn't There = Scarlett again = Match Point

Is television cheating?

Also, what's your favorite Woody Allen movie?

Antz!
Favorite voice acting in an animated movie?

Antz?!?

Imho, that was a terrible movie, but I have to admit it's a good answer.

So, I shall answer your question with: What's Up, Tiger Lily?

What's your favorite spy movie that doesn't feature James Bond?

EDIT: Btw, what are you getting your master's in?

Doodlebug Anklebiter wrote:

Tinker, Tailor Soldier Spy with Sneakers (not being a pure spy movie but is at heart about espionge and secrets...) being a close second.

Favorite Gary Oldman movie?

Scarab Sages

Tough one, I would have to chose three - Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are dead, León and The Dark Knight.
Also, my question is still open, but I gladly ask another one:
Favorite Blake Edwards Movie?

P.S. I am not a fan of Woody Allen, but I admit I forgot about the wonderful What's Up, Tiger Lily? as well as I forgot about Casino Royal - While I do like Antz!, these would be my favorites.
I'm working on my master in Educational Science, wit emphasis on social working.

Oops--my bad. What's Up, Tiger Lily?, of course, is not animated.

God is in the details, Doodlebug.

Breakfast at Tiffany's

Who would you rather spend the night with: Katharine Hepburn or Audrey Hepburn? While they were alive, of course.

EDIT: Alternate question for straight women or gay men: which member of the A-Team would you most like to spend the night with?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Funny, I was trying to post this connection yesterday when the Great Paizo.Com Freeze-Out started; couldn't get back onto the site until a few minutes ago. Of course, I couldn't remember which Bruce Lee movie Kareem had been in, and Kareem's imdb page wasn't telling, but I knew it was SOME Bruce Lee movie!

Audrey by a mile.

Favorite military-based comedy?

Soldat Bom. (Starring Nils Poppe, aka Sweden's answer to Charles Chaplin).

Favourite non-Swedish military-based comedy?

Kirth Gersen wrote:
You can do it in 2-3 jumps if TV shows are allowed.

From here on in, I, Doodlebug Anklebiter, declare that TV shows are NOT cheating for playing the Kevin Bacon game.

It's not a comedy, but damn if Full Metal Jacket isn't hilarious--you know, when it isn't heartbreaking.

Favorite Kubrick film that isn't FMJ?

Doodlebug Anklebiter wrote:

Damn! I didn't even recognize THC (heh, cool initials)!

My answer:
John Carter (Willem Defoe)
To Live and Die in LA (Defoe and William Peterson)
Manhunter (Peterson and Brian Cox)
Match Point (Cox).

Another connection: Favorite non-Bond spy movie: Ronin, with, yet again, Brian Cox.

Favorite Kubric movie: The Shining edges out A Clockwork Orange and Barry Lyndon.
Question: Favorite Rodley Scott film that isn't SciFi?

Kajehase wrote:

Kelly's Heroes, obviously! Just to provide an actual, you know, comedy. ;P

Kirth Gersen wrote:

Well, like I said, I had to look up the cast. I don't know whether I would have recognized him either, although, thinking about it, I can hear his voice in my head, so maybe I would have.

Seeing him in robes and bracelets instead of cowboy getup is what threw me.

Was he a voice or a body?

My favorite Kubrick movie is Paths of Glory. Which apparently no one else I know has actually seen...

Favorite Ridley Scott movie that's not Sci-Fi? BLACKHAWK DOWN.

EDIT: As an aside I dont think Brian Cox is IN Ronin...

Ronin does have one of my favorite exchanges in a film ever:

(when Sam seems skeptical of the teams plan of assaulting a travelling and heavily armed target)
Deirdre: You're scared!
Sam: Of course I'm scared! You think I'm reluctant because I'm happy?

Scarab Sages Contributor, RPG Superstar 2008 Top 4, Legendary Games

I call for the question!

ShinHakkaider wrote:

Isn't he the miniatures painter who tells DeNero about the Forty-Seven Ronin? Or was that Michael Lonsdale? Dammit, now I need to go re-watch it.

Edit: IMDB to the rescue. It was Lonsdale! I stand most humbly corrected!

Ice Station Zebra.

Are we limited to theater movies, or can we use TV movies as well?

Dang, Ninja'd.

Favorite Kirk Douglas movie is "The Final Countdown", with "The Villain" at a close second.

Favorite winter movie?

As per usual, I answer with the first movie that comes to mind that I like, as opposed to my actual favorite.

In this case, Stalingrad.

@ShinHakkaider--Yup. It's pretty awesome.

@Charles Scholz--My vote is that you can use tv movies as well.

What's your favorite movie with Nazis?

The Exchange

I actually liked Hellboy for the "Hm..." feel to it. It also was the first to come to mind.

Favorite Clay-animation movie?

Ninja'd again. This just isn't my day.

Favorite claymation movie --- The Year Without a Santa Claus. Love Heat and Cold Miser.

Favorite Santa Claus Movie.

Don't like Santa Claus movies. Bah! Humbug!

To previous questions, I'm compelled to add: favorite clayamtion is Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit, and favorite winter movie is Gorky Park (trailer linked).

Go from The Santa Clause to Conan the Barbarian (original) in 4 jumps or less?

So, there you go. Winter = Russia.

EDIT: Just back from wikipedia. I have never seen that movie, but I would like to thank Kirth for posting the link. I had been trying to remember the Arkady Renko novels on-and-off for the past decade.

Tim Allen (Santa Clause) was in Galaxy Quest with Alan Rickman who was in Die Hard with Bruce Willis who was in The Expendables with Arnold who was Conan.

Was that 4 or 5?

That was 4.

What is your favorite sexytime scene not from a porn? (Don't worry that will be my next question.)

The opening of Betty Blue.

Least favorite Zombie Movie?

Nice one! And, as always, to prove I actually had an answer as well:

Santa Clause (Tim Allen)
1. Joe Somebody (Tim Allen, Jim Belushi)
2. Taking Care of Business (Jim Belushi, Mako)
3. Conan the Barbarian (Mako).

Probably Shaun of the Dead followed by Return of the Living Dead. Despite that though I can never shake the music from the original Dawn of the Dead from my head.

Of course you had the answer. You made your list, then challenged people to do the same.

Charles Scholz wrote:

The point is, it would be easy to come up with some challenge so cockamamie that no one would be able to do it -- e.g., "Go from Kid Auto Races at Venice (a Chaplin Tramp picture from 1914) to Avatar in 2 jumps or less!"

To keep everyone honest, I'm proposing that "degree of separation" jump challenges require the challenger to post a solution, as well as the challengee.

Let the right one in. American version Let me in.

I just didn't really see a need for this.

Favorite child actor past or present?

Dear gods... I actually think I'll have to go with Rupert Grint. All hail the thunderpants!!

Favourite Ingmar Bergman-movie that's not the 7th Seal.
