Sorry all, I have been picking up a lot of work while my manager is away, working packed 12 and 14 hour days.
I'll post as often as I can but it may be spotty until next week.

I'm trying to determine if this fight is worth a few low-level spells and wand charges, one or two well-placed high level spells, or the full-tilt rage machine that is Wild Shape. xD

seems like a hefty group of stout opponents...

F Human Fighter 2/Bard 2 (HP32/32 AC 27 Ft+4 Rf+4 Wl+3 Pcp +7)

I'd love to see the Wild Shape, but it'll probably mean we're picking bits of you up afterwards. Also, be warned, it might make Elinor fancy the socks off you...

After barkskin and with a full health bar, AND the nat boost of Wild Shape I should be okay, as long as I kill faster than I die.
I'll save it, though. We might get into a stickier pickle.

that's ultimately the largest challenge isn't it... how often do you 'hold off' on using a power just in case...only to never have used it? Happens alot with me. Of course, we are surviving, so it wasn't needed....but I didn't get to do that 'cool' thing.

That is like 90% of my problem with alchemists, actually. They have one really cool power. Once.

They get a fair number of bombs a day, especially if you have the int.

Unless you mean the Mutagen, which, yeah, is more limited. Though I'm told by a bunch of people that I play wrong/bad/nofun because we don't all stop and take an hour after each combat to let the alchie mix up a new one.

F Human Fighter 2/Bard 2 (HP32/32 AC 27 Ft+4 Rf+4 Wl+3 Pcp +7)

Having seen an alchemist in action, I think they're a bit over powered. Certainly banned in any of my own games...

I have them banned along with summoners, actually.
If you want to play an alchemist, play a bard, wizard, expert, rogue, or witch with a potion theme. If you want to play a summoner play a Conjurer.
Under extreme circumstances I will admit them but alchemists are a little OP in combat, and more or less useless outside it.

F Human Fighter 2/Bard 2 (HP32/32 AC 27 Ft+4 Rf+4 Wl+3 Pcp +7)

My problem with alchemists isn't that they're overpowered per se (although I think they are) but the fact that their hand grenades bypass spell resistance. Also that they throw hand grenades. I haven't even studied the rules on summoners, (they're the ones with Eidolons?) it all looked too complicated and I suspect that if I did allow them my players would run rings around me with the permuations of the rules. (Three of my players are very skilful rules-readers).

F Human Fighter 2/Bard 2 (HP32/32 AC 27 Ft+4 Rf+4 Wl+3 Pcp +7)

Bryn, maybe we should try the old 'hey ref! look over there!' trick.

I was resistant to both classes and have eventually come around to each -- but you *do* have to be very careful with the eidolon to avoid it being a cheese factory (the rules in the APG, once you get used to them, are actually not too bad -- some of the stuff added in other books...well, I'm a little less confident in -- and the Synthesist tops that list for me.)

Alchemists don't bother me all that much -- though my first party with one also had a finesse rogue with gang up, and it's hard to get too grumpy about 7 bombs that do 3d6+4 when the rogue's TWF-ing for d6+1+3d6 all day long.

Did you know you can charge and bull rush and do everything else "in a line" in the same configurations as presented in the line area of effect in the magic chapter of the core?
Your "stupid squares" gave me the impression maybe you weren't aware of this, just making sure.
That always blows a player's mind during a bull rush.

Oh, I do -- and that even those are just samples and any regular pattern (eg - 2 then 3 then 2 then 3) is still a straight line -- and, in fact, I thought I'd built such a line to get within lance range of one of the baddies.

Sorry to spring this on people so late, but...

I just got a call from the nice people who's cottage I'll be renting over the next 2 weeks informing me that the internet connection to the place is currently flaked out.

Originally, I'd not mentionned the upcoming absence because I thought I'd be able to get on once per day (but later, after the country air causes the wife to get all sleepy), but now I'm not so sure what my connectivity will be like.... and it may depend on whether or not there's decent cell service out there.

Anyhow, bottom line: I will not be able to post reliably from Sunday (the 8) until Sunday the 22nd. Again, I apologize for springing this on people, but it's a somewhat unexpected turn of events. Feel free to DMPC Taedric -- he'll likely stay at reach with the Lucerne Hammer from here on in, though he'd also probably try to run through some of the fleeing ones once the danger is passed. (Racial hatred, plus being from Umok, and them being *goblins*)

It is the time of year for vacations.
I will likewise be spending some time away from reliable internet down in garner state park. I will be away from the 7th through the 15th, and will probably not be online at all in that span of time.
Feel free to DMPC Aidan as well. He hits stuff with rocks (he has the wand of magic stone) and uses summons if we need them.

I'm back and will catch up...but it's origins starting Thursday for me, so no updates Thur next through Sunday next.

Liberty's Edge

LOL Well... I am happy to DMPC characters but I already seem to have Seneca, and adding Taedric and Aidan and Bryndyn leaves me a little overwhelmed. Can any of the remaining players take one or should he take a break until yikes... the 22nd?

Dark Archive

K'uhulajaw, Init +5, AC20/13/17, Hits 24/24, Perception -1

I'd prefer to take a break because I cannot cover one of the others and this could be a dangerous fight for all. A mistake because we don't know their abilities fully could be a shame.

Your call, Sigil but I am stacked at the mo.

Cheers
