Elemental Bloodline + Eldritch Heritage

Rules Questions

Elemental Bloodline: Elemental Movement (Su): At 15th level, you gain a special movement type or bonus. This ability is based on your chosen element, as indicated on Table: Elemental Bloodline Energy Types and Movement.
Table: Elemental Bloodline Energy Types and Movement
Element Energy Type Elemental Movement
Air Electricity Fly 60 feet (average)
Earth Acid Burrow 30 feet
Fire Fire +30 feet base speed
Water Cold Swim 60 feet

Efreeti Bloodline: Elemental Movement (Su): At 15th level, your base speed increases by +30 feet.

Marid Bloodline: Elemental Movement (Su): At 15th level, you gain a swim speed of 60 feet.

Djinn Bloodline: Elemental Movement (Su): At 15th level, you gain a fly speed of 60 feet with average maneuverability.

Shaitan Bloodline: Elemental Movement (Su): At 15th level, you gain a burrow speed of 30 feet.

Do these stack if they're the same element/bonus? I can see how they wouldn't, but I can't seem to find or recall anything saying they would or wouldn't.... Originally the thread was about Elemental (fire) + Efreeti... It's the same ability name, but unnamed bonus types to base speed....

Edit: Found out that each of the genies had "elemental movement" the same as elemental for their level. Figured I'd edit the topic (name and first post) to ask as a whole.

And since finding that info, would different elements stack? And since the question is on my mind, can you Eldritch Heritage a second Elemental Bloodline, but of a different element?

I assume same elements don't stack, but with that kind of investment as a DM I'd be prone to allow it. It costs 3 or 4 redundant feats. Sure you can fly 120.

SO for this adventure we'll be underground... ;-)

I think a different element would work just fine and be an interesting flavor.

The Fire abilities would stack, effectively getting you to 90' land speed as a human. But two sources of burrow 30' just overlap b/c they don't bear a clause to let them increase. Also always remember that "base speed" is the equivalent of "land speed" so you couldn't stack Marid & Fire to gain a swim of 60'.

You cannot select a different element and take Elemental Bloodline stuff with Eldritch Heritage, as the type of Elemental bloodline you have has already been chosen and you'd be doubling up on class features you already had. Plus, the Genie Bloodlines kind make up for this.

How is the fly speed not strictly better than the other movement powers, except for the burrow feature?

Can't you "fly" through water at your fly speed? As far as I know there are no rules for "drag."

And as regards the 30' added move, most people move at 30,' for a grand total of 60.'

Couldn't you just fly and duplicate the same thing? Particularly since if fly is your thing you will probably have enough ranks to do everything perfectly in most cases. In the other cases other people should be having problems as well.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

They are untyped, so the fire abilities stack. The rest don't, since they don't increase, they only apply.

Flying through water is called 'swimming', so you need a swim speed. As to rules to back this up, I point you to the rule of dead and taking actions. There is no specific rule that says dead creatures can't act. Similarly there's no rule that says you can't fly through solid earth or water. If you need that rule, you should probably play a different game.

On a somewhat related topic, does the 16 level Elemental Bloodline power give you a move speed of whichever tip? Does the Air Elemental Bloodline grant you a Fly speed of 60' at 15th level? I don't see a limit on duration so I think it might, bit I might be missing something.. Any thoughts? Thanks.
