Jason and I enjoyed an informative chat on the fifth episode of the Iron GM podcast.

Find it here: LINK

You can also subscribe to us on iTunes.

Although our show pushes our Iron GM tournament, a nationally touring show that tests GMing skill and rewards our winners with big prizes, the occasional wad o’ cash, and free trips to Gen Con, we always have a GM luminary grace us with their perspective on game mastery.

Past guests: Chris Perkins, Monte Cook, Bruce Cordell, Pete Adkison, and now… the titan of smitin’... the king of +5 bling... the viscount of body count… Jaaaaaaa-son Bulllllll-mahn!

We just switched over to a new site template so a couple of links are temporarily missing, but you can still access almost everything. Please, check out the latest show and give us your impressions.

Cool! I'm amazed you were able to get the interview down to 22 minutes. :)

I'm really looking forward to listening to this, and I've downloaded it to my queue.

Thanks, taig!

The show was just submitted to iTunes, and the upload still seems to be processing. But for now, everyone can find the episode at our website.

That's quite teh awesome roster of guests! Adding to playlist... Now.

Well done BONZAI Demons!

Tons of great advice for the GM in this one - really enjoyable hearing Bullmahn talk about what makes a great game.

I just like listening to the ever-delightful Rone and Lou.

Iron GM rocks.

Listened to it and liked it but it wasn't about "game mastery" it was more about "game mastering", specifically Jason Bulmans game mastering preferences and anecdotes.

An interview about game mastery would have been about players learning the minutiae of the rules so as to use those rules and minutiae in a beneficial and not commonly known way. I'm sure Jason could talk extensively about this (since he did write the PF RPG) but in this interview he does not.

Always willing to listen to a Rone/Lou production. I hope to see IronGM in action later this month at TotalCon. \M/O.O\M/

Is there a download link on the web page? I can't seem to find it.

Many thanks for the listens and for all of the feedback, folks. Keep it coming.

Dale, the episode can be downloaded from iTunes for now.

I found a download option (that doesn't seem to work just yet... good looking out) on the Iron GM site by going to the podcastery page, then to the top box featuring episode 5, and then to "download" written in a tiny font. But when I hit it I just go to a white page. Lou programmed the site so I'll pass this on. Thanks!

cool.

FINALLY!

Now I can listen to it conveniently.

I have 283 squares on the tiles on my kitchen floor. How many do you have?

Jeeze! Three of my favorite people chit-chatting on a podcast when I'm REALLY busy!?

Oh, 22 minutes?

Break time!

Well, if we're going to get all technical, rules mastery, like mastering GMing, or tactical mastery, etc, are all facets of game mastery. So I'll just snatch those Hermes Conrad laurels to wear while I listen to what will undoubtedly be an awesome episode on at least one facet, if not more, of game mastery.

We're registering lots of downloads and site listens thus far. Thanks all!

This was a fun interview. Im glad I got a chance to share some of my rambling thoughts with all of you.

I have enjoyed my first listen. Some say that rambling thoughts are the most interesting of all...

Hey everyone - thanks for all the great feedback. It's very encouraging, and I'm glad the interview entertained. It's easy when you've got guys like Jason on the mic.

Just want to let you know the download link on the podcastery page works. You just click the link and Save As. For a Mac that's control-click. For a PC, right-click.

If you just click download (not a Save As click) it opens in another window and starts playing. Rone's blank page would have become a player after a bit.

@Jason - sorry I missed out cross examining you, my friend, but I did contribute to some of the questions, so at least you were partially cross x'ed by proxy. :) Next time!

A guy who follows our company on Twitter listened to the Bulmahn interview and Tweeted that it changed his attitude about Pathfinder.

You are welcome for the good work we do here on the Iron GM Podcast.

Late breaking Facebook news! Jason Bulmahn loathes coconuts and pities those lowly enough to ingest them!

Dave Gross loves them and wonders at Jason's good sense.

FIGHT!

My mom, the second greatest mom of all time, also loathed coconuts. Perfection is pretty limited.

I would discourage Dave from fighting Jason, generally speaking. What kind of fight are we talking about, here?

I can't tell—does that mean Bulmahn made or failed his diplomacy roll? (Or was it performance?) What was your friend's starting attitude, and how many steps was he swayed towards helpful or towards hostile?

<G> Towards helpful, I assure you.

I don't actually know the man personally. He follows IronGM on Twitter. He initially tweeted:

Listened to the @IronGM podcast with @jasonbulmahn. Changed my attitude about PF.

I asked him to elaborate... to wit he wrote:

@IronGM @jasonbulmahn -- -- PF is so rules heavy. (cont'd)

@IronGM @jasonbulmahn -- The guy that wrote the PF book talking about not knowing the rules but where to find the rules quickly -reassuring

I guess there was a certain unexpected downside to launching with a rulebook so dense it has drew in its own moons? ;)

Bolivian Alpaca Butter Fight, of course!

Drew? Drawn?

I'm unfamiliar with this manner of combat. A Barton original? When were you in Bolivia?

Mairkurion, it came from an unpublished satirical self-help book a co-writer and I penned when I was 20 called "The Ten Day Orgasm: A Guide to Better and Longer Living"

Bolivian Butter Fighting was just one line out of thousands, but I recalled it last night. The book follows three scientists, fated to discover and encounter absurd, harrowing adventures while trying to distill the sum of the knowledge into a single self help book.

It includes (but is not limited to) precise, batty instructions for how to achieve a forty hour work week orgasm with the Hunny Bunny plushie groin attachment (for when you don't have the time off to step into the fun-house that is the ten day orgasm), lots of strange sexual advice (The positives and negatives of achieving climax at a funeral, for instance), and a technique for living forever by stomaching a daily intake os aged okra (which in the book's reality is an illegal substance)... along with the history of the scientists and some of their adventures Like their epic search for the Cryxxion, the world's first sexual fetish, leading them through Anatolia, Hong Kong and beyond! Yes, there is a battle with deadly hooded monks who seek to protect this artifact with their very lives.

Man, I should dig that thing up. One publisher admitted it was unique and funny, but that she couldn't figure out how she'd possibly sell it. My pimp once said the same thing about me. Oh how I miss Darius...

Rumor has it the next Pathfinder adventure path will be a close adaptation of the story above.

Wait 'til you see the salacious monsters they have in store.

Ohhh thank goodness. Some of us are not Mac-friendly and prefer to use things like Google Reader to stay current on our feeds.

*cough*

Um, well, yes what Taig said! =D

Many hundreds of listens thus far and the downloads keep coming... and we're presently included in the New and Noteworthy category for Other Games on iTunes. So that's kinda neat. :)

I'd say you guys rock, but that's not hard enough. You guys neutron star! <--Too much? It felt a bit much.
