Convention Boons

Though I am afraid I am about to dip my toe watery quagmire I have some questions about Boons from Conventions.

Some of the Boons don't seem to mention that only one of them can be added to a Character and I am wondering if that was intended?

As an example I have 5 free vanity Boons and there is nothing on the boons from stopping me from adding all 5 to 1 PC, or another example I have 3 Trained eye Boons (+2 [un-typed] Bonus to perception), same thing I can add those 3 to one character and get a +6 to my perception.

Is this a non-issue?

or

Something not intended?

The same rules apply. You may only have one of a particular Chronicle on any character at any given time. For instance, you can't put five sanctioned tales Chronicles on one character, you can't put five GM credit Chronicles on one character, and you can't put multiple of the same convention Chronicle on one character.

This is a non-issue.

Thanks Mike.

Sorry, Mike. I didn't think that was obvious at all.

I have several more "Free Vanity" boons than PCs, so I've assigned more than one to a character, not thinking there was anything wrong with a PC getting both an adamantine wayfinder and membership in a thieves' guild.

I'll fix this for my own PCs, and I'll be on the lookout for this kind of abuse from players at my tables.

Thanks. We will clear this up in the FAQ.

Am I reading this wrong? Are you saying that if I have GM credit Chronicles from more then one adventure each one must be applied to a different character?

Edit (after a reread or three)
Considering the thread, I am thinking you thought, "GM Boon Chronicles" and typed, "GM credit Chronicles".

And by "abuse", I mean to say, "error".

I'm saying if you GM #2-01 five times, you can't receive GM credit five times (only once) and you certainly couldnt apply it all five times to the same character (if it was legal).

Since you can only receive one GM credit for each scenario, as long as the character doesn't have a played Chronicle from the same scenario, then you can apply the GM credit to that character.

You are not restricted in where you apply GM credits as long as the character does not have two of the same Chronicle. So, for example, if you judge 12 different season 3 scenarios, you may apply all 12 to the same character as long as that character has not received any of the 12 from playing the scenario.

oh... "you can't put five sanctioned tales Chronicles on one character, "
can I put different PF Tales Chronicles on the same character? for example a "Prince of Wolves" Chronicle and a "Death's Heretic" Chronicle on the same PC?
Cause I just did this, so I'll need to fix it if I was (mistakenly) cheating.

Yes, you can assign multiple different Tales Chronicles to the same character. So one character could have six Chronicles, one from each Pathfinder Tales, assigned to him. What you can't do is assign two Prince of Wolves Chronicles or two Deaths Heretic Chronicles or ultiple copies from one Tales to the same character.

OK then we are good to go. That is exactly how we do it. It is still a little muddy for the OP's question.

Clear part: You have three Free Vanity Chronicles. You may not pick the same vanity three times and apply them all to a single character.

Muddy Part: You have three Free Vanity Chronicles. Can you put them all on the same character if you choose a different vanity for each one?

The difference: Is it "GM Boon Free Vanity" that determines what kind of Chronicle it is, or the Vanity picked? Or is it GM Boon and Player Boon as two big lumps? Once you take the "GM Boon-Tiefling" you may not apply the "GM Boon-Free Vanity" as you already have applied a GM Boon to that character.

It makes a difference with the new Holiday Boons. The way we have been playing it, each player (not character) may have one holiday boon per holiday. A character may have more then one holiday boon, as long as all boons are from different holidays.

This isn't about convention boons, but it is about pathfinder tales chronicles and their possible abuse. I met a guy a couple of weeks ago who was of the opinion that when you assigned a tales chronicle to a pc, the pc received everything on that chronicle for free. So, take, for example, the gem of seeing on the death's heretic chronicle. He believed that he received that gem for free. So, if he chose to assign the death's heretic chronicle to his first level character, he believed that first level character got a 75000 gp magic item without having to pay for it (and could then turn around and sell it for 37500 gp). I tried to tell him that, like any other chronicle, it only gave him access to buy the items, not the item for free. But he clearly didn't believe me and I wonder if others are mistaken in the same fashion. As much as it pains me to say, since I think this is patently obvious, maybe there needs to be an explicit statement in the guide or FAQ that this only grants access and not the item itself?

That is spelled out on page 17 of the guide. Bold is mine.

Like any other Chronicle, the boons grant you access only to an item, unless the boon specifically says you get the item for free. But if it is listed with a cost, you have to pay for it.

Even if this player doesn't agree with this "opinion", his first character audit will straighten things out.
