That File could not be downloaded

Sovereign Court

hello,

For the last two days, every time I try to download anything, I get this message.

Does anybody know why ?

I am using IE with Windows 7

It could be caused by your unzip utility. The default Windows utility sometimes just doesn't like us. This is from the "My Downloads" page:

Quote:
Note: The default Windows unzipper sometimes tries very hard to "protect" you from PDF files by not unzipping them (and not even telling you they exist). If you don't see any PDF files after unzipping, using a different unzipping utility will solve the problem.

If this persists, would you mind posting a screenshot of what is happening on your end?

I'm inclined to say it's a virus, personally. Many viruses prevent you from downloading things.

I think it could be too.

Though strangely, I can download free downloads, but it blocks everything that goes through the personalizer.

It just displays the orange download strip of win7 and says : "this file could not be downloaded" and that's it.

I also noticed my firewall and anti virus had deactivated themselves for no reason.

Yup, red flags of a virus

If you have access to another computer and a flash drive/usb drive I would download malware bytes or a similar cleaner and use the USB to clean install it. *NOTE* if you do this make sure you run the cleaner on the USB drive as well - many of these viruses like to jump to different machines through the USB drives

I do not have another computer at hand, so I downloaded it, it self updated, and it found nothing.

Weird.

Update for my fans ! yay !

Downloading works now just fine after switching to Google Chrome. Apparently, some other IE9 users have suffered the same, and the solution is to reinstall. yet I can't reinstall IE9 ... as my version is "more recent" than the one of the Microsoft site (?)

In any events, it works for now. I'll check in a while to see if updating IE9 works again. i still do not rule out the virus, but if anybody has an idea, you're welcome.

Kind thanks to all those who answered.
