Ponies and Pies.
I have watched some episodes, and all ponies, including Earth Ponies, have mage hand zero range, at the end of their hooves. That's the only way Pinky Pie could bake cupcakes. Like the Powerpuff Girls, they have no fingers. Do they have helper monkeys off screen cracking eggs and measuring flour?

I generally assume that ponies are simply strangely agile. Hence them only getting a penalty, instead of a flat-out "yeano". You can explain it fluff-wise however you like. :P

Did you come here from the Mechwarrior Online forums? They were just talking about this very thing a couple of days ago. :p

I got reminded of the project by listening to some podcasts, actually.

Good luck. Please try to not shaft the earth ponies.

I laughed. And laughed.

Yo... I am not mocking ANYBODY... but can somebody please explain what the appeal is to so many guys? I mean... "Brony" is an accepted terminology now.

Am I missing something? These ARE my little ponies, right?

Again, not judging... just UTTERLY PERPLEXED.

Pinkie Pie?

She's an actual character on the show.
Watch an episode on U-tube and try not to LOL.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

The appeal is very simple. Friendship is Magic was invented by Lauren Faust, creator of two shows with similar fringe audiences (Powerpuff Girls and one other). The aim was to make a show parents could watch alongside their children.

The animation is pleasant, the comedy is hilarious, the characters aren't at all two-dimensional, plots are often interesting and even surprise us sometimes, the music is great (it's a musical show, ain't that awesome?), and on top of that it's all completely adorable.

Not everybody likes it. You have to be able to put up with a certain level of saccharine, and of course the names are kind of ridiculous. But try watching Lesson Zero, or Putting Your Hoof Down, or Party of One. You may be surprised.

Thanks KC... I don't know when I'll cross paths with it, but that explains a lot.

I always thought PPG had a more sophisticated dimension, and if it's the same people -- that makes a whole lot of sense.

I was starting to think reality was slipping away from me.

If your conversion works out well enough to become an MMO, I submit it should be named "EverQuestrians"

There's already an MLP MMO in the works. Two, if memory serves. I'm too lazy to find the links, though.

I look forward to it setting hoof in Facebook. :)

Did you make these? Ponyfinder

Because the racial stat text is almost verbatim to what you posted...

Nope. Project was inspired by them. I became a brony because I wanted to balance them out a little, in fact. As-is, earth ponies are grossly underpowered. The game I'm making balances it out a bit.

Note how Derpy picks up eggs when she makes cupcakes only a goblin could love. Poor thing is cursed to fumble everything. I think they keep her around to make rain for the crops. Is Derpy a her?

Derpy is a mare, yes.
Also, are you sure she isn't making muffins? She really loves muffins.

Ok, she was trying to make muffins.

Extra emphasis on trying!
Either she will discover her calling in life, or she will give up and become a janitor like I did. :)

You should probably make a phoenix stat block before working on dragons. Good work by the way.

So any word on a necromancer nitemare?
I really do like this thread. I can't begin to say how cute it is.

I remade the races using the Advanced Race Guide's race creation rules.

Unicorn Racial Traits
+2 Int +2 Wis -2 Str
Fast Speed: Unicorns have a 40 ft. base land speed.
Unicorn Magic: Unicorns are able to take Arcane Spell Feats. In addition, unicorns get 3 bonus Cantrips, and one bonus Minor spell at first level.
Natural Attacks: Unicorns possess a natural gore attack that inflicts 1d6 points of damage on a hit. This is a secondary attack. As ponies, unicorns also possess a natural slam attack that inflicts 1d4 points of damage on a hit. This is a primary attack, or a secondary attack if the unicorn wields a weapon.
Non-Dextrous: Unicorns can only grasp (mouth) one item at a time. They can use one-handed and light weapons, but suffer a -2 penalty while doing so. Unicorns also suffer a -5 penalty to all checks needing fingers due to the low dexterity of their hooves.
Cutie Mark: Like all ponies, unicorns can gain cutie marks.
Languages: Unicorns begin play speaking Equestrian. Unicorns with high Intelligence scores can choose any language as a bonus language (except secret languages, like Druidic).
Spell-Like Ability: Unicorns get the spell telekinesis 3 times a day as a spell-like ability.

Pegasus Racial Traits
+2 Dex +2 Cha -2 Con
Medium: Pegasi are Medium creatures and have no bonuses or penalties due to their size.
Fast Speed: Pegasi have a base speed of 40 feet.
Flight: Pegasi have a fly speed of 60 feet (good).
Non-Dextrous: Pegasi can only grasp (mouth) one item at a time. They can use one-handed and light weapons, but suffer a -2 penalty while doing so. Pegasi also suffer a -5 penalty to all checks needing fingers due to the low dexterity of their hooves.

Weather Control: A pegasus can control clouds by touch, causing them to move, rain, snow or even release a bolt of lightning as she wills. The pegasus must make a ranged touch attack against the target. If the bolt hits, it deals 1d3 bolts of electricity damage. A pegasus can only create lightning once per day. Clouds are solid to pegasi.
Cutie Mark: Like all ponies, pegasi can gain cutie marks.
Languages: Pegasi begin play speaking Equestrian. Pegasi with high Intelligence scores can choose any language as a bonus language (except secret languages, like Druidic).

I'm not sure the ARG fits all that well with the MLP RPG, since it's designed for a different system. ^_^

Here's an idea for the game name: Dungeons and Banishments. ;D

PonyHammer: A big hammer mechanism attached to a saddle.
Only used to deal with nasty things like Wyverns.
Unicorns can load it, but only Earth Ponies can carry it into battle.
Applejack's big brother could bite down on the trigger bit, then the head of the hammer swings up from behind him and flattens whatever is 2 feet in front of him.

Maybe you should include the cutie mark critical in the game.

Please ignore the last line of the ARG unicorn race I made, because I kind of messed up a little

I think I'm crazy enough to try to make it.

It seems easier to make now that the Advance Race book is out and about.

I am trying to make a balanced version of the races. The only thing I see wrong is that no pony can grab things with their front hooves, and that's wrong.

They can, but they're generally a bit awkward with them in the show.

I was wondering if Pinkie's inflatable fingers are dexterous enough for fine manipulation? And if you think so would include finger inflation as a feat?

It's obviously a bard spell.

Pinkie Pie is holding a cupcacake with her forehoof and asks,"Yeah, how does this work?"
Twilight Sparkle gushes,"I think it's subatomic particles called glueons, but I'm still trying to prove they exist."
