I am rolling up a Goblin Gunslinger for a game starting next week!
I must have played too much WOW when I was younger. But for some reason I really want to play it, and Goblin suits gunslinger so well with the Dex bonus.
Another player in my group is having kittens over it! He's convinced that a Goblin PC just wouldn't work in Golarion.
I think it could be fluffed really well, having to stay out of sight in busy towns, disguising myself etc.
I also really like the parallels to playing a race that's discriminated against. Having never had that problem in real life.
What do people think? Am I being stupid? Will I just get lynch mobbed as soon as I rock up into town and my stealth/disguise check fails?

Dude, the Goblin is great for other reasons than just the Dex bonus. We're talking about a class that harnesses small explosions constantly. Goblin wet dream, I tellz ya.
Roleplaying a Goblin in a generally non-monstrous party can be very difficult. The unfortunate fact is that the other player's statement is basically a self-fulfilling prophecy. If he's convinced it won't work, he will probably make it not work.

Yeah..that +8 to stealth is awesome but making it a hard sell to my bf, I'm trying to convince him that Goblin PCs are NOT broken. He is not happy about the fact that I have a +16 to stealth or the fact that its possible to have a +21 stealth at level ONE.
Goblins have the same amount of racial goodies everyone else has, and are balanced by the fact that their net stat gain is ZERO while all the core races have a net gain of +2. Gnomes and halflings have more skill bonuses than goblins, albeit they get +2 to each but...goblins only get ONE skill buff so it makes sense that they get a +4 and...all small creatures get +4 to stealth. So...that makes sense. Goblins dont get bonuses on saving throws and everyone else does. They dont get spell-like abilities or extra feats or skills, they have the problem of being hated or not trusted or liked by anyone so...altho its not in the book, as such...you're gonna have problems where ever you go unless you wear a disguise. It sure doesnt help that they get -2 cha... Everyone will want to run me out of town, so in my opinion that is a huge drawback/ balancing feature.

Like -2 to Cha has them running the dwarf out of town? Yeah, right.
Goblins are amazing in ANY class if you snag a trait that adds stealth (except oracle paladin, and non-empyrial/sage sorcerers). Dex to damage at level 5 with touch attacks...? You're hitting a flat AC of 10 every time you stealth, except sizeand deflect mods. I THINK the new races guide gives goblins the same sniping bonus as halflings. If so its pure brokenness.
...which is why its one of the badguys I will be throwing at my PCs.

One of the reasons I gave Goblins +2 Handle Animal, Escape Artist, Ride and Stealth, instead of the +4 for Stealth (and Riding Wolfs?).
It defuses a potential break and gives them a few more fascets to work with.
OH! And I believe the "Craven" Halfling racial trait (from the APG) should be standard for all Goblins!

But seriously. A CG and LE in the same party?
Do you have EVER made good experience with such kind of combination?
Don't get me wrong, a group of all the same alignment is boring (LG + CG, is only slightly better but still...), but A group with OPPOSITE alignments?
As a GM I probably wouldn't allow that.
Besides, how the hell did a goblin end up being chaotic GOOD?
