Sorcerer with wildblooded sylvan

Rules Questions

I'm having a hard time telling my friend that it shouldn't be possible for a level 1 sorcerer with sylvan bloodline to take a lion as his companion sounds redundant if anything, but If I'm wrong please tell me that the lion doesn't start with the as shown on the animal companion list of pfsrd

Thanks in advance and happy newyears for those who dont visit this thread second time :)

You are wrong, your friend is right. If you still choose to disallow this choice, do not let ANY of your other players to take anything that is not in the Core Rulebook.

I can barely understand the question, but a Lion is one of the options a Sorcerer with the Sylvan wildbloodline can take. "Cat, Big" represents a Lion or Tiger or something similar.

I'm not sure where the concern is coming from; the sorcerer has the same entirely reasonable 1st-level animal companion as a starting druid. Please note this is significantly different than the lion stat block in the Bestiary, just in case you're looking at that and thinking it's overpowered for a 1st-level character.

PRD stats for 1st-level sylvan sorcerer's animal companion:

Animal Companion stats, effective druid lvl 1

HD 2; BAB +1; Base Saves fort +3, ref +3, will +0; Skills 2; Feats 1; Nat Armor Bonus +0; Str/Dex Bonus +0; Bonus Tricks 1; SA - link, share spells.

Cat, Big (Lion, Tiger)

Starting Statistics: Size Medium; Speed 40 ft.; AC +1 natural armor; Attack bite (1d6), 2 claws (1d4); Ability Scores Str 13, Dex 17, Con 13, Int 2, Wis 15, Cha 10; Special Attacks rake (1d4); Special Qualities low-light vision, scent.
