Can you use Channel Smite with a Wand?

Rules Questions

With a Wand in hand can I make a melee attack roll and use Channel Smite against my target?

Does a Wand do a minimum of 1 damage + strength bonus?

Wand Physical Description:

Wands
...
Physical Description: A wand is 6 to 12 inches long, 1/4 inch thick, and weighs no more than 1 ounce. Most wands are wood, but some are bone, metal, or even crystal. A typical wand has Armor Class 7, 5 hit points, hardness 5, and a break DC of 16.

Channel Smite:

Channel Smite

You can channel your divine energy through a melee weapon you wield.

Prerequisite: Channel energy class feature.

Benefit: Before you make a melee attack roll, you can choose to spend one use of your channel energy ability as a swift action. If you channel positive energy and you hit an undead creature, that creature takes an amount of additional damage equal to the damage dealt by your channel positive energy ability. If you channel negative energy and you hit a living creature, that creature takes an amount of additional damage equal to the damage dealt by your channel negative energy ability. Your target can make a Will save, as normal, to halve this additional damage. If your attack misses, the channel energy ability is still expended with no effect.

I would let do it but no STR bonus since you are attacking touch AC.

Channel Smite is worded so it works on any melee attack roll (including melee touch attack rolls)

Depends: Do you want to hit somebody over the wand - then I would guess you use the improvised weapons rule. If you use the wand to cast a spell you won't get any Str bonus, just the spell.

if you attack with a wand using channel smite you would first be attacking with an improvised weapon and take the needed penelty to attack. As well you would still do strength damage as it follows standard attack rules. You would not be able to cast a spell from a wand while attacking if you use a magic device that is different from attacking.

The wording of Saerdna's statment is a little misleading. it suggest that you could use the wand to cast a spell and channel smite with the wand which is incorrect channel smite works with attacks only.

Rules written you could do it but more work than its worth.
