A recurring error with CMB and Tiny creatures (who use Dex instead of Str)

1 person marked this as FAQ candidate.

I previously reported this about Imps, and now I've seen it with the Carrion Crown part 1 bestiary beheadeds and animated manacles.

I think this is one of those rules that's regularly escaping notice.

Where is that rule?

I believe nowhere. It's a hold over from 3.5 that is not used in every stat block consistantly

Core Rulebook (first printing) page 198, last paragraph, first sentence:

The Rules wrote:
Creatures that are size Tiny or smaller use their Dexterity modifier in place of their Strength modifier to determine their CMB.

EDIT: Ninja'd. Guess I took to long to look up the actual reference.

I was lazy and just searched "tiny" on d20pfsrd. Didn't even bother hotlinking it.

At least I wasn't as lazy as the two posters above me who couldn't even do that.

Thank you.
