This week? Is it this week already!?!?
<reaches into the grab bag and pulls out a handful of GMs>
Well look at that ...
This week we have the following:
FRIDAY JANUARY 3, 2014
12:30pm - 4:30pm
The Beggar's Pearl - This season 1 classic is a great scenario for PCs level 1-7. Find the lost dwarven gallery and the current inhabitants, a bunch of fey cultists ... yes, you heard me, fey cultists.
5:30pm-9:30pm
The Stolen Heir - If I could actually get to the WT by 5:30pm (and was not already planning a home game session), I would be in on this one. This season 5 scenario is for PCs levels 1-5. The Society, strapped for cash for it's Worldwound investigations, seeks to save the missing daughter of a wealthy local. Did I mention the Worldwound? It's season 5 so don't expect a cakewalk ...
SATURDAY JANUARY 4, 2014
12:30pm-4:30pm
The Prince of Augustana - A season 0 scenario for PCs level 1-5. The PCs follow up the ravings of a crazy, old man claiming to be the true Emperor of Andoran, entering the sewers of Augustana in search of portals and demons. Will there be demonic foes, or is the old man just a crazy old loon?
Wonders in the Weave, Part 1: The Dog Pharaoh's Tomb - This season 3 scenario for PCs level 5-9 has the PCs explore an Osirion ruin in a demiplane. Nope, nothing suspicious about that ...
Quest for Perfection, Part 3: Defenders of Nesting Swallow - This season 3 scenario for PCs level 1-5 is the final installment in the Quest for Perfection series. Think the Seven Samurai but with Tengu bandits. Yeah, that's the stuff. :)
5:30pm-9:30pm
Shadow's Last Stand, Part 1: At Shadow's Door - This season 2 scenario is the first in a two part series for PCs level 1-7. Shadow Lodge goodness, when the Shadow Lodge was still considered "the bad guys" ...
Temple of Empyreal Enlightenment - A season 3 scenario for PC levels 1-5. An abandoned aasimar temple to a benevolent Empyreal Lord ... nope, no way anything could go wrong with this one.
My Enemy's Enemy - This season 3 scenario is for PCs level 3-7. Set in Magnimar, it looks like the Society is being set up to take the fall for a series of crimes. Bonus points if you get the GM to use the line "And I would have gotten away with it to, if it hadn't been for those meddling Pathfinders."
The Stolen Heir - A season 5 sc ... have you ever had that feeling of deja vu? Oh yeah, just like above, but swap out "If I wasn't already running a table" for "If I could actually get to the WT by 5:30pm (and was not already planning a home game session)". ;)
The Traitor's Lodge - Another season 5 scenario ... and a load of fun. It had the table I was at a bit worried at times ... you'll see what I am talking about. ;)
And there you have it. Sign up, as usual, on our Warhorn page

You had me worried there, Dain. You left out "Traitor's Lodge" in the evening slot, and I thought maybe it had been cancelled. But no, it's still up on Warhorn (but waitlisted).
Don't worry, I'm looking forward to running "Traitor's Lodge." Bring your A-Game, it's going to be a good one! See you there.

Well I knew that Del lol. Question about Fame, Del. I saw the thread you were part of and I am a little thrown on it still. I have 24 Fame. At 22 you can purchase items of up to 8000GP and then at 27 at something around 11,000GP. Is there an in-between or does that mean I cannot spend over 8000GP on an item until Fame 27?

It would be nice if they broke Fame down even more to allow for more buying power towards items. Having to wait at the least three scenarios or more kind of stinks.
Part of it is to have something else to look forward to. There are some characters where you don't get much when you finish a scenario. For example, the first scenario after a level up is usually exciting, as is the last scenario before a level up, because you get to level up! But the middle chronicle sheet is often just more cash.
Fame limits not only preserves balance, but also gives another "carrot" for that next scenario (AND rewards playing more carefully and trying to get those secondary success conditions!)

Its a hardline. It would be simple to dice it up point by point but that's not how its done.

Does anyone know the ruling for missing an arm. In the Skull and Shackles Player's Guide it states a -1 to Strength and cannot use two-handed weapons. Under the additional resources for PFS the Player's Guide is not listed but everything in Skull and Shackles is acceptable for play. Any ruling on what happens? Is it a -1 or is it just a RP opportunity?
Luthril |
Ding BTW ;)
Scott,
I'd rule if your character only has one arm he can't use a 2handed weapon.... that being said I've never heard of a tactic in PFS where an enemy can or would take your arm, so you shouldn't be in that situation with a PFS character... now homebrew is different, but there should be any crossover. PFS generally will let you enforce penalties like age or a handicap on your own character, but you do not get any bonuses(like the increase in mental stats for age)... So if you want to "hurt" your character you can, but I wouldn't recommend it.

I have a pirate character with one arm, one leg and one eye. He is walking testimony to what happens to a pirate when he has a wife in each port and they suddenly all meet up. It didn't end well for Capt. Sholto, but he doesn't harbor any ill will.
Anyways the rules you seek are for the most part covered under Pirates of the Inner Sea.

Thank you Del. I have created Grip IronStance the one armed Dwarven Monk of the Sacred Mountain. :-) Bad childhood and all. I am excited about getting to play him at Scarab.
On another note: I have one character that was with the Shadow Lodge. It has been a very long time since I have played a PFS game. I know Shadow Lodge went away. Do I just pick a different faction or are there penalties? Thanks

Without giving any spoilers. If you missed the scenario Rivalry's End then that answer is covered in the Guide under Changing Your Faction.

Hey! That's my line!!!
But I am glad you asked. This week is going to be a quiet week, with the vast majority of the Asheville Lodge's most dedicated players and characters making a cameo at the most excellent South Carolina Area Roleplayers And Boardgamers annual convention, known as SCARAB! This event is always a blast, and Del Collins and company really pull out all the stops.
But hey, while the Venture Captain's away the Pathfinders will play- and here's what the Pathfinders will play:
FRIDAY, January 17th
5:30PM - 9:30PM
Shades of Ice Part III: Keep of the Hurlscarl King- A Season 2 scenario for level 1 thru 5,iIt's a mouthful of a title and heck of a fun game, following the Pathfinders through Irrisen and all the way to the Realm of the Mammoth Lord, in a race with the Shadow Lodge for a powerful artifact weapon to turn the tide in this shadow-conflict.
SATURDAY, January 18th
12:30-4:30 PM
The Hydra's Fang Incident - An oldie but goldie Season 0, for level 1 thru 5. After a rogue Chelish slave ship razes a few towns along the Andoran Coast, it's up to the Pathfinders to defuse a potential political powderkeg before it goes off and takes the Inner Sea with it!
The Dalsine Affair - A fun but lethal Season 2 scenario for level 1-7, which places the pathfinder in the middle of a web of age-old religious and political conflict at the heart of the Taldane Empire, in Oparra. There they'll work to untangle the implications of the Dalsine Family's attacks on Society allies.
5:30-9:30 PM
The Song of the Sea Witch- A season 3 scenario for levels 3-7, in which the Society must undo the work of a hapless researcher who inadvertently unleashed a demonic legion from ancient holy book.
The Confirmation- The Season 5 replacement for the Intro Steps, this Level 1 only scenario follows aspiring Pathfinders as they take their first steps into the great unknown.
As usual, you can sign up on Warhorn at the Asheville Pathfinder Lodge to reserve your seat at the table!
Happy Gaming, Pathfinders!

Hey everyone! Thanks for a wonderful event. I had a great time running for you all, and it was really nice to see so many new faces. 5 full tables when half the lodge is out of town!? Awesomesauce.
Reporting is done, and if there are any problems in the reporting, feel free to let me know. Mark your calendars for February 1st, the next full Grand Lodge day, and we'll see you then!

Yeah, I can't wait to move to west Asheville so I don't have to drive an hour each way to get my Pathfinder fix (I'm currently living in Sylva.) Then I can make every PFS session at TWT and go to some of these conventions that I'm missing out on. Pathfinder seems to be drawing in more and more people, even in just the small amount of time I've been playing.
And a big thank you to all the GMs, I'm taking lots of notes so I won't make too many screw-ups when I try GMing one o' these days....

I hope everybody had fun at SCARAB! I also hope you got some characters leveled up into the 10-11 range. I'd like to get some tables at the future APL game days set aside for the 10-11 subtier, so we can start getting another batch ready for Eyes of the Ten. I'll volunteer to run The Refuge of Time and The Red Harvest. So who's with me?
Purple Fluffy CatBunnyGnome |
I now have a level 10 cleric who can help keep other PCs up and around a bit longer ;)
And yes, it would be good to get a good number of folks ready to run through the EoT arc. If we could work it in to the MACE West Convention, that would be most excellent. ;)
Let me know when you're going to run EoT ... I have a level 12 fighter that I'll burn my replays for to have her run thru it

Is that Cyrus? Because that will let my level 10 cleric focus more on calling the wrath of Torag down upon the enemies of the Society. How do you feel about playing The Refuge of Time in the first slot of Feb. 1?
zylphryx |
@RDN Yep, It's Syrris ... but I won't be present on the 1st too many things scheduled for one day. :(
But I will be there on the 15th. We'll see if we can get a high tier table going for that one ... I know Caedmon was talking about running Red Harvest, so maybe he can run it on the 15th.
@Carlos Soon, my friend, soon. :) David has my number, just be sure to give me a call when y'all get to Hendersoville on I26 when you come up so I can meet y'all at the hotel for check in.

Red Harvest on the 15th works for me, because I've played it and I won't be there.

Just an FYI, if you're not following it, I got into the Top 32 of the RPG Superstar contest again, and the next Lodge game day is a few days before Round 3 starts. If anyone is interested, and if we have a spare table, I'd like to playtest one or two encounters with you guys in the morning slot. Any takers?

A-hem.
What's going on this week?
Well I am glad you asked!
FRIDAY JAN 31, 2014
12:30pm-4:30pm
03-05 The Tide of Twilight - Oh this 3rd season scenario for PCs levels 1-5 brings back memories. Werewolves and evil druids and other stuff, oh my! This was the first scenario that I ran that resulted in a TPK (I swear it was not my fault ... well mostly not my fault). Still a good time had by all and a challenging scenario. And sorry about the TPK Michael, Caedmon, Ban And Kes.
5:00pm-9:30pm
05-01 The Glass River Rescue - a good start to the 5th season ... and it's not even in the Worldwound. No, pack your masks and thank the false god, you get to have fun in Razmiran. Hail Razmir! ;) This is a season 5 scenario for PCs levels 1-5.
Saturday
12:30pm-4:30pm

02-23 Shadow's Last Stand Part 1: At Shadow's Door - This 2ns season scenario for PCs level 1-7 has the Shadow Lodge (when they were the bad guys) taking Pathfinders and a VC hostage. Can you rescue them?
03-01 The Frostfur Captives - A season 3 scenario for PCs levels 1-5 ... with goblins. Yep, you are escorting goblin prisoners. A truly classic scenario.
05-02 The Wardstone Patrol - The first season 5 scenario set in the Worldwound, this is great fun for PCs level 1-5. Go on patrol, get a taste of what the Worldwound has to offer ... just try not to get killed.
5:00pm-9:30pm
01-51 City of Strangers Part 1: The Shadow's Gambit - The Shadow Lodge appears in this Season 1 scenario for PCs level 1-7. Set in Kaer Maga, you must solve a murder. Simple, right?
02-24 The Shadow's Last Stand Part 2, Web of Corruption - Hmmmmm, anyone else seeing a theme for this weekend? The Spider has been revealed as the leader of the Shadow Lodge. Can you discover the Spider's identity? This is a season 2 scenario for PCs levels 1-7.
04-13 Fortress of the Nail - A season 4 scenario for PCs level 5-9. Wrongfully imprisoned ally. Hellknight fortress. Easy peasy. Say hello to the librarian for my cleric, Syrris.
05-11 Library of the Lion - And speaking of libraries ... this season 5 scenario for PCs levels 1-5 has you on a rescue mission. To rescue the past. Well ... books about the past. Unaltered books about the past. Ah, you'll see
