Sandpoint and Iconics PCs

Beginner Box

Last Sunday I ran a PFBB demo at a local convention and I had a great response from my guest players, and they would like to continue adventuring in the town of Sandpoint and learn about the other Iconics.

I have been running Pathfinder games for a while now but never in the Golarion setting, am I thinking of getting The Inner Sea book soon, and I would like to know if it has any information on Sandpoint that I can use as a reference.

Also, I loved the basic background on the four iconics introduced in this set, has there been any work done on a similar 1st level treatment for the other Core book classes’ iconics (bard, barbarian, ranger…)?

Thanks for the assistance! :)

Sandpoint is detailed in volume #1 of Rise of the Runelords and maybe in one of the modules. I don't think you can lay hands on RotRL anymore (at least until the collected edition comes out). The Iconics are detailed variously in the back of the adventure paths (four different ones in each series, generally) and I think some of the modules have them as well. I think there were a set of blog posts with their stats at different levels and backgrounds, but I could be mistaken (and I don't have a link to share with you in any case). If anybody has any specifics I hope they'll post them for you. Good luck!

The best guide to Sandpoint is still found in Pathfinder #1. The book is out of print, buy you can still get the PDF for $14. There is also the Rise of the Runelords Player's Guide, which is a free PDF or $2 for the hard copy. Between those two, you should be all set in that respect!

Duh! Here I am all old skool...of *course* the PDF is available! :) I was only thinking about print versions. Definitely recommend getting the Runelords #1 PDF. Everything you need to know about Sandpoint right there.

Thanks for pointing that out to me, I will take a look at the PDF when I can.

As for the Iconics, do you know in which modules are thier 1st level stats?

On this page, you can download pregenerated stats at levels 1, 4, and 7 for fighter, cleric, rogue, and wizard.

The Iconics all appeared at first level in the first 3 Adventure paths (but with 3.5 stats). Some of them reappeared in later ones too, in different combinations.

Fighter, Sorcerer, Rogue, Cleric - Runelords 1
Wizard, Paladin, Ranger, Bard - Crimson Throne 1
Monk, Druid, Barbarian, soon-to-be-multiclass Fighter(/wizard) - Second Darkness 1

Also, you can find all the backgrounds in Meet the Iconics

Alos: We'll be reprinting the entire Rise of the Runelords Adventure Path (including the Sandpoint info) in hardcover in June. Might be best to get the PDFs now, and supplement it with the hardcover later this summer. Rise of the Runelords would also work as a full-on Adventure Path, but you'll have to transition to the full Pathfinder game to get all the rules that take you to the end.

You might also want to check out the Rise of the Runelords Map Folio, which contains a poster map of Sandpoint.

Erik,

I just bought the map (it was on sale!) and five of the Rise of the Runelords Players Guide ($2 print edition), I will be getting the Burnt Offering PDF and Pathfinder Mini: Rise of the Runelords Bestiary PDF in my next paycheck.

A for the “Meet the Iconics” background, isn’t it high time that Valeros gets a proper write-up (as compared to all the recent write ups)? Seoni (#2) got a lot more love then him! After all, I learned more about him in the pre-gen character sheet that came in the PFBB then I did about him on the blog post. :)

Tamago, thanks for pointing that out. I will get the Burnt Offering PDF and AP Paper Mini Bestiary very soon, I got the ROTRL map on sale, downloaded the mentioned players guide, then went and bought 5 print versions (well worth the money to hand out to player). I should be set, and will look into the full hardback in June (as per Erik’s suggestion).

Did you see this writeup of Valeros further up the Meet the Iconics list? (He got 2 meetings/writeups in the end, for just that reason.)

Also, check out Pathfinder #49 The Brinewall Legacy. It has a good section on the Sandpoint Hinterlands...all the area around Sandpoint. Lots of potential encounters and sidetreks to keep your group busy for quite a while.

That is for two reasons:

First, Seoni has bigger.... attributes.

But second, and much more importantly, Seoni wasn't caught by a Paparazzi being "indiscrete" with the iconic half-orc inquisitor. There's things you just don't do, and way up on the list is half-orc inquisitors.

I am working on creating my own Iconic pre-generated PCs to accompany those found in the PFBB so as to give my current and future players more options. If anyone could assist me please stop by this thread:
