I was just wondering why the mmo format for the game.
It seems to me there is a huge risk that the game will just flat out fail with a free to play mmo. Many, many mmos come and go and no one even knows they ever existed.
I always thought a single player fantasy game would work best.
With the Pathfinder adventure paths, Paizo has huge stock pile of game material for a base game and expansion packs.
I just do not see MMO as the way to go.

Paizo has not been approached with a 'single player fantasy game' pitch that they have accepted. (i am unknowing if they have had serious contenders in this field either, but at this moment in time i suspect not.) A MMO does not exclude the possibility of a 'single player fantasy game' in the future as well, they are different venues.
In effect it was not a "MMO or SPFG" choice, but a "MMO or No" choice.

Ryan pitched an MMO because that's where his interest and experience is. We think his pitch makes a lot of sense, and it answers most of the concerns that Paizo shares with many of you.
Also, note that Goblinworks' license is specifically for an MMO. It in no way rules out the possibility of other game types being developed, and if we receive a reasonable pitch for one, we'll consider it.

Correct.
If someone approaches us with a pitch for a single player game and it sounds cool and we think it's worth it and so on and so on... we'll do it. The stars just have to be right, as they were for "Pathfinder Online."
Frankly, I really REALLY would love to see a single player game set in Golarion. Doesn't even have to be an RPG. Imagine what a game like "Assassin's Creed" would be like set in Golarion? (drools)

For my part, I think there is a great MMO story to be told in Golarion. This is a frontier constantly fought over by warlords. It takes thousands of people to dominate the region, and an MMO will let us put players in the driver's seat.
It's going to be fantastic.
I have to admit, I came for the PRPG, but stayed for Golarion. Whatever kind of game, I'm just excited to be able to play out my stories in the world that I've come to know and love.
If I get to do that in the future with different styles of games, more the better.
