No rush, this battle will take a few more days in RL time... :)
?!?
;)
Anton Green |
Unrelatedly, I'm thinking of reformatting Anton's profile to look more like how I did Dasiji Lekaya's. Which would you rather look at?
Niɱ |
Looks similar to Nim's HeroLab export layout.
I prefer less spoiler buttons to have to click on... but that is more of a DM issue than a player issue. :)

I apologize since there are actual conversations going on now, but since this is where I normally put these random musings...
I believe that there is a fine art to choosing the number of "o"s in a "no" or "oh", to take two examples. Two "o"s are fine for an "ooh" which is intrigued, but not for a "noo" which just sounds like "new". Three: "oooh" is appreciative, while "nooo" is whiny. Four is a number associated with death in Japanese IIRC, and sure enough, it reads in a doooomy way: "noooo" is fatalistic, and "ooooh" is haunting. Five flips over from negative to positive, so that "nooooo" is dramatically defiant and "oooooh" is expressively appreciative. Anything over that is excessive and adds a comedic element of scenery-chewing, like a Shatnerian "NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" Or maybe it's just me?

Thanks for the kind welcome :)
Ok - still a partial work in progress, but putting up the major choices for DM Stephen to yea or nay.
Things that need approval:
1. Use of Varisian Pilgrim archetype from Inner Sea Magic.
2. Trait and God are chosen from Faiths of Purity.
Question: What would the alternate benefits be if I invested a feat into 'Skill Focus: Perform (Harrow)'?
Str: 10, Dex: 10, Con: 10, Int: 13, Wis: 17, Cha: 16
Traits: Boarded in Varisia (Bluff effect), Empyreal Focus (from Faiths of Purity)
Feats: Selective Channeling, TBC (Harrowed or Perform (Harrow))
Skills: Diplomacy, Heal, Perform (Harrow), Sense Motive
God: Sinashakti the Walker of Worlds (Empyreal Lord); Domains: Luck, Azata (Subdomain of Good)
Gear: Chain Shirt, Shortbow, Daggers, Harrow Deck

So we are getting a gypsy harrow deck fortune teller and a hex flinging witch, who may or may not use voodoo dolls*?!
There goes the neighborhood! ;)
* I just made the voodoo doll part up. :)

One other tweak:
Skill Focus Perform (Harrow)
Benefit: You get a +3 bonus on all checks involving the chosen skill. If you have 10 or more ranks in that skill, this bonus increases to +6.
Special: Extraordinary skill: Once per day your connection to the powers of the "Harrow" allows you to perform an "Extraordinary Reading". Your reading duplicates the spell Augury for one specific course of action but with no material components. The reading still takes a full minute. Also the Base chance for a meaningful reply is 60% + your Perform (Harrow) total skill bonus instead of your level.
Skill Power: Bend the Fates - You can see the future just enough to bend it slightly. Once per day as an immediate action you can make an enemy take a -4 on a single d20 roll against you. You must take the new result of the roll. This could be an attack or a d20 caster check for example.

Touché. :)

We do need to discuss gear....you will have most of the basics covered and be able to spend some cash on additional items which you will defintely have (like scrolls and potions you will be able to hang onto). Some of your routine adventuring gear may not be available...
Going to work on your intro this weekend, you can adjust accordingly once you review it. I plan to let you decide what gear you have left over or makes sense from the intro....

I'm waiting for my damn avatar problem to sort out and finishing up background and tweaks. Crunch wise i'm basically done.
Dm, i've assumed a dinosaur familiar (tiny sized) is acceptable on Smugglers Shiv, if not i'll switch to a Toad or something...
The dinosaur would depend on your background. As long as you have a solid reason for encountering and having one I am fine with it...
Anton Green |
Revised my profile. Hopefully easier to use. Turns out there was a limit to how much I could simplify it, since Anton's just a complicated guy.
Anton Green |
Two-Handed Weapons (from the APG) seems the best fit for how Anton has acted on this island so far -- especially since I'm thinking of replacing my trident with a halberd, if I ever get a chance -- but it's a lifetime decision. He had a mount before and presumably will again, so maybe I should go with the Mounted Combat style anyway, even if it's useless for awhile? A similar argument could be made for his proud halfling sling staff. I don't know, just kind of thinking out loud here.
I find that I'm enjoying being specialized and filling my chosen role very very well; knowing that I'm a super scout makes me fine with neither being a combat monster nor having any magic at all. (I only didn't make a jack-of-all-trades on account of how the recruiting had defined roles.) Maybe the question should be, which style would make me better at what the group is depending on me to excel at? So I still have to consider Archery, thanks to Swift as Shadows making sniping more practical; and even a Medium mount isn't all that compatible with the Scout and Ruins Delver roles.
I'll have to ponder this.
Aedalis Omathi |
Presenting Adealis Omathi. I've been working out the background with DM but i'd rather not have it written down, I thought it would be nice for people to organically learn about the character i'm role-playing rather than reading it on my charsheet for once :).
The crunch is of course, now visible for fellow player scrutiny.

Time seemed to pass painfully slow over the last 3 days…just 4 days ago you were comfortably sailing towards Eleder when the damn ship struck something…you still don’t know what it was. Within minutes you were in the water with the Flotsam and watching the captain and a few others rowing away. The bastard left you, you and 5 others to die in the water. There was no more room in the boat he yelled, would you have done the same? 5 was how many started in your little group, floating in the water…
When the sharks came, they took 3 of the others, either through luck or calm nerves, you survived unharmed from the attack. Then Findley, you are not sure what happened to him, you suppose he may have just fallen asleep and slipped into the water. 3 days, floating in the ocean. You knew your time would soon be over. Mihai turned out to be the most useful, being able to turn salt water into fresh water…but the hunger would overtake you in just a few days if a storm didn’t.
That was when you saw it, the green glow on the horizon. Maybe it was luck, but the glow could be seen from some distance so you swam, as hard as you could towards it. As you grew closer, it turned out to be an island. It didn’t matter that this island seemed to glow green, it was land which meant possibly surviving.
You must have been hallucinating by the time you came closer though. As you approached the island you both swear you saw a ghostly figure, a Tricorn hat on its head, walking on the water. He seemed to almost wave to you and you swam towards him. He then walked away from you, but you continued to follow him for some reason.
It turned out to be a wise move as to either side of the ghost, the waves crashed against the coast of the island and on reef’s, but the ghosts path led to a sheltered cove and a beach.
You rested on the beach exhausted, but out of the water until you awoke from the sun beating on your face. You pulled what goods you had left from the flotsam that had saved your life and began to look around. Immediately you saw something that made you cautious…foot prints. The tracks were obvious but booted. People! You had no idea where you were but it was the only thing to do, you followed them.
It took you much of the day to follow the tracks but eventually you came upon a small group and their camp…5 survivors of another shipwreck! They had food…and they offered to share it with the two of you, roots and berries had never tasted so good…
This is the same day they are fighting the lizard, we can pick up in game once they resolve the fight at the ruins and pick up some RP as well. We will pick up any posts in the PBP in character. Welcome aboard!!!!
Mihai Soarta |
For Aedalis benefit, he'd know that Mihai has essentially gone walkabout which is why he was travelling from Varisia to Sargava. Sinashakti teaches to never let ones feet grow root, they must be kept to walking.
Should I be level 2?
Fortune Hex plus Bit 'o Luck should be a fun combo :)

Anton sees Nim's Scimitar laying on the ground next to him...a weapon that has seemed much more effective than anything else you have thrown at it so far. The Lizard Zombie doesn't seem to react to anything you do other than when you hurt it...
Anton's stike seems muted against the creatures body. Only Tragershen Wic and Anton stand with the creature....
Indeed, I thought about the scimitar on my drive to work, and then realized that a "Corbius, your dagger! Let me put it to use!" could've happened even earlier. Also, it would've had a hard time hitting me with an AoO, and Nim would've had an easy time carrying Nora's weight faster than a zombie (even a zombie lizard). We could've grabbed her body, booked it for home, and come back later better prepared.
Ah well, hindsight. And now I know that getting up early to post before work leads to beating myself up all day, since I can't brain at that time. (I really should've moved directly to stand over Nim's body; even with an AoO, still a better situation.)
DM Stephen |
I'll deal with Nora's gear later this holiday weekend (preferably after we've given her a proper funeral). Looks like Wise Owl didn't keep her profile updated; so it'll take a little digging to see what sank with the Jenivere, how many uses are left in her healing kit, things like that.
Thanks Fredrik, that will be a big help!
