Can't complain. Got Kingmaker tonight. Should be finishing off book 3 with any luck.

Looking forward to it.

Oh, pretty good on my end. Sneaking into Cheliax with a CG Gnome Summoner who patterned his eidolon after a giant squirrel. Nothing too hard.

Everything that needed saying was said on page 1. We've also had the requisite Beyond the Impossible plotline, more rules arguments than you can shake a stick at, and a guy who blew his lid over an RPG character when we refused to bow down and accept his obviously superior wizard logics.

I... can't think of anything else that actually needs doing here.

So uh.

How's life?

Thanks for the confirmation. You did this thread to be a nuisance and a jerk. You weren't really interested in testing whether your build worked or not. As I stated earlier, when you are interested in seeing how easy it is as a wizard to beat your build, especially with a henchmen, get it done and let's go to round to round combat. But I don't think you ever intended to do that in the first place. Because once your build is in place, you're no longer capable of altering your strategy like a wizard can.

Now I know what kind of poster you are and how much of a "thinker" you are. Not really much of one other than thinking of a way to be annoying.

I don't much care for people who post only to be annoying and aren't really interested in actually proving what they claim works. I also don't care for people who fail to see the problems in their own logic such as not noticing that a contingencyas well as 340 hit points after suppressing all your magic so that you weren't getting a full attack off defeated your alphastrike. You were getting one strike and then the wizard was disappearing. If you couldn't kill the wizard with one hit, then you couldn't kill the wizard. But you ignored that part of the strategy which I doubt a "thinker" would do.

You didn't create a real build capable of defeating a wizard. You instead created a thread aimed at annoying wizard players. If that was your goal, big success. Showed you're a real quality poster. I'm sure your flock once you get the build solidified and we wizard players can really show how easy it is to beat, will dissolve just like the flocks of every purveyor of false information.

Thus I dub you, Trinam, Barbarian God of Lies and Irritation. Thus will I always see you from here on out. And thus not fall for your greatest power: the power to annoy casters.

And before you assume I'm blowing my top, I'm just having fun too guy. Just like you. I'm not buying what you're selling. I especially am not buying what you're selling when the entire idea is based not on refuting strategy, but on being a dismissive, irritating person aka a jerk. Which is what you were doing.

P.S. What you call "wizard logic" was the rules and how they work. Which you weren't accepting. When you throw the rules out the window and attempt to decide everything in your favor, that's no longer a debate, that's one poster being rude to another poster solely to get on his nerves aka being a jerk.

Firstly, you clearly haven't read both threads so you don't know how this started or what the 'point' ever was/is.

Secondly, Trinam reiterated the purpose of AM a few pages ago and you have ignored that as well.

Instead you have chosen to deliberately, personally, directly attack Trinam!

Which means you're breaking the forum rules and violating the awesome culture of the Paizo forums.

I'd suggest just ignoring him. He's too absorbed in his superiority complex and is determined to respond offensively to any perceived slights to his self-asserted superiority, so what's the point?

Anyways, one thing we can discuss are magic items for the AM build.

Okay, I'll admit to skipping the last few hundred posts on this thread... and can't even recall the first few hundred... so this may well have been said before...

For me the least interesting part of the AM BARBARIAN stated tactics is the whole bit leveraging the well-known-to-be-broken Perception rules to get in his first, unstoppable, attack. Without that he's a lot less 'instant win', but still a great example of why the caster-martial disparity really isn't as bad as is often suggested on these boards.

At his core AM seems to basically just use the standard Barbarian tactics which cause havoc from level one up: charge in with a two-hander and slaughter your target before they even blink. The fact that AM demonstrates that this same tactic, added to and expanded on with various class features et al is still viable all the way to level 20 nicely helps to demonstrate that Barbarians are perfectly playable and keep up at all levels of play.

All in all an interesting and amusing thread: well done!

Maddigan wrote:

I understand your frustration. I also would like to see a build. However, I do want to point out that this thread wasn't Trinam's. It was started by someone else.

Also, Trinam has stated many times that AM BARBARIAN was never meant to be taken seriously. I would still like to see what he's got up his sleeve.

AM MYSTIC THEURGE, can you cast locate object to find maddigan's phylactery?

He must have one, otherwise i don't understand why he would get beaten down so many times, but STILL come back to harrass the heroes that are CLAN AM.

But thankyou anyway. Maddigan and AM have now become part of my campaign world as the most powerful NPC rivalry of the Material Plane. Maddigan shall be an 'all-powerful' lich with a god complex, who is secretly desparately afraid that AM might just be able to back up his bragging.

Ironically now that Triniam has managed to figure out how to get infinite rage he doesn't actually NEED to get the first turn anymore, since he can have rage up all the time now meaning he doesn't need too worry about getting nuked before his defences go up.

I would like to point out something, too.

AM does have an army...an army given to him by the gods themselves, probably the reincarnated spirits of all the dead castys he's laid waste.

i.e. he's riding a freaking summoner who has a metric load of Summoning spells.

Sure, Batty Bat might only regain spells 1/month, because he never uses them, but when AM rides around calling for his servants to follow him and dash themselves against the hordes of the enemy, well, hey, that's only thematic, right?

I can so picture Batty Bat screaming out for AM's servants to come join in the slaughter, and Ride of the Valkyries playing as AM swoops down with a bunch of MS IX beasties sweeping in a V-wing behind him.

Barbarian horde, on command!

Funny, none of the strategies you have proposed can be accomplished inside of a single round, yet you have described them as an unbroken sequence of actions with no response from your target.

Also, when having strategies pointed out to you that don't work, you claim you'd just do something different. Except that in an actual combat, you don't get to retroactively change your actions, unless you and/or your clone survives to fight again.

Honestly, that part I don't even mind; part of the thought experiment relies on point and counterpoint. One side suggests A, the other side counters with B; if B actually works to counter A, then that side tries to come up with X that won't be countered by B, or with Z that counters B so that it can't counter A. The back and forth is fine. The attitude that goes along with it is often less endearing to some (and in fairness that goes for both sides - you are apparently as vexed by posters on the AM side of the discussion as some posters have stated they are with yours).

Maddigan wrote:

The irony here is thick.

Maddigan wrote:

And growing thicker.

Maddigan wrote:
such as not noticing that a contingencyas well as 340 hit points after suppressing all your magic so that you weren't getting a full attack off defeated your alphastrike.

Except when it was pointed out that, even if the wall of suppression was your readied action (if memory serves, it was your second or third version of your readied action, but I could be misremembering) your contingency can also be spell sundered, with the first attack of the pounce, and the remaining attacks resolved thereafter, which even without magic items or spell effects will likely do more than 340 points of damage.

AM/BATTY's ability to fly, pounce, rage, spell sunder, strength surge, power attack, rage cycle, and the other essential elements of his alphastrike are unaffected by the wall of suppression, as they do not rely on spells or magic items. His raw numbers will be a bit smaller, it's true, but not nearly as much as you might think.

Perhaps an amusing thought experiment would be for TRINAM to calculate AM's stats in:

a. An antimagic field (where no Su abilities can be used)
b. After going through a wall of suppression where all spells and magic items are temporarily negated but Su abilities can be used.

Maddigan wrote:

Did I mention irony?

Maddigan wrote:

Except not.

This has already been pointed out to you in detail. Your sole response to the enumeration of the many flaws in your attempted plan was to point out that commune with nature would let you detect the presence of the eidolon because it's an outsider (which I didn't doubt; I hadn't read the synthesist lately and didn't remember whether the summoner went inside the eidolon or vice versa; the summoner 'wears' the eidolon and gains the outsider type).

Congrats. Your cohort is now aware of the "presence of powerful unnatural creatures" within 18 miles. The spell does not give you the identity or location of such creatures. Really, all the spell tells you by RAW is that they are present. Even having the spell tell you kind (whether type, subtype, or specific variety), amount, and number of these powerful unnatural creatures is outside what the spell tells you.

How exactly is learning of the presence of "one or more powerful unnatural creatures" going to help you precisely locate and ambush that creature, or to know that it is AM/BATTY at all when you go in prepared?

Your inability to locate him, or to reliably transport your theoretical posse of summoned/called meat-shields to that location in coordination with you, or to have them execute your plan with flawless coordination all stand uncontroverted.

Okay, let's get back on track here...how do you justify being able to do nonlethal damage to an object, Trinam? And what happens when you inevitably roll a 1, which you'd do, on average, every two minutes?

I don't. You can't deal nonlethal damage to an object, and that is exactly why the combo works. The feat doesn't check for damage, only for the sunder attempt to succeed, which means I just have to beat CMD with my CMB. Damage is irrelevant.

The answer to the second question is related to the following:

If your character is on the back of a dragon, and the dragon moves 400 ft as a double move, can you full attack the dragon you're riding?

Dark Archive

Now I just have this image of AM BARBARIAN constantly sundering a dull grey ioun stone orbiting his head. Or possibly BATTY BAT's head.

'ONE DAY, STUPID FLAPPY STONE! ONE DAY...YOU GET YOURS!'

(He is, after all, constantly enraged...he must have built up quite a hatred of the thing he's been sundering non-stop for the past umpteen days/months/years!)

Okay, maybe I don't understand what you're getting at. I think you're trying to use a merciful weapon to do nonlethal damage to an object to sustain infinite rage. The issues I have with this are that A) you can only do lethal damage to an object, so your weapon will either 1) automatically do lethal damage - not no damage as (I think) you're assuming, or 2) automatically fail the sunder attempt; B) you can't full attack and take a double move unless you're charging with pounce, and since the object is in your square to start with, you can't charge it. Ergo, no full attack, and an ever-diminishing number of rage rounds. Now, I've got no problem with you taking a move and an attack, but that's not the 97 MPH (actually, 45 MPH at a move speed of 200, assuming a double move by the mount every round), and doesn't solve the inevitable-1 issue.

Oh, and you can only full-attack the dragon if you're in combat with it. If it's your mount, you can't full-attack it while it's moving, because you can't charge it - see above.
