Stay tuned at the KQ Blog. Ben McFarland and I are brewing up something. :)

Our two Admiral spots got taken yesterday! Woot! There were some cool bonuses included therein.

We are $500 away from the inclusion of a larger, high-level, devious adventure to be included. We are $1500 away from getting printed maps of the new islands. Please help us spread the word. This voyage is going to rock, and you won't want to miss out on an opportunity to guide its course. As with all Open Design projects, this one will be a great opportunity for those seeking to a chance to earn writing credits in this industry.

Thanks to all who have already joined us! A new monster preview will be coming out soon.

The Exchange Kobold Press

New monster preview is out now.

And it's a rarity, one of those extremely-hard-to-design-well CR 1/2 monsters, with a twist.

Thanks for joining us! We are very close to hitting the required amount for an extended book--128 pages of goodness! Next milestone is the map!

The project is just $40 from becoming 128 pages of Here-there-be-Dragons style goodness. The forums are taking shape in the electron clouds of the Kobold Warren, hammered into place by Wolfgang, and Christina is chained to a keyboard...err, feverishly and enthusiastically crafting the next preview post.

This is the community that brought you Sunken Empires, Tales of the Old Margreve, Northlands, and Streets of Zobeck. You can be sure that any voyage in to the unknown is going to be a voyage done with style!*

*note:
Well, at least a voyage with maps by Jonathan Roberts! But definitely style, too. ;)

Small but Fierce.

Ha! It's $15 away now. :)

Btw, his Koboldness and I will be doing an online text-only chat on Dec 1st at 9:00 PM EST--I'm told that's -4 UTC. Here's a Facebook link: Journeys to the West Beautiful Brains Chat

Stop by and Friend me, too!

Contributor

We've got ourselves a 128-page book now, folks! Wohoo! Thanks!

Shadow Lodge

*steeples fingers* Excellent.

The Exchange Kobold Press

Aaaand we have a sneak preview of the starting map by Jonathan Roberts!

Not sure what time that chat will be on where I am, or if lil Wolfcub will be needing his dad then... We'll see.

Christina: have sent friend request ** spoiler omitted **

Thanks! I responded.

Thurs, Dec 1st at 9:00 PM EST: Journeys to the West chat with Open Design--Christina Stiles and Wolfgang Buar--on the Beautiful Brains Books & Games site. Check the Chat tab at Beautiful Brains.

The Exchange Kobold Press

Also, the Nethysule race is statted up and illustrated as a preview on KQ, covering one of the inhabitants of the large island of Morphoi.

They are also a playable race that really goes off the beaten track a little. Sort of a kindly vegepygmy. But stranger than that.

We have poster maps! Thanks so much, everyone.

Stay tuned to the KQ blog this week. We'll have another interesting creature up.

The Exchange Kobold Press

Yes, the project is now 128 pages for the same price, and includes the poster map at the same price. I'm delighted with the support for an exploration-based set of adventures!

Contributor

The Morphoi Hulk went up on the Kobold Quarterly blog today. This natural enemy of the neh-thalggu should prove to be a tough opponent for explorers coming across them.

Also, more reward tiers have been added to the
Journeys to the West kickstarter project
. Be sure to check it out.

And I just joined another OD-project I don't have the time to properly participate in. How do you do that?

Paizo Employee CEO

I just signed up for my first kickstarter! I just needed to get in on the ground floor of this cool project. And it will be heavily cannibalized when I run Skull and Shackles in a year. I may not be able to participate in all the dialogue and stuff, but I look forward to the finished product. Maybe we can get to $8,000?

Thank you so much fo joining us, Lisa! Woot! I hope you cannibalize the heck out of it! :)

Contributor

We are just $70 away from opening up the next reward: A set of treasure maps. a logbook, secret aboleth glyphs, additional art to show players, deck plans, and other player handouts if Journeys reaches $8,000.

The Exchange Kobold Press

Thank you Lisa!

We are now just $5 away from adding the cool player handouts to this project.

Contributor

8K has been met! Woot! Thanks, all.

The Exchange Kobold Press

Which means all backers get the treasure maps, logbook, extra art, deck plans, and the aboleth glyphs, at the same price. This project keeps turning into a better and better deal!

Liberty's Edge

Wow, that's awesome!

This does sound like it's gonna be really cool!

The Exchange Kobold Press

We're about $300 away from adding a pirate secret society to the project, which would push it to a total of 144 pages plus player handouts and poster map.

The project is in its final week of funding.

The current total is $130 away from the next expanded goal: "A complete pirate secret society writeup with leaders, monsters, lair, ships, and nefarious plans, a 16-page standalone mini-expansion for all backers".

A Captain level patron, or any equivalent, would push this over.

Shadow Lodge

I'm going to cry if we miss that tier. You don't want me to cry, do you?

TOZ wrote:

Hmm, so you're saying funding or not funding the project is win-win?

Eeenteresting...

Wow! $9.4k! Only one tier still to go! Print copies for all backers of $25 and up and hardcover for Captains and above. C'mon folks, lets make it happen!

Lantern Lodge

Joined as a Captain today. Never a question I would join, but spent a couple weeks deciding which tier. If you're still on the fence, I would highly recommend participation. I'm sure you can find someone willing to make it a Xmas present.

The Open Design projects are a very unique RPG experience. Not only do you get a great product (take a look at all of the 5-star reviews for Open Design work), but you get to help create it. The value of this project is amazing. You're looking at 144 pages of material PLUS player handouts like deck plans AND a poster map. And this content will help support your Skull & Shackles campaign, a Midgard campaign, or your own homebrew. Help put us over $10k, only $515 to go!

Just signed up. Current funding is at $9760 with about a week to go. This is the first kickstarter I've ever backed. I'm very excited to watch the design process.

Now, let's reach 10k!

Contributor

Wow, you guys are blowing me away! Can't believe we are so close to 10K. Wolfgang and I are now brainstorming goodies for higher tiers.

Thanks to everyone backing this project!

And the project has now crossed $10K!

Liberty's Edge

Wow! Awesome!

Hey, I tried to up my pledge to $25 and the kickstarter website gave me an error message. Is there something up with that?

The Exchange Kobold Press

Nope, the site seems normal. Might just be a hiccup.

Yeah, it looks like it went through. No prob.

It's at 10K+ with goodies planned for 11K and 12.5K. Good stuff is on the horizon and with six days to go, there's a very good chance we're going to see it!

Do you want in on this? Or do you want to kick yourself six months from now? Sign on and sail into the West with us!

The Exchange Kobold Press

I'm starting to worry that there's too much stuff being promised for too little money. But hey, Open Design's loss is your gain!

All backers now get the print book and all the extras for $25. Including US shipping.

The Kobold Overlord has obviously gone mad, folks! $25 for all this! You'd be crazy not to take advantage of his lapse in judgment and join the crew. It's gonna be like a Christmas in June when it all ships, and you'll have plenty of material to entertain your players with.

Hoody hoo!

Ohhh...I'm looking forward to seeing what additional benefits you'll come up with for us $50+ backers... :)

copied from the kickstarter comments page:

Someone's signing hand is going to be sore.
