Rules Questions

i brought up a question in a society game about wayfinders today. is there a possible way i can get a magic tattoo on my chest of a wayfinder and it also work as a wayfinder does for the society? if there is a possible way to do so would you write the correct steps in making this possible ...feedback would be appreciated. thankyou =)

If I'm understanding this correctly - that your character wants a working wayfinder tattoo on his chest - no, there is no way to do this. Wayfinders are magic items and you can no more have a functional wayfinder tattoo than you can have a usable figurine of wondrous power tattoo. That's just not the way magic tattoos and magic item slots work.

That said, for lots of stuff you CAN do with magic tattoos, check out Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Inner Sea Magic.

But a wayfinder doesn't fill a slot...

No it doesn't, but a chest magic tattoo counts as filling a chest magic item slot. And you can't take a held item and try to magic tattoo it into a chest slot.

Scrolls are the only things that are - sort of - an exception to this, as detailed in the description of spell tattoos in Inner Sea Magic.

Now that I look at those, I have to ask...

what is the purpose of the Reservoir Tattoo?

The thing costs 10,000 gold, and all it does is freeze the duration on a self-cast spell that still has to be activated as a standard action and can only be used once per day...

Sure doesn't seem worth the money to me.

I am now picturing a Wayfinder implanted against the heart, Iron Man-style. We need rules for grafts. : )

As I seem to be reading reservoir tattoo, only spellcasters get any use out of it, because of the "The spell must be one the bearer cast on itself" line.
Am I correct in that someone with no caster level would find this tattoo worthless?

You are considered the caster when you drink a potion.

There's no way you could do that to my knowledge. No reskinning or custom magic items.

Does society play allow for any tattoos at all? I thought the broader answer to his question was no, because Society Play does not allow tattoos

Holy symbol tattoo is legal to my knowledge. I would think tattoos would be, at least as a cosmetic.

According to the Additional Resources, some of the tattoo stuff from Inner Sea Magic is allowed, but not all of it. Varisian Tattoos are allowed, as is the Tattooed Sorcerer archetype, and "all magical tattoos on page 16", though I don't have the book in front of me, so I don't remember which ones those are.
