I'm curious if anyone has made a form-fillable version of the Beginner Box character sheet. I know there are plenty of fillable PDF sheets out there, but it would be nice to have one that matches the beginner box style.

+1. And if it looks like the pregen sheets, where what's "written" in is a different color and in a different font, that would be cool, too. :)
Though you've got to admit, filling the thing out by hand is part of the fun of the game. But I'd like to keep a record on my computer of people's character sheets as they level up, and it would be cool to have something saved there in case you lose it.

Can you elaborate on what style you are looking for?

I was looking for a PDF version of the character sheet that comes in the Beginner Box (like the one you can download from the Beginner Box page here at Paizo), but that allows the user to type in the information on the sheet.
Something like this sheet, but with the same style as the sheet that comes with the Beginner Box.

Yes, please!
In January, I may be teaching schoolkids how to play Pathfinder from the BB and I wanted to make a dwarven barbarian as a fifth character, using the Wayne Reynolds picture of Harsk for the cover. A form fillable sheet (especially one like the 4 pregen sheets) would be fantastic.
I found this thread and thought "sweet they did release the character sheets". But then I noticed it was just a pdf link. I love the BB character sheets however, I would like to make some changes to them. So my questions are
1. Is it okay for me to use that as a basis for a character sheet but change it? (no I am not going to sell them, I will use them in my adventures)
2. How do I go about making a character sheet? Do I need special software? Do you just draw it in paint? I really have no idea how to start but I do know I love the layout of the BB character sheets.
Please help push me in the right direction so that I can learn how to do this. Of course I need to make some adjustments, got to have cmb/cmd. That is all I can think of off the top of my head.
1. If it is just for your home game and it never travels beyond your table, you can do whatever you want. Beyond that point you should follow the Community Use Policy.
2. Use whatever software you have access to and understand. In the past I've used Excel.
If people are still looking for a PDF Form based character sheet I created one. It is my first attempt so please let me know if adjustments are needed.
The PDF Form is basic- no calculated fields.
The PDF can be found at my public GitHub:

The file is:

Okay, so here it is! Please keep in mind a couple things about this PDF:
1. I put hours and hours of hard work into it. But I know it's not perfect. If you have some suggestions, I'll see what I can do. But I'm also not a wiz at Javascript, so getting some things to work may not be easy.
2. The sheet was taken directly from the BB character sheet. It was designed only for the main character races and classes for the Beginner Box: Dwarf, Elf, Human for races, and Barbarian, Cleric, Fighter, Rogue, and Wizard for classes.
3. Barbarian has no equipment. I couldn't find any in the PDF for it, so I just left it out. Other classes list equipment. But things like a Fighter's weapon focus item, or a Cleric's deity or holy items are also not listed, since these are chosen during character creation. Just type them in.
4. Fields can usually be overridden. But not all of them can be. Things like modifiers are usually calculated for you. Hopefully they all work properly.
5. I used Acrobat Pro and Livecycle to create this PDF. If you have Adobe LiveCycle, you may be able to edit/customize the PDF to your heart's desire. Go for it!
If you test it out and find anything odd, please let me know and I will try to correct it in the PDF. You can notify me either via PM, or using comments on the Google Drive document.
Thanks for your hard work on character sheet PDF it's amazing! It even works on my Android phone.
I was thinking about doing something like this as an excel spreadsheet, but you've definitely nailed it with this one.
I wonder how hard it would be to make one for the core rulebook? I'll be converting my group from Beginner box ruleset to core rules once my core book is delivered in a couple of weeks.
I'm new to Pathfinder/D&D in general, so I'm still learning a lot about the game. Making the PDF actually helped clarify a few things for me (along with learning basic Javascript). But I won't be making anything for the core rules anytime soon.
I have a better idea of how to make the PDF, looking back at it. It could be created much more efficiently than I went through it, but the number of combinations in the core rules would really make it difficult to cover everything. Just doing what I did, but covering all core classes and races, would take a while to do.
I may end up doing that somewhere down the road. But, right now my main concern is getting a group of people together to play PF with me. Gotta set up a game session!
If you are distributing the sheet to the public, it should follow the guidelines outlined in the Community Use Policy. I've removed the URL for the time being. Please take a moment to read over the policy and make the appropriate changes before distributing the sheet.
Chris, thanks for pointing that out. Being new to this community, I completely overlooked that. I'll get a community project up and post the notice in this thread. Does the notice need to be included on the character sheet itself?

Remember this part of the license too:
"You agree to not use Paizo's trade dress—that is, you may not make your material look like ours."
Although your sheet could have a similar layout, it shouldn't use Paizo's artwork etcetera (beyond the various bits and pieces available through their downloadable community use packages).
That's a good point... So, I can't make my character sheet available, then, can I? Not without erasing the original BB Character Sheet artwork in the background, anyway.
Sorry, everyone... should've read the rules a bit more closely before I just threw the sheet up for download.

I don't think you have any need to apologise - the effort you went to is appreciated. FWIW, I think there is a significant demand for a form fillable PDF character sheet - if you had the time and energy to redesign the look (whilst keeping the functionality basically the same) I'm sure it would be welcomed. Much easier for me to just type that than to actually have to do it, of course! :p
Thanks, Steve. I'm not exactly an artist, so I don't know what I would do to make the sheet look good. It would likely end up as just a white sheet with labeled fields. It might still be functional enough to be useful. Perhaps someone else might be willing to supply artwork to make it look a bit more polished?

I can guarantee I'm less artistically inclined than you are...
I don't know if its useful/easy to incorporate, but Paizo have made The Community Use Package available which includes some artwork which can be utilised under the Community Use License. You'd still need to keep the design/layout distinct from their "look", I suppose - but it does include a character sheet. Maybe you could re-tweak that (ie take out the non-BB-relevant stuff)?
I appreciate its a lot of work but I, for one, would get a lot of use out of it. :)
