Indeed! In fact the FGG site does not seem to have had any updates in a while. I hope all is well....

I believe Bill was on a extended vacation in Brazil or somewhere down South America ways. [/QUOTE

I don't believe that the Frog God's family has left for warmer climes as yet, but soon. Things will be quiet in the FGG universe until March.

Stay tuned though! Big news is coming your way.

Thanks Greg and Dawn...

I am looking forward to the Big news...

Dark Archive

So, it is now March. Any news yet?

Once The Frog God gets back from South America, I'm sure there will be, but no news at the moment. I'm expecting the announcement in mid to late March.

In regards to battlemaps, have you ever thought of partnering with a company that specializes in that type of thing? 0one Games does maps like nobody else in the business.

Come Hell or high water (or me getting fired), there will a be a SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT on March 16 (that's my birthday, and I like to share).

And, if I have my way, there will be additional announcements coming at regular intervals until this book gets finished.

Here's an announcement: First round of content editing is done. Now, only 4 or 5 more rounds to go....

P.S. Kthulhu, Im gonna make you eat some of those words come the 16th...hint ,hint :-)

One day earlier and it could have also been an "Ides of March" annoucement. But, no, you HAD to be born a day late. :-)

Well, you know what they say, irritation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Wait, that may not quite be how that one goes...

Another round of editing/writing gave me a page count of 666 pages of manuscript. its at 12 point font, so dont get too giddy.

BTW, Frog-in-Jungle confirmed he has 3 more levels written so far. I shudder to think what he came up with down there.

SG

PS i think I kinda made Chuck cry when I mentioned part of the announcements, so there's always that....sorry Chuck. Much love, man!

Small update the First:

Just finished stating up a CR 28 opponent. Over four MILLION xps (almost 5 mil) if you can defeat it. Stat block alone takes up just less than 3 pages. And yes, its an undead.

Dont think anyone in Bill's years of actual gameplay has run across it, but I could be wrong. You certainly dont want to now!

We're bringing the scary back.

Still waiting to order this one and for the other big announcement.

Someone please put me out of my misery...

His Sliminess arrived at home yesterday. I don't know, however, how long he's going to lounge in the Muck Spa before he makes any official announcements.

Not only is it in 12-point font, but it's not even on the correctly formatted pages.

I throw away all editor formatting, doesn't I, Precious!

Small update the Second:

Scramge got a nice overhaul, thanks to the Bestiary 3. His encounter almost makes game-sense now. Don't believe anything you see!

RA makes liberal use of all the Bestiaries (I love gugs), Ultimate Magic and Ultimate Combat, the APG, and of course Tome of Horrors Complete. If you do not own these books, you can gain any of the info online, and if you dont't do online stuff....how are you reading this????

Seriously, we tried to draw from the many excellent sources Paizo has given us over the years, and incorporating good, new ideas with our good, old ideas. i think we have created a great mix of old and new.

SG

PS DO NOT GO DOWN THE WELL!!!

PSS Never, EVER, go in the water in or around a dungeon. Just dont go in water at all. Don't you people watch River Monsters????

Uh oh. I hope there aren't any giant candirus...

I did the cover to the original Sword & Sorcery edition of Rappan Athuk 3. Any chance you'll be reusing that piece of art? If so, I can provide you with the original hi-res files (as well as a version where the mariliths are appropriately topless). I'm glad to hear that these books will be making a comeback. They were definitely definitive and helped set the bar for early OGL publishers.

-Talon

Frog God Games

That would be wonderful, Talon! You can either send them to myself or Bill and he'll forward the art to me. If the topless mariliths get in it will be int he Swords & Wizardry version. <grin>

You can contact me through magnir (at) gmail (dot) com and Bill's contact is Bill (at) talesofthefroggod (dot) com.

And hopefully the people who want this get the word and we do not have a repeat of the Tome of Horrors Complete issue. I think this is a good reason to put the word out early so the word gets out...

Frog God Games

The thing is, we got the word out as best we could with Tome of Horrors Complete, but nothing that we could do could match Erik Mona's announcement the day they went up for sale. It's very hard to gauge total interest in any book. We simply don't have a marketing budget and we're still very much a word-of-mouth advertiser.

So please, get the word out everywhere you can!

You realize that every time one of you frog god people post here I am compelled to open this thread in case it's The Big Announcement?

It's been a day of false hope. :(

Shadow Lodge

I beleive that some sort of big annoucement/update is scheduled for 16 March.

This makes me sad. the updates are supposed to make us feel better. The 16th, my friend, the 16th.

Small update part C:

2 new PrCs, plus a variant path, and a couple new templates (so far)
couple new Feats
Many new monsters (some updates of "old" monsters)

half a dozen or so Artifacts (yes, thats correct)
SEVERAL higher-than-CR 20-encounters (running is almost always an option)
Water is very, very bad.

thursday will be the last small announcement, then Friday will be my Big Announcement, then we'll see about others.

Get the word out!

SG

Want big announcement already.........

He's teasing me, too, guys. I know the big announcement but I haven't seen the manuscript for the new RA because I'm wearing waders and hip-deep in Slumbering Tsar at the moment.

I'll set pre-orders as soonas its all written...probably early May? Still shooting for a August release.

I can't set a price point until I get a printer quote (basically a page count)--I can tell you it will have a leather-like cover and will look like a bible...stitch bound of course, silk bookmark.

Sounds awesome Bill.

Man, Frog God Games is about to be sued for abuse of my wallet. I don't do preorders, and you guys managed to get me for two and going for the hat trick.

How long are we going to keep preorders open? I'm dreading hitting a rough spot in the pocketbook that keeps me from getting this one.

I totally agree! Paizo has my trust to do a preorder, and now Bill and his crew, with it having turned out so well. I am still wary after a certain person promised a certain book... Oh forget it it that horse is dead. Anyway, I am happy that FGG has been able to restore my faith in a small publisher!

And how soon will you set-up a pre-order program for people wanting to buy through Paizo?

Small update the 4th:

Im having a hard day at work, so......small update turns into BIG MARCH 16TH UPDATE!!!!!!!!

New Maps for approx. 10 locations (can't get specific, yet), suitable for placing the small representations of your choice upon. To clarify--> WE HAVE BATTLEMAPS, DONE BY NONE OTHER THEN RICK SARDINHA!!!! READY FOR USE WITH THE MINIS OF YOUR CHOICE!!!!

I don't know if they will be separate or how they will be distributed, but they will be there. At this time, there are 30+ maps detailing 10ish encounter areas (I tried to pick the most iconic/needed areas). I currently have the low-res maps, and they are FANTASTIC looking. Im really impressed.

Ill be taking questions now...yes, you in the back

<..will they have secret doors and traps and stuff removed?>

why yes, they will! When you place these babies on the table, you won't be giving away the farm to the PCs. the least we could do for ya.

You over there!

<Can we suggest locations?>

Nah, sorry, we have a budget, and can't give every location, but I believe you will be quite happy with the choices, and many are usable in more than one location. Next?

<What size are the maps? 24 x 30, 18 x 96, 4 x 5?>

We will be doing 8.5 by 11. Anyone else?

<Can I just give you my wallet/soul now?>

Good question! As much as I would like to oblige, not really my department. Our people will get in touch with you...<evil grin>

so, Kthulhu, I hope that satisfies you, for a while...I know how you Elder Beings are...lol

Nice. Very nice.

Frog God Games

The maps will actually be 8.5x10.75. That's the size of the paper for hardcover books.

That was the question that you passed on to me from Rick, Skeet. ;)

Liberty's Edge

Is it going to be 1,000 pages?

Mike

Qstor wrote:

Mike

Doubtful, but the Frog has a few more months before I HAVE to cut him off (or it'll turn into vaporware), so it may be close by then. Im thinking more along the lines of 700-800 pages, not including maps or any other inserts. This is by NO MEANS an official pagecount; I only have my ms pages to go by, and as Chuck has pointed out, they aren't formatted correctly, so I can only go by the 300K plus word count. Ill go at least 500 pages, that's a 99% certainty (who knows what happens in editing). But Im not venturing a guess as to final count yet.

Expect the Ides of March when you are least expecting... wait...

Yay! The cat's out of the bag! Now I don't have to staple my mouth shut to keep from spilling the beans.

@Qstor: I don't think it will be quite that size. We'll know more about page count once Chuck gets his grubby hands on the manuscript.

This sounds terrific. My most eagerly anticipated rpg product this year. :)

A nice thing to keep in mind, this version of the world's deadliest dungeon has support for lower-level play as well. I dont know all of the new levels yet, but there is significant 1st to 5th level opportunities, unlike previous editions.

people are still going to die wholesale, but thats what you get. its called the dungeon of graves for a reason.

Soooo........whatcha doin..........how's that Rappan Athuk conversion/update goin? Good? Good.....

Soooo........yeah.....there's this other teensy, tiny NG book written just a little while ago.....and it could really use some Skeeter lovin (feel dirty even writing that) after Rappan Athuk is finished.....

....it involves an efreeti or two......

....and a certain CR 35 Sultan of the Efreeti....

....or, in other words.....

Any chance for a City of Brass Pathfinder conversion?
