Dan do you have specific Tiers you want us to prep for the special?

Given the player base I know. I expect levels 1-7 to have the largest showing. With out of the 4 tables maybe one table giving 5-7. That's just an educated guess though. There may be a group of level 11's out there I have no clue of. ><

Looks like it's just gonna be a day trip for me on Saturday, will make slots 2 and 3 on Saturday.

Signed up to play Sewer Dragons and to run the special.

Still scheduled for Year of the Shadow Lodge right? Not Blood under Absalom.

If so this will make my wife very happy. Her main is 9th so we may get a high level table.

Silver Crusade ****

I played in Sewer Dragons at U-Con. It was fun. I'll be running it this time. I'll be glad to have you at my table. Don't forget official sign ups are at the convention. The warhorn was more of a GM organization tool.

Taldor **** Venture-Lieutenant, Indiana—Northwestern Indiana aka VanceMadrox

Sounds good! Not sure which of my characters I'll be playing yet.

We are most definitely running the Season 2 Special instead of the Season 3 Special. I'm not seeing this as a problem since the Season 2 special was not run here in the past.

6 days to go.

Making maps for the special this weekend!

I have only one map left for the special, which I hopefully will not have to run. Gotta say, not too impressed with it. Seems really confusing, and the directions are not very clear to me.

Other than that, really looking forward to the Con. I just hope I survive it... ;)

Grand Lodge ***** Venture-Captain, Illinois—Decatur aka TwilightKnight

I recommend a GM meeting a hour or so prior to the event so any questions on how it runs can be answered. Most of us had a great time playing/running Year of the Shadow lodge, I know I did.

I wish the convention scheduled more than 30 minutes between slots...

The venue has a limiting factor on how early and how late we can be there thus cramping slots together. There was talk of moving the venue if we get enough people there this year and outgrow this subpar site. Here's hoping.

Shadow Lodge ***** Venture-Captain, Michigan—Alma

Hey Dan, have you registered the events? If so, what's the event code, and are you getting the sheets for all tables, or do each of the gm's need to do their own?

Event# 10400

I will be providing sheets as soon as the website lets me download the sheets. I posted a thread regarding the sudden inability to download the session sheets. No response as of yet.

Shadow Lodge ***** Venture-Captain, Michigan—Alma

I saw that, I was going to ask my question there, but decided this would be the better place. :)

Eric, I was looking at the session sheets. I will have you GM if we have 16+ players, not including you. More than that and I/we risk overloading our 3 GM's. If there was a better way, I would do it, but unfortunately that's what we have to work with.

Shadow Lodge ***** Venture-Captain, Michigan—Alma

That's cool with me Dan. And if anyone needs maps for it and I don't end up running, I've got them.

Silver Crusade ****

Eric Clingenpeel wrote:

I'm hoping the other 3 GM's which are almost certain to run will have there maps already! LOL.

Maybe your maps will be super awesome and someone will want yours instead. :P

Heck I wanted and asked for another GM's maps for Intro 2 at U-Con. They were flipping awesome! 3D with props and stuff! Oh I was so jealous of his map. Made mine look like complete poop! I never used my map after he lent me his.

Shadow Lodge ***** Venture-Captain, Michigan—Alma

Well, I usually spend a good 3-5 hour per map... I tend to go overboard on some things... ;)

Of course for Shadow Lodge, I didn't do an arena or the Market, since I had the market flip mat, and have an arena map from "a company who shall not be named"'s free RPG day module a year or so ago. Since the scenario says that the map is only to assist in combat, not directly reproduce the arena. I actually had two, but one was only the arena floor, while the other has the stands as well. Saved me a bit of time. :)

Silver Crusade ****

I tend to spend a bit of time per map as well, and hand draw and color them. I had Brent Barbee tell me "I see you've been playing with Doug Miles" when he saw my maps for Carrion Crown. It's just how do you compare to a guy who spent 20 hours on one map and made it 3D? I don't know how you make a 2D map compare to a to scale 3D map. :P

Silver Crusade ****

Sign up sheets are done! My home computer was able to get the session sheets. I have those complete as well, and will be marking them shortly so I know which is which.

Shadow Lodge ***** Venture-Captain, Michigan—Alma

I thought I'd mention that this weekend is the last weekend for Merrymead too. I'm planning on bringing a bunch of these for those in my games that haven't had a chance to get it yet. I'd love to see someone play a character who is drunk through some of the scenarios... :) Would be quite fitting for the Shadow Lodge special.

Silver Crusade ****

I planned on printing like a hundred of them, and will hand them out to players wanting one at the PFS prize table. Max potential players we have not including repeats is 168. Will we have that many? YEA!!!! Really? Probably not.

Shadow Lodge ***** Venture-Captain, Michigan—Alma

So you're saying I shouldn't bother printing them out myself then... ;)

Also, now that you brought it up, I've been curious as to how the prize table will work. :)

Silver Crusade ****

Well, here are my thoughts and how I think it will run. At the end of every session. The GM will have a D20 roll off that includes themself if they desire. High roller ties are rerolled. Winner comes to my table and gets to draw from my Harrow deck, and will recieve a prize. Prizes will vary in value from super awesome to "that's neat". I will probably give each GM a sticker gold star, and they can apply it to the winners chronicle sheet or to their report sheet if the GM wins.

If you have anything that you think would a really cool prize or something of value, we can add it to the pile and replace my lower value prizes. Since whatever is not being provided by Paizo is provided by me, this is a donation process and by no means required. If you do have something PM me. I prefer the prizes remain a surprise. :)

Eric Clingenpeel wrote:

If you want to bring them for your specific tables, then by all means I encourage you to. Oversaturation of a cool boon and making sure there are enough channels of distribution sounds like a good idea to me.

Silver Crusade ****

Less than a day till the fun starts.

I have:
50 character sheets
100 Merrymeade Boons
10 1st level pregens
5 4th level pregens
3 7th level pregens
28 tables worth of sign up sheets
2 up to date society guides
28 tables worth of prizes
10 new player cards, and I'll print more if needed.
28 tables worth of reporting sheets

Going to buy tonight:
a box of el cheapo pencils
An el cheapo pencil sharpener
A box of el cheapo pens
a few packs of index 3x5 index cards
28 stickers for prize markers.

Have I missed anything?

Shadow Lodge ***** Venture-Captain, Michigan—Alma

Sleep?

Silver Crusade ****

is for the weak.

EDIT: In reality, I have set bedtimes during conventions. I make sure I'm in bed by X time, and I don't allow extraneous activities after the con doors have closed. I go home and pass out.

Don't worry Dan once you see the maps I have for the mods I am GMing you will definitely feel better about yours. I have a couple of flip maps, but the rest... well lets just say that I won't be winning any art hop events for my gaming paper masterpieces.

PFS maps are just like Pinata's... you keep swinging at stuff until the treasure comes out or someone gets hit in the :)

Silver Crusade ****

I got lazy this time. I just blew them up in paint and printed them.

Silver Crusade ****

Todays the day! Going to go to bed, and wake up today. Get ready and head over there... See you all around 2:30 or sometime during the con if you're not there the whole time!

Shadow Lodge ***** Venture-Captain, Michigan—Alma

Yep, got into Kzoo last night. We rushed hoping to get in "before the storm hit" Some 3-5 inches! There's barely an inch here.

Just a reminder, for those that want to continue advancing their PFS characters, Gryphcon is next weekend.

As Dan said it's only 2-3 hours across the border. Closer than Toronto.

:)

Grand Lodge ***** Venture-Captain, Illinois—Decatur aka TwilightKnight

If you are further south and Gryphcon is too far to drive, we welcome you to attend Who's Yer Con in Indianapolis, 2-4 March.

Silver Crusade ****

Convention is going pretty well so far. 6 of 7 tables have successfully gone off and now that Romney is gone from across the hall we probably will pick up pace tomorrow.

Grand Lodge ***** Venture-Captain, Illinois—Decatur aka TwilightKnight

Did you at least invite him to play? 'Course, I'm not sure how the secret service would react if you killed his character. ;-)

Silver Crusade ****

17 of 21 tables successfully gone off at end of day 2. 7 more slots tomorrow. If we run 5 of those we've grown compared to last year! Lost two of our slots to downed GM, 2 to a lack of demand in the 3-7 range. All of our 5-9 tables were successful with a 4+ table. Every available 1-5 was filled to the brim. So, yea a 20% casualty rate is considered mission successful. So YAY! We're "militaristically" speaking successful!

***** Venture-Captain, Indiana—Indianapolis aka Red-Assassin

Good luck up there, good job.

Taldor **** Venture-Lieutenant, Indiana—Northwestern Indiana aka VanceMadrox

Running Year of the Shadow Lodge was a blast!

So was playing Penumbral accords, thanks Dan for being willing to switch the scenario from Sewer Dragons to Penumbral Accords.

Sorry we couldn't make it for more than a day trip of two slots.

Hope Sunday goes well!

Silver Crusade ****

3/4 slots went off first slot today. One table beat their scenario in 1.5 hours and fortunately their GM Eric had the kobold quarterly mini adventure. So they're still occupied.

Grand Lodge ***** Venture-Captain, Illinois—Decatur aka TwilightKnight

1.5 hours, hmmm, only the CatGnomeBunny can finish a scenario so quickly. Or Kyle, I suppose, but the results are different. ;-)

Silver Crusade ****

As I understand the player's dice were super hot, and the GM's were stone cold.

Shadow Lodge ***** Venture-Captain, Michigan—Alma

Yeah, I ran that.

Spoiler:
My init rolls always seemed to be low single digits, while the pc's were high, except for the skeleton who dropped the barbarian to -10 after a pounce and second round of attacks. We had a 2nd lvl halfing cavalier, a 1st lvl elven cleric, a 1st level Ezren, and a 2nd lvl half-orc barbarian S20 D14 C16 I7 W7 C7 when raging he was +10 attack 2d6+10 dmg. He one shot killed all of the fetchlings (except the bbeg), the iron cobra, and between him and the cavalier they killed the bbeg before anyone else went in the last encounter. Everyone was the same faction, Andoran, so they all shared the same faction mission.

Sadly, I couldn't find my Ambush in Absalom (and didn't think about running it off my laptop until the slot was almost over, though then I wouldn't have had the chronicle sheets anyway), so I helped one guy level his cleric, while having time to eat lunch and get to know the players better. If I had thought about it (earlier than the ride home) I also could have possibly run Citadel of Fire which I had with me for them, I'm sure they would have demolished that one too. :)

They all seemed to have a lot of fun even if it was short, and I think they were quite proud of the fact that they were able to breeze through it so quickly.

I have to say I enjoyed myself immensely. My first time running at a convention, and running 5 fun tables definitely makes me want to run at more. I'm glad to finally put some faces to some of the names on here. And look forward to Marmalade Dog 18.

Silver Crusade ****

I'm glad you came out Eric. Next "local" Convention is UCon in November at U of M. Not sure who will organize it, but I know if no one steps up...I would. I hope to see you there if not sooner. :)

Shadow Lodge ***** Venture-Captain, Michigan—Alma

Hopefully it'll work out. I know my wife had fun as well, and if Ucon is in the same location, I think I could probably talk her into it. :)

Silver Crusade ****

U-Con was at a hotel in Romulus, MI last year. I think I preferred playing at a hotel vs. the college. You can arrive earlier, you can stay on location 24/7, and no stress packing up after the days sessions are over. I really don't like rushing to pack up. bleh.

Silver Crusade ****

Alright! Reporting for this event is complete and we totaled out at 23 tables! Which is a 10% increase over M-Dog 16! If you'd like to continue helping PFS grow in the Kalamazoo, MI region, come look us up at our facebook Pathfinder Society: Kalamazoo or our Warhorn (Warhorn.org/pfs.kalamazoo).

I want to toss a special thanks to all of the GMs that helped make this possible. Without you, we could have never pulled this off!

Thank You (In no particular order):
Christian Smucker
Mike Upston
Brent Barbee
Sam Luckett
Ben Luckett
Eric Clingenpeel
Matt Haddix
Swiftbrook!
Brian Mooney

You all great GM's and I hope to see all of you next year!

Lastly, I want to give a shout out to Mike Brock and Paizo for their support with our prizes and scenarios. They made this entire process very smooth for us and the prizes definitely lit up more than one persons eyes in delight!

Silver Crusade ****

I went and broke down the stats for last this convention so that I have something to work from for next year. I'm posting it here for anyone interested.

Slot-----Tables-----Players
Slot 1-----3-----17
Slot 2-----3-----19
Slot 3-----4-----20
Slot 4-----4-----21
Slot 5-----3-----18
Slot 6-----3-----17
Slot 7-----3-----15

Shadow Lodge ***** Venture-Captain, Michigan—Alma

So, quite a few 6 person tables, huh? I think we could have possibly used another GM or two. Looks like there was a 7 person table Friday night? I know that last slot I only had 3, so the other two were a full 6 as well. Interesting stats Dan. So at most we had 25 people playing (unless you're counting GM's as players).

Grand Lodge ***** Venture-Captain, Illinois—Decatur aka TwilightKnight

Look at that list of GM's!
The nepotism is disgusting :-)

Shadow Lodge ***** Venture-Captain, Michigan—Alma

Hey, I'd be thrilled if some of my family members would take up the reins so I could get in some play time, but sadly none have felt the urge. :/

Silver Crusade ****

1 person marked this as a favorite.

They both were being wussies before I kinda brow beat them into it. Now they like GMing...

Moral of the story: Force them to GM, or beat them.
