Paizo can use most monsters from the monster manual 1(3.0/3.5) and still have a few they haven't used but still can like the Ravid. They can also use anything in the Tome of horrors, Epic level handbook, and I think the Psionics handbook.

Meh, I'd prefer they devote their resources to monsters we don't already have PFRPG stats for.

Like the remainder of the Malleus Monstrorum.

There are not many monsters left in Tome of Horrors that I would like to see in a hardcover bestiary but a few that come to mind are mudmen and eye of the deep.

Our the critters in the Malleus Monstrorum not copyrighted? Honestly, Outside of H.P's stuff, figuring out what Mythos stuff you can play with and what you can't is sometimes enough to cause sanity loss.

Personally I have wanted to see the Tcho-Tcho and Cats of "Aucturn" statted up, but I think Paizo is running out of obvious non-mythic level critters to include (Nightgaunts are coming out soon).

New 0HD playable races:
1)Fey Touched/Blooded race(part human and medium size)
2)Dog/wolf race
3)Chaos planetouched race
4)Law planetouched race
5)Aberration based race(but still humaniod in form)
6)Monstrous humaniod race
7)Turtle race
8)Positive energy planetouched race
9)Mouse race(small size)
10)Dream relm race
11)Plant race(other then the Ghoran)
12)Fey race that is not human(iod) blooded(small size)
13)Silicon/crystal based race
14)Squirrel race
15)Construct race that isn't a machine
16)Playable cyclops like race
17)Giant blooded race but still medium size
18)Race with snakes for hair(medusa-kin?)
19)Race with a third functional eye
20)insect based race

Aren't races better off in race book?

THey aren't beasts and monsters.

Also another new creature!

The english Lavellan, a terrible rat-like creature that can kill creatures with its terrible legendary poison.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

nope...Would rather have races in a bestiary than as a separate book, unless it is very setting specific (Like the Dragon Empires primer)

Can't we have both? One for DMs, and one for PCs?

Dark Archive

The dreamland npc race that looked like demons from dragon.....

Is there already the Aswang?

Quote:
Aswang may also replace their live victims or stolen cadavers with doppelgangers made from tree trunks or other plant materials.

With that you can do so much nice cool stuff!

So add a Aswang to my wishlist as well!

Ratfolk are already both Small and Rodenty.

Wyrwood.

Ogrekin.

A mouse race would have different abilities and mentalities to a rat race.

I should say construct like race that is better balanced then that one. Though I wasn't that impressed with the half-construct choice in the Advanced Race Guide.

A Giant-blooded race would be like Aasimar/Tiefling were they are humans who have giant blood in there veins, enough that they would have become there own race were there own abilities and culture.

A mouse race really? I think Cole is right, one small rodenty race is enough already. Furthermore there are also Ratlings in one of the adventure paths.

Mouse race sounds really silly, much like a disney movie.

21)A Dragon blooded race(not a dragon man race but like Assimar just some traits.
22)Rabbit based race
23)Race who are cursed with monstrous physical traits.
24)Playable race with human upper half and serpant body lower half.
25)Playable Minotaur race that is more "civilized".

Shapeshifting race of intellegent Oozes that can take humaniod form.
More powerful monstrous version that can change into anything.

More elementals, the last bestiary had only one.

Grey Aliens-big head, big eyes, small size with telepathy, telekinisis.

Alternate and additional abilities for mongrel men and other mixed/chimeric creatures.

A template for animals/vermin making them magical beast giving a selection of interesting abilities like DR, SR, Fast Healing, Human int and speach, wings, etc.

A cursed template for humaniods "who angered the gods".

Golems(Gold, Broken/discarded magic items, Copper, Gems/Crystal, Webs, Plants, Rope, Paper/Origami, Shell, Rubber, Weapons/armor, Dragon parts, etc.)

Evil puppets, toys, dolls, etc. but there own abilities not just animate object spell.

Lol, if it was for Dragon78 everything possible would be turned into a playable race... I think there are enough playable races to be sure, i'm even against sylphs being a playable race... rather saw it as a creature of cr 6 or higher.

Personally I would have preferred they use the names for Sylph, Undine, and Oread for there mythical versions instead but too late for that. I like the elemental races just wish they used different names for those three.

Kikimora, Kikimora, Kikimora

Like some vermin (insect) queen or something with fungus or vegetables.

But I want kikimora to be evil, cuz good creatures are mostly boring, and kikimora shouldn't be boring!

And some black cat verson of the Grimalkin would be awesome too!

How about a body-jumper ? a creature that can possess other creatures, enhance them and turn against other ?

I could see an evil incorporeal undead spirit which sole way to stay "alive" is to body jump and arrange the host to its liking. I could see a stat block for the spirit and another stat block for the host, as a template.

Isn't that a bit like Intellect Devourers do, and Dybbuks. Also Vilcasis (werewolf spirit) in animals with the enhancing parts.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I am glad I am not the only one who noticed that the Seaweed Siren seems to have been inspired by Duck Tales :P

Yeah, MMCjawa, I thought the same thing about the seaweed siren as well.

What you only want Genbu, I can't see only having one of the holy beat, it must be all or nothing.

I see several critters there that you would have to have mythic rules to have stats for them.

I don't like the holy beasts, Genbu would be an evil obsidian vulcanic turtle who has a black mamba growing out of its shell.

Also Ammut the crocodile, lion and hippo bodied eater of souls from egyptian mythology, BUT I really dislike the hippocampus parts, rather see a cool crocodile/lion mixture with very few (maybe only teeth) features of a hippo. IN my opinion the hippo parts make the beast look funny, hilaric and pathetic.

I also read that the Al-mi'raj also known as Miraj isn't that cute blinking bunny that the D&D made us believe, its actually a very dangerous rabbit creature that eats creatures much bigger than itself.

ANd I found another site with all kinds of cryptids: Cryptids of the world

EDIT: Mapinguari =
1: A Megatherium with the armor of a armadillo.
2: A sasquatch-like being with one giant eyeball on its head and a gaping maw on its chest.

Ground Sloths already have armor, it's just interspersed and covered by their fur.

If you are going to make things randomly evil and change the fluff that much, you should just make a new monster with a different name, IMO. Same with Ammut.

I also suspect that the holy creatures would probably need to be mythic.

Why? Medusa, Minotaur and others all changed from their real-life mythic counterparts so why not Ammut? What makes ammut different from Minotaurs and Rusalka's?

I've just seen pictures of the Ammut having the behind of a hippo (silly) and some that made it more like this:

Perfect Ammut

Here is a picture of one I find rather silly looking while its the real appearance (the artist did a great job, but its still silly looking)

Silly but Real Ammut.

I think the 4 holy beast would be fine as CR20s and more then likely they would be LN or N aligned.

Also the Almiraj were already dangerous in D&D, just because they are CR3 doesn't mean they can't kill a lot of people.

I'd love to see some more monsters from Native American mythologies, specifically North American.

I've actually been considering trying to create some monsters based on puebloan Kachinas, but if someone beat me to it, I wouldn't complain.

Their description in D&D makes them look like good-natured peachloving whimps of CR1...

They are far from the creatures from folklore.

Still a Few other cryptids I forgot:

Kasai Rex
Emela-Ntouka
Maltese Tiger (blue tiger)
Con Rit or the King of Herrings
Aswang
Mad Gasser (but not some gas mask wearing thing, more like a supernatural gas creating humanoid)
Lau the electric giant catfish monster
El Cuero (the stingray lake monster)
Veo (the gigantic pangolin)
Ahool the giant bat)
Cactus Cat (yes it really is a cryptid)
Sewer Alligator (Something interesting could be done with this)
Ropen
Canvey Island Monster with another name)

Btw I just saw a MANTIS creature (from the real world) names Empusa, so maybe a centaur-like creature named Empusa with half female and half mantis features? The real mythology Empusa isn't that spectacular anyway.

A sewer alligator would be pretty lame. You could just make it with the advanced templete and maybe even the large template. Or just advance it in HD.

The holy beasts sound interesting, but I'm going to be playing in Way of the Wicked so I look forward to fighting good guys for a change :) I could even see them as being cool counterparts to the tarrasque.

We're about a month away for the Inner Sea Bestiary and it looks like they took one of my favorite monsters, the frost salamander, and refluffed/rebuilt it into the 'water wraith' (note, it isn't undead nor incorporeal). So I cannot wait for that and the androids.

The Water Wraith is only CR2 so no it isn't as good of a replacement for the frost salamnder as I would have liked. Though I wish the regular salamander was as cool looking as the frost version.

I actually am okay with it being a lower CR. I like having interesting fights for low level players.

Actually made an ice basilisk with the cold aura of a Frost Salamander and it can turn people into ice with it's glare attack.

I think CR2 for a crocodile-like monster is a bit weak... When seeing that amazing drawing of the Water Wraith I thought it would be a level 5 creature or so...

Some creatures I simply find too weak or have too low CR (looking at sylph, white whale, Aboleth, Undine, Megatherium, Springheel Jack, Pech, Quickling, Cloaker and Hydra) or too high CR (I'm looking at you Satyr, Vrock & Cockatrice)

Wendo Spirits of all HD levels to Flesh out JuJu from Serpent's Skull.
make them Undead/Outsiders...we have the names of the big ones but how about some stats.

also rules maybe related to PlanarAlly for Channeling Wendo through yourself...stat bonuses, save bonuses, spell-likes(Commune, contactotherplane, magicjar, rage, feeblemind)

...or a Juju zombie of any alignment depending on the Wendo. I think we as adults can accept a good spirit animating a dead body for a short period of time. especially when you maybe have to make payment though planar ally.

Can anybody explain to me what Eidolons are suppose to be? Of all monsters in the world I only don't understand Eidolons, they appear in different form in every book I see them, they are very confusing.

Also new monsters alert in the form of: TAILYPO, the horrid monster from your childhood trauma's.

A lone hunter cuts off the tail of a strange beast and eats it, only to be stalked, haunted and eaten by it later.

Tailyko's appear under beds and on the end of your bed, begging in an alien language for the return of their tail.

IN the bestiary they can be just horrid creatures and family of the bogeyman, with very long strangling tails.

I'm not 100% sure I understand your question, but perhaps this will help.

All are custom-built by a summoner. And sometimes revised dramatically by the same summoner. Thus far, none are immediately avian, piscine, or gelatinous, but through customization, it's possible.

Something new I hadn't come across:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caballucos_del_Diablu

Could be good to use as inspiration for a group of dragonfly-like evil outsiders who steal luck.

Great. Just what we need: demonic insectoid flying pugwampi with fear inducing screams...

Scarab Sages

More animals from the pleistocene epoch would be great. Such as the marsupial lion and other marsupials, freakish elephants, tiny horses and the Diatrymas and Phorusrhacids that eat them, massive kangaroos, Aepyornis Titan (Elephant Bird), and so many extinct mammals...

Giraffe, Platypus, Sagittarius Bird, Polar Bear

Manes and Molydeus are stark absences in the fiend list to me too. I miss the Molydeus...

Most of this list also has animal companion potential. A Sagittarius Bird animal companion would be interesting if it is statted faithfully.

I would like to have some of those prehistoric animals like those tiny horses, killer kangaroos, Diatrymas/Phorusrhacids, etc.

We might be getting the Platypus in the player companion animal archive book.

Giraffe would be interestingsince there isn't living animal like it.

Polar Bear would just be an advanced regular bear.

Molydeus would interestin if there isn't any copyright issues.

My hopes for a Bestiary 4:

1. No more anthro-humanoids. The world has enough humanoid races in it.

2. PF equivilent for the mind flayer, beholder, umber hulk and displace beast. If Paizo can't use the proper ones ( *shacks fist at WotC* ) then create an equivilent.

3. More weird aberration type monsters.

4. No technological ones. This has never fitted well in D&D and it fits just as badly in PF.

Pathfinder can easily use the Mole-like Buggane as a replacer for the Umber Hulk, Buggane (if done right) is not only cooler than the umber hulk but also a much better creator of underground tunnels due to its mole herritage. Beholders can be replaced by Isitoq, Argus, Hyakume or Shoggoth, all eyeball monsters with more potentional than the boring beholder.

BTW: 4. No technological ones. This has never fitted well in D&D and it fits just as badly in PF. + 1 & BRAVO! Finally somebody who also doesn't like robots and who's not afraid to say it!.

Awesome! For my own RPG game this would be the upgrade for the normal Giant Dragonfly/Meganura or Demonfly. I call them Del Diablu tho, Caballucos makes the name a bit too long.

I also have found a new creature:

http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m9qo0wytOE1rdjsp2o1_500.jpg

The filth licker or Akaname is from asian mythology, it reminds me of a cool creature from Resident evil called licker with that humongous tongue! The possibilities with this creature are endless, and of course you can change it the way you want, I want to keep the long tongue, acid abilities and his need in filth, but the badroom part should be changed into sewers or something else OF COURSE.

EDIT: Also the Assassin Bug can be twisted into some evil vermin-type of creature, i've seen assassin bugs in action and they are nasty!

Based on developer comments, I think you are going to be disappointed concerning 1, 2, and 4.

There are several more anthrohumanoids that Paizo has stated they may stat up, although the only ones I remember are Inugami and Cynocephali

They have stated they have no interested in just redoing WOTC trademarks, especially at this point of time.

Also given the popularity of Numeria/Distant Worlds, I think we will see more "Science-fictionish" monsters.

And they lend themselves quite well to post-apocalyptic gaming- which my group, in particular, loves.

I say we can never have enough, but I'll settle for a better gnoll for use as a pc, and/or some wolffolk variant to the catfolk (funny since I'm a cat lover and gnolls and catfolk are my personal favs.)
