Clothing Weight

Rules Questions

I know that a character starts with a free set of clothing of 10 gp value or less but I seem to recall (quite possibly erroneously so) that the clothing one wears does not count towards encumbrance.

Of course, I cannot find said reference.

Does this ring any bells with anyone else?

The bells that it rings for me are all 3.5 bells, I don't think it made it into Pathfinder.

All weight counts towards your encumbrance. I believe what you are remembering comes from 2nd Edition most likely as I also recall a similar rule... which I can find no trace of in 3e based books.

all I can remember is this OOTS

Clothes do count for encumbrance in Pathfinder. 1 1/2years ago Jason Bulmann did clarify this in a thread that I had started. Too late here to search myself - but it has been clarified.

The free weight was D&D.

If you're worried about the encumbrance value of your PC's clothing then it's a pretty good sign you've dumped strength to much.

Just go ahead and dial it back up to eight.

Exactly, this is also why bags of holding HAVE a considerable weight.
