Could I get a temple/foo dog. Because I'm sorry a lion with the cesital templates just doesn't do it justice. Thank you

When I think of it, a carythid colum that could only move while no one is looking at it would make an effective guardian.

Yes. It's in Bestiary 3.

To be a complete pain in the butt, I'm adding one more thing to the Dracomorph I requested before.
Their behaviour is much like a Night Fury from How to Train your Dragon (movie)

Should the Force/Prismatic golem gain a bonus to Stealth (vs. hearing checks only for prismatics)? Because it should be difficult to hear the movement of force other than its effects on the surrounding physical matter. Or maybe it sounds like glass sliding on glass, or something else we have no word for?

How do we hear anything except by its effects on surrounding matter? Sound is essentially air being displaced by motion of some kind.

Well sure, but I was thinking in terms of pure force vs. clanking armor, jangling coins, flexing leather, etc...

@EpicMeepo: Both the force/prismatic and treasure golems gave me a "holy crap" moment which I so love when I am reading a new monster. Good Job !

Hello again, Epic Meepo. In keeping with my last two submissions, I'd like to see what you can do with these tidbits from the SCP Foundation.

SCP 217 - A virus that converts it victims into fully-functioning clockwork constructs capable of spreading their disease. Could work as a template.
http://www.scp-wiki.net/scp-217

SCP 477 - Animated fossils, most often of sea creatures, capable of swimming through the stony strata around them as if it were water.
http://www.scp-wiki.net/scp-477

SCP 553 - Crystaline butterflies of living limestone with razor-edged wings. Might make for a great underground swarm.

I imagine a force golem itself is silent, but every surface it touches groans in protest as the surface is subjected to unnatural shear and stress forces by virtue of the golem's mere presence.

And now, some more new monsters...

@Nepherti: Here is a Mayan guardian beast.

@Goth Guru: Here is an animal posing as a human.

@Azten: Here is an animal mimic.

@toastwolf: Here is a nanobot swarm.

Erik, sample Hengeyokai and template disagree about Intelligence score - template specificially states 6 while the sample shows 8 (which would match the PC hengeyokai with average Int score of 10 minus racial -2 penalty).

I would hope that shows species variance. A fox Hengeyokai would be smarter and stealthier than a squirrel hengeyokai which would be a better climber.

Goth Guru wrote:

Assuming that regular squirrel would have Climb movement mode then squirrel hegeyokai will have it as well - it retains all the abilities of the base animal with increased Int, increased minimum Str and gains ability shape change.

Fully humanoid hengeyokai do not gain such ability but each of them should be built separately or have a list of additional options based upon it's animal species.

unintentionally the gray goo gave me me stargate flashbacks, i think a fun variation on my zombie doomesday campaign will likely ensue.

Nope. Just a common typo. (Which has now been fixed. Thanks, Drejk.)

Foxes and squirrels have the same Int, so fox hengeyokai and squirrel hengeyokai also have the same Int (which is 8 when I bother to hit the correct number on my keyboard).

Thank you so much. The session I needed that beast for is actually tomorrow night! I was going to sub a pair of Brass Cats and put the Guardian in later, but now I can go with the original plan. Thanks so much!

How about a sentient equation or meme that can spread from host to host like a disease? I think it would almost have to function like a template.

I'll be back with some new monsters in the near future, but first...

I would like to thank everyone who helped make #30 Variant Dragons the #9 ranked product on Paizo's list of Top Downloads From Other Publishers last week.

I'm currently earning royalties on that product, so every sale directly supports my writing endeavors. And every purchaser gets to enjoy a PDF featuring thirty variant chromatic and metallic dragons. It's a win-win for everyone.

So a big thanks to all my readers. With your continued encouragement and support, I plan on writing even more new content in the future.

Sadly I can't allow myself to spare cash for it at the moment... Maybe in a few months time :(

Good luck and hopefully you will be able to make another successful product soon.

i want, want, want but i am poor and currently without money :(

ooh before i forget Forge Golem pretty please.

So, for this I am putting in a request for a somewhat complex monster.

An incorporeal undead, its physical appearance is that of a large size grotesque humanoid with arms that have severed hands. The hands float independently from the body and give this undead 20 foot reach in all directions as its hands can move that far from the actual body. Each hand wields a scimitar, and each hand can move independently.

Importantly, without True Seeing one cannot actually see the body, and attacking the hands does no damage to it. Because its incorporeal tremor sense will not detect its location and its hidden from detect undead.

Ideally this is in the CR 6-8 range. For now will just call it the "Unseen Spirit."

Detect magic or evil will only tell you what 5foot wide line they are on.
Without a ghost touch weapon there is still that 50% miss chance.

How about an "enchanting ooze" that works the opposite of a disenchanter? I.e., it causes objects it touches to gain random and mostly benign magical abilities (think rod of wonder but only one power each, or any one 0-level spell. The power would be usable maybe N times per day--roll 1d6 at creation). Unattended objects get no save but objects on a character's person use their save bonus, and SR applies. Items which cause damage to the ooze on contact (weapons, lit torches, etc) are not enchanted, nor are worn/carried items that are already magical.

The ooze would need to have a bunch of hit dice or have some other scary ability to discourage lower level characters from using an enchanting ooze to mass produce cheap magical items...

Originally the result of some exotic alchemical cocktail that got spilt on an otherwise ordinary something-or-other ooze being studied for an unrelated project. Since then, the ooze's owner has sold off buds from his pet enchanting ooze to chaos mages.

Enchanting ooze residue, if used in the creation of a rod of wonder, will infuse that rod with a single random metamagic feat so that all its effects will have that one feat applying automatically.

P.S. The first enchanting ooze probably came from a brain ooze (Bestiary 3). Not long after the first feral enchanting oozes appeared, the disenchanters (Tome of Horrors Complete) also came along and began "cleaning up" after the oozes' trail of magic items. It is possible the disenchanters were specifically bred for this purpose.

Huzzah! #30 Variant Dragons has moved up to #6 on Paizo's list of Top Downloads From Other Publishers.

In celebration, here are three new simple templates:

@xanthemann: Here is the illusory creature template for creating sentient illusions.

@hragas: Here is the hivemind creature template for melding various monsters into supermonster hiveminds.

@Matthew Shelton: Here is the spell-warding creature template for magic-averse beings of all shapes and sizes.

The fact that it eats people isn't enough of a drawback for you? :)

You don't need to do all of these or any of them, but I had some Daemon ideas that are missing from Canon. I'd make them myself, but the whole monster making thing escapes me on the math spectrum of things.

1) A Daemon that represents death from genetic degeneration and birth defects, often brought on by generations of inbreeding.
2) A Daemon that represents death from overeating and indulgent living
3) Death by predation
4) Electrocution
5) Fire
6) Dehydration
7) Radiation (I'm pretty sure that the

Spoiler:
Abysium found in the Shattered Star is not magical but a radioactive metal
, therefore it's time for a daemon that represents that)
8) Knowingly unjust execution (spawns from those who cause these deaths, rather than the victems themselves)

Well, a few extra weird, wild, and scary abilities couldn't hurt (no pun intended)

Badger; see special ability: Blood Rage

Versions of these monsters based on the Dark is Rising Sequence by Susan Cooper. Let me know if you need some more background for any of these, as the versions in these books vary somewhat from their more traditional folklore counterparts.

Greenwitch
Milgwn, including a suggestion for what version to use for the "king of the milgwn"
Mari Llwyd
Afanc
Herne the Hunter
Sleeper
Hound of Doom (from the Wild Hunt)
Brenin Llwyd

Ever since giants got transformed into humanoids, the idea of a CR 20 humanoid does not seem so far-fetched. But most of the CR 15-20 range in the official literature seems to be limited to dragons, outsiders, magical beasts, and aberrations.

So I would like to see some CR 20's of the creature types that you don't normally see at the high levels, such as a monstrous humanoid or an ooze.

A gargantuan humanoid would be called, a Goliath? You could have humanoid, fire, frost, and stony. You could call the stony one a mountain giant. The frost one a Glacier Giant. The fire one a Volcano Giant.

Just a heads up to everyone who's following this thread:

Expect my monster output to be slower than normal over the next few weeks.

I will be starting my playtest of the mythic rules in a few hours time, and will be running it straight through the duration of Pazio's official mythic playtest. I expect that my mythic campaign will occupy much of my free time, but will return to a faster pace of monster design when the playtest is over.

Hey! You can start designing mythic monsters as a part of the playtest!

EDIT: You got mythic playtest already? Turns around and screams to the others Get him! Get that file!

I haven't seen any mythic rules yet. It just happens that my playtest requires several weeks spent laying the non-mythic groundwork for whatever mythic rules get released in the near future.

Hey Epic Meepo, could you make a high goblin or goblin king? Sophisticated and urbane but with a cruel streak a mile wide. Fast and deadly with a high touch AC and spell like abilities or spell casting. Somewhere between CR 12 and 15? Thanks!

Sovereign Court

Hey Epic Meepo. I really like your work here, good flavorful monsters. I'm hoping you'll help me out too...

I've got a campaign set in a sort of Meso-American jungle/South American mountain setting. Think Aztecs, Mayas and Incas. My problem is there's not a great lot of appropriate monsters for it.

I've made it a bit worse maybe by throwing out most of the standard humanoid races (orcs, goblins, kobolds, gnomes, dwarves, elves, halflings) because I wanted to get things refreshed. I've made new races (lizard people, otter people, plant-humanoid people) which are working out pretty well though as PC races.

So I'm looking for
* Monsters. Particularly: some dragons (maybe feathered serpents?) with a more Aztec/Inca feel to them. I really liked the Imperial and Linnorm dragons, but they wouldn't be right here.
* Enemy humanoid races that are refreshingly different from the cliche races. Primarily for mountain and jungle terrains.
* Spirit-like beings; I thought Bestiary III did really well with the Asura, Oni, Kami and Rakshasas, but they're very eastern-themed. Ideally they should be in the single-digit CRs.

Whatever happened to the Deathless monster type? It was supposed to be the Good counterpart to the Undead type (as in, not alive in the sense of being mortal, but not exactly dead either). There are also no good-aligned undead either. However, for the sake of brevity in the rules one may as well realize this concept as a good-aligned undead. The closest the Bestiaries get, to my knowledge anyway, are Ghosts--but why leave it at that?

From the D&D Wiki, it looks like someone designed Deathless as a template for undead, which is one way of doing it. I had thought to have Deathless as a subtype of undead with all normal traits of undead save that they are normally good-aligned and that they respond to positive and negative energy as though they were ordinary living beings. (Sometimes the function of templates and subtypes can get a little blurred, but it is what it is.)

Anyway, my challenge is: after deciding on the rest of the details of the Deathless subtype, come up with two undead (deathless) type creatures, one corporeal and one incorporeal, the latter being definitely not a Ghost (even if it could be confused with such).

Of course, some would question the need for a template at all. The simplest solution for the GM is to change the alignment and behavior of the creature to suit their needs.

I personally go by the philosophy of undeath not necessarily undoing the moral fiber of the original creature, just straining it, consuming the weak-minded.

I've already got the details down on the phantom hitchhiker.
The don't know they are dead, so their conviction lets them form an illusionary body 75% real. Watch carnival of souls. Avenging them or burying their remains will turn them into petitioners. The point is they are not evil.
As for the Aztec campaign, you should consider jaguar men, many of which are shadow dancers. Also, the heartless undead. A subclass of revenants who did not volunteer for sacrifice. See my topic for rituals that include the blood sacrifice. Cutting out someones heart gives the bonus of their hit points +10(or more).
