Da Rules:

The Idea is to write a chapter in this scifi of 250 words or less. Our setting is a Space Age at the height of the Sumerian Civilization.

BOOK 1: NANNA

“The Constellations are as Watchtowers set against the Chaos of the Void.”

Prelude: The last tablet of my Memory:

Mardis of Sumer stared at the great engine that sat open and exposed in the Panaoptik Waste. Nanna y Mardis leaned against him; her bare naked scalp found an all too familiar location against his hard, aging form and she stared at the Tattoo marks of manhood that dominated his hands.
“Are you really going to the Moon, Father?” Yes. Mardis said it inward and then whispered the words in her ears.
“Yes, my daughter, I am going to the Moon.”
“What will you find there, Father?”
My Astronomers tell me it is as dry as the desert, pitted with the marks of water droplets across the surface.” NANNA is weeping.
Mardis of Sumer kissed the forehead of his child.

I am Mardis of Sumer.

Mardis of Sumer looked away from the great beast that would carry him into the chaos beyond and turned his head to look at the Moon.

And all that I survey is mine.

Chapter 1: The Unchained Beast:

First-Scribe Danak of Mardis of Sumer reached forward to open the seals in consecutive order.

“The first seal is broken!” The voice of Mardis of Sumer echoed forth from the Heliograph. The carbon beads vibrated in their box producing a scratchy sounding voice.
Mardis of Sumer could only watch in wonder as the controls powered on and current flowed from the Archive of Batteries somewhere deep beneath him.

The Astronomers of Mardis of Sumer were focused on the great distant beast as the voice of their lord echoed from the Heliograph.
“Second seal broken!” the words of Mardis of Sumer resonated with the roar of the lion.

“Third seal broken!” Astronomer Tulak of Mardis of Sumer activated the mechanical iris covering the Lens of his Telescope. “The eye is open.”
First scribe glanced momentarily at the oddly enlarged image of the engine that

“Fourth seal broken!” echoed the voice from the heliograph. First-scribe Danak of Mardis of Sumer watched as a small fire of embers sprayed from the base of the shackled beast.

“Fifth seal broken!” The Engine roared to full power and tugged at its restraints.

“Sixth Seal Broken!” The great chains separated unleashing the beast and it rider.

First-Scribe Danak of Mardis of Sumer waited his master’s call as Marduk’s fire pushed the beast and it’s rider into the chaos between worlds.
