Starting this thread to get discussion started on what events will be going on at NeonCon this first weekend in November. I am trying to decide if I should make the trip... and some sweet PFS events would help that decision.

NEONCON tends to run a heavy pfs schedule of 3 to 4 different scenarios per slot, with multiple tables per scenario.
I am sure that Issak, the LV venture captain, will be along soon to talk up the pfs goodness that will be NEONCON

Liberty's Edge 1/5

I am planning on going. It was awesome last year. Robyn ran an EXCELLENT game of Mists of Mwangi last year! Thank you Robyn!

Oh yeah. I went last year and had a great time.

I plan on returning.

I'll be there too... splitting my time between the NeoExodus release and PFS.

I'm coming back as well-- and bringing a friend this year.

Paizo Employee Director of Game Development

I'm not gonna make it this year, so you folks throw some dice for me in my absence. This convention is a blast. It's nice and small and there's always something fun to do.

Liberty's Edge 4/5

Well, that makes at least 2 VCs coming this year. Three if Robyn is coming back.

I believe Issak is still working on finalizing the scenario list. Not all sure yet what he is planning on having run.

Hopefully, we will have enough turn-out to run the new 5 table+ special. I do believe we had more than enough tables of the Year of the Shadow Lodge special last year to cover the 5 table minimum. And my thanks, yet agaion, to JP for running it for my table, even if he did have to suffer the naked Taldan trebuchet (obviously not me, and I channeled to save the innocent lion, not the Taldan!).

Liberty's Edge 5/5

Definitely looking forward to this!

I am coming out again this year, and looking forward to it.

Would it be possbile to offer the Pathfinder Society Sanctioned Modules:

"Cult of the Ebon Destroyers" and/or "The Harrowing"?

Would love to see either!

Having played a few Modules, I would recommend against that. Those should be played without the time constraints found at cons.

I understand where you are coming from. If they were to be offered they should obviously be spread over more than one slot.

At our latest con Gateway 2011 we ran Godsmouth heresy over multiple slots and players had a very good time playing the scenarios. Godsmouth only needed two slots (8 to 10 hours) to complete, so worked very well for the con.

And Yes, I will be returning to Neoncon, it is my relaxation con (since I am not responsible for it :) )

Robyn

So curious about this Con, but can't find much info on how registration works on their website. Will PFS games be on Warhorn, or with tickets to slots like at Gencon? Or something else entirely?

Sovereign Court 3/5

Holy Wowziers. I totally didn't even see this thread.
I have come up with what I think will be an impressive schedule of events and that should be up on the NeonCon.com Web site very soon. All eight of the Season Three modules will be featured (the last two will be out the last week of October). The Intro's will have a couple sessions, as well as a good selection of Season Two modules. A couple Season One modules and a couple sessions set aside for Classic Play. It's an aggressive setup and I need GM's. I think we'll have an average of 10 sessions per slot, with 9-10 slots. Saturday evening will feature Blood Under Absalom and I know it was a blast at GenCon so I anticipate a good collection of mayhem during that feature.
I'm also considering, and would like some thoughts on a Las Vegas Lodge Breakfast Sunday morning. Last year we had a Venture-Captain's breakfast that was open to everybody. I know Robyn has pictures of me not following my diet and J.P. wrote some French gibberish with his pancake syrup. This would be a bigger thing, not just a 6am breakfast at the buffet at Luxor. I think this would be more 'official' and open for all NeonCon attendees. Nothing going on, just an opportunity for everybody to meet other attendees in a setting other than killing and maiming each other with dice and axes. This way you would be able to go "Oh, no way would I have expected Adam Daigle* to be able to eat 8 bagels in one sitting."
* Adam won't be there and if he ate 8 bagels he'd triple in weight.

I'll follow this and other threads much more closely. If you have thoughts as to where else we should post announcements for players and GM's please let me know. I know lots of areas around the Web, but I'm sure you know of other areas.
Please feel free to e-mail me at my official PFS e-mail (PFS Theocrat Gmail) no spaces and an at symbol before gmail with ideas and questions.

See you November 3,
Theocrat Issak

Requesting Eyes of the Freakin' Ten.

I would like to see if it will get enough players to go off. If it doesn't, we can remove it from the Warhorn.

How about Part One on Saturday 9-5 (whatever the first 2 slots are) and the other 3 parts on Sunday? I guess that also depends on how many slots/long you're going to want to run the GenCon special Saturday night. It's long if you don't cut it a bit...but can be run in 4 hours with some adjustments.

Thanks.

Sovereign Court 3/5

I did not offer Eyes of the Ten because of it's length at 8hrs and it having 4 total modules in the series. If I offer it, it has to take 2 5hr slots and would have to sign up for both sessions.
But if you will run it and think you can get 4 players (or if playing know of a GM in mind) then I don't see why I shouldn't list it.

Liberty's Edge 5/5 **

Off the top of my head I know Perry Snow is a great DM and I'd love to get him to run all four sessions for myself and Painlord (along with whoever else can come along for the ride).

Drinks are on me Perry!

I just saw that the Living Forgotten Realms schedule for NeonCon had appeared on Warhorn. Any chance the PFS schedule will soon follow suit?

Sovereign Court 3/5

Perry is an excellent GM and he was the '4e/Alt.System GM' MVP. I am unsure if he is planning on running any PFS for me at NeonCon just yet - as he may be doing just 4e or something else.
I've got my events - I'll be sending out my request for GM's shortly, this weekend. Heck, I'm at the bar with the EVOL WifeFIEND typing this up on my netbook working on the e-mail right now (well, posting to this thread). I am under the impression we're hoping to use the NeonCon site and not Warhorn, but I'll know for sure this weekend and have that setup in one way or another.
For the PFS Events - they are 5hr slots and the below is the open schedule. I'm hoping for 10 tables per session with 12 on Saturday night. Saturday during the 2nd session of the day (session 7) may have a few less options with Iron GM expected to take a few GM's/Players. If there are special requests I'm open to them - as well as the potential for a change in modules if need be due to some oversight on my part (i.e. I missed offering part of a series).

The sessions are:
Thursday 01 - 1300 - 1800
Thursday 02 - 1900 - 0000
Friday 03 - 0800 - 1300
Friday 04 - 1300 - 1900
Friday 05 - 2000 - 0100
Saturday 06 - 0800 - 1300
Saturday 07 - 1300 - 1900
Saturday 08 - 2000 - 0100
Sunday 09 - 0700 - 0900
Sunday 09b -1000 - 1500

Session 09 - is a 2hr session for BREAKFAST WITH NEONCON. I haven't worked it out yet, but that's what it will be. If it's just me and Robyn at breakfast, then it's just us!

I'm on FB at /issak in case you didn't know as well as on the PFS Facebook group, and likely a few others. So you should be able to get in touch with me.

Liberty's Edge 5/5 **

I've got at least two more people committed to the Eyes of the Ten if you can get us a judge Issak.

Liberty's Edge 1/5

Depending on when Eyes of the Ten is run, I am game too. How about Part 1 on Thursday (both slots), Part 2 and 3 on Friday (morning and afternoon), then Part 4 on Saturday morning?

Looking forward to seeing the line up for PFS.

Liberty's Edge 5/5 **

Isaac any word on adding Eyes of the Ten to the schedule? There will be a table of players I can make it happen personally if I have to. All you need to do is get us a judge (Perry my offer still stands) and make it happen.

I'd like to sign up for my events now but I'm going to leave things open until I know for sure one way or the other.

Or were you involved in the "Snow Bird and the Seven Dwarves" skit for the Cult of Loviatar? Or partaking in the Feast of Eggs? Or saving the city of the Dwarves from the poisoned ale? Or preventing the return of a long lost psychotic lover that I represented with a miniature of a gargantuan blue dragon? Or the magic carpet ride?

NeonCon 2010 was kind of a blur for me...

You've run a few mods for me over the past few years dating back to the early days of Neoncon back in LG.

In 2010 you ran an LFR mod for me and some friends. The mod itself was unmemorable (most LFR mods are) but I remember it being a great time and wishing you had run more of my games over the weekend.

Kick Isaac into gear and get him to put Eyes of the Ten up for us!

At this point the interface only allows you to sign up to play; if you want to DM you will need to go through Issak.

Still would prefer a Warhorn. I find the Neoncon system less desirable for truly understanding how I can best coordinate my gaming and my judging.

Warhorn's also much more forgiving. Especially for idiots like me who accidentally register for multiple events in the same slot and then have to beg others to fix it.

- Sarta (Will from Fresno)

Hmm. I can't see who else is playing in the slot, I can't see what classes are playing, and I can't automatically unregister. Warhorn is an order of magnitude better.

Sovereign Court 3/5

I can't do anything about the scheduling on NeonCon or Warhorn.
Such as it is.
I'm working on the events we have listed officially before I can do something for Eyes Of the Ten. I'm not opposed to it, but right now I have about 10 slots filled and need 80 more (or so). Deal: I get EotT listed and you run at least 2 events for me (ad EotT doesn't count!).
Give me the GM's info as well as the players info (name, PFS#, email, cell, etc..) and I'll add them to my list. If their on my list it's on there even if it's not yet on NeonCon's site - it might take a couple days for me to adjust my notes and get them to Mike and him to adjust the site.

I need more GM's so please send me an e-mail and I'll get my spiel out and get the information so that I can get this and other games listed. I'd also appreciate it if 'you' ran four games and had three of your friends run four games and three of them run four more games and then I'd be happy and set. 'You' Being All Of You!

Are you guys wanting me to list the games and modules from my spread sheet to this forum post as well? Or is using NeonCon OK to view slots?

Sorry, I'm confuzzled. Not sure why you're locked out of Warhorn.

Is the problem that you've already agreed to use the NeonCon scheduling system? And we're stuck with it? I'm pretty sure we can move over the names from NeonCon to a Warhorn manually for those few who have already signed up.

Deal.

I'll judge two slots (of my choosing) if you put Eyes of the Ten on the schedule. I make no promises for my friends, although in all likelihood at least one of them will be judging as well. Put Eyes of the Ten on the schedule first and I'll contact you with what slots/mods I'll run.

Perry are you on board?

I'm always happy to judge.

I would nominate Richard B or myself, actually. That way one of us, with the 10th level PCs already, can just run it straight into retirement, and have one of our secondary PCs ready to play when we get that far. My secondary is 7th level already....

Marty
Callarek the Archer (10th, 2 XP to 11th)
Kinevon the Tripper (7th, 1 XP to 8th)
Louis the Musketeer (4th, 2 XP to 5th)
1st & 2nd - too many to mention

I have already verbally volunteered to run for Issak at NeonCon already, and I need to know what I will be running so I can update my registrations for what I am playing...

Pain,

Issak mentioned earlier in the thread that having dual registration (Warhorn and the Neoncon event registration) caused problems last year with too many players and not enough GMs (ie double booked tables), so he is trying to alleviate that problem this year, by request of the convention owners, and only use the Neoncon system for event registration.

Like you I prefer the Warhorn registration, as I believe it if more robust than most con event registrations, plus you get to see who you are playing with (Both GM or player composition), but given that this is Issak's first big con, I will leave it to his judgment and let him deal with the local politics.

I am going to PLAY!!!

:)

Any word on getting Eyes of Ten added to the schedule?

Some of us are holding off on booking our hotel and flight until we know for sure. Also, I can't build my judging schedule until I know what slots I'm playing. These things only get more bothersome the longer they take.

Sovereign Court 3/5

I did say that it might take a me a couple days to get it on the list at NeonCon.com.
I don't work for the Con on Sunday's anymore - I don't even turn on my netbook or look at much besides football and my mini's. I run or attempted to run PFS on Saturday night and then watched the fight. So I knew it wouldn't be until tonight before I even looked at the spreadsheet before finding the spots. So they will be on my spreadsheet before on the site for registering.
Most importantly, I wanted to know when the table would be set - since it will have to take up two slots just for the first module. I haven't looked at the rest to know what their lengths are. Additionally, I did ask for an e-mail from whomever would run it so that I could put it on the list - along with the players so that I could get that to Mike as well.
1) What time slot for EotT do you want?
2) Who is going to be the listed GM?
3) Who is set to be the four people at the table (minimum) - then from there I'll either have the two last slots filled from people here or if it is able to be opened I'll have it listed on the site.
4) Don't hold off on booking your hotel and flights. Other than you guys telling me when you'd like to have this game set up, I'm open.

For Blood Under Absalom I n eed GM's. There also won't be any other modules played during that slot. I realize that if someone has already played it, that means they're either GMing it or playing that other game.
Please feel free to register to play any game and if 'you' end up running in that slot we'll get it sorted out.

Nick, Rand & Company,

We've got some judges set up to run the "Eyes of the Ten" retirement arc for you. You've always been good the show, so we are happy to help you guys out. Part of the challenge, as I am sure you realize, is that as high level mods, we really need skilled judges to run those slots.

For that reason, I cannot imagine we'll run more than one "group" for this arc. That group can change as needed, but expect one session of each EotT scenario and no more, at least to start. I'll leave it up to you guys to set the players for the group.

When we have all other slots (especially for lower tier & newer adventures) covered, we'll explore another EotT group, if there is interest.

Thanks for stepping up to GM other slots for us in return. And, thanks for your patience as we sorted this out. Both are genuinely appreciated.

More info as I have it.

Thanks,

Doug

Liberty's Edge 5/5 **

Thanks Doug. We'll get our judging schedule to Issak ASAP.

Sovereign Court 3/5

I was working on the schedule of events just moments ago.
I have a couple GM's that have offered to run games that I think might be most excellent - but I've not yet confirmed that they'd be willing to do all of them. I suppose the preferred attempt would be to have the same GM for all five scenarios. If that's not the case how would you guys like to handle that? Which ones are most important regarding the scenarios?
Painlord and I have discussed how best to implement this and the other scenarios. I do suspect however that Doug will have someone post further information regarding this and the rest of the events.
Look forward to seeing you and the Galtan's secure the area.

Nick, Rand, JP & EotT Crew,

How does the following sound for an EotT schedule? I have to confirm with the judges, so this is not written in stone just yet.

THU - Slots 1 & 2 (2PM- 1AM)
****************************************
SLOT 1: PSS 1-46: Eyes of the Ten—Part I: Requiem for the Red Raven (R1)
SLOT 2: PSS 1-46: Eyes of the Ten—Part I: Requiem for the Red Raven (R2)

FRI - Slots 3 & 4 (8AM- 7PM)
****************************************
SLOT 3: PSS 1-54: Eyes of the Ten—Part II: The Maze of the Open Road
SLOT 4: PSS 2-05: Eyes of the Ten—Part III: Red Revolution

SUN - Slot 7 (10AM- ???)
****************************************
SLOT 7: PSS 2-22: Eyes of the Ten—Part IV: Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained

This schedule would really help us out by having you guys available to judge FRI night & SAT, when we will have the most need for GMs.

Thanks,

Doug

Liberty's Edge 5/5 **

That's doable Doug.

I'll talk to the team, get the judging sorted out, and email you the plan.

The Exchange 1/5

All,

I wanted to take a second to address the Warhorn vs. NeonCon.com scheduling issue for the group.

In a nutshell, we moved everything into the NeonCon scheduling system because we have a lot of folks crossing over between the various gaming genres (RPG, Board Games & Minis). Warhorn is pretty solid for showing/scheduling RPG organized play because they fit into nice, neat slots. However, it is a nightmare to get anything other than 4 or 5 hour slots to look/work right in Warhorn. And, since we run PS & LFR and the slots don't line up, we can't use it for just the OP systems either. The only solution is to run 2-3 separate Warhorn instances for each "meta-track" (PS, LFR, Board Games, etc.). It gets ugly ... fast.

Trust me, we've tried a every possible permutation over the years. :) Multiple schedules in multiple places just causes confusion and frustration for everyone, but mostly for the attendees as it ends up gumming up table musters.

By the way, the guys at Warhorn have been great in trying to accomodate us. But, they have limited budget/resources just as we do.

So, as an answer, we started building our own system. I'll be the first person to admit it is not perfect, but it does give both the organizers (us) and the players (you) a single place to see the whole schedule. The schedule software is locked for 2011, so don't expect wholesale changes before the show.

With that said, I'd love to hear your ideas for improvements to our system. I'll set up a forum on the show site for that discussion. Once we have something more solid, we plan to release the system for free to the public to help other shows run more easily.

Thanks,

Doug

The Exchange 5/5

Doug,
I cannot make Sunday (flight leaving early on Sunday). But the rest is fine. I was due to play Overseer GM for "Blood under Absalom" whenever it was running.
