This is the discussion thread for three campaigns:
Greetings fellow Pathfinders! A slight change in plan as I have discovered that there are three free modules for 1st level characters released in Season 3. Therefore, I intend to run these as a trio first so we can quickly get up to level 2. This will replace the intended Frostfur Captives which we will run at a later date. Use this thread to brainstorm on the characters that we shall play. Personally, my own character will most likely be some form of arcanist, potentially a Magus. While we brainstorm, I suggest that we introduce ourselves. My name is John, I am 28 years old, married with a six week old daughter. I work in information management. My main hobbies are Pathfinder, Magic the Gathering and playing in the Nuts Poker League. I've been actively roleplaying for the past three years or so, although I used to play AD&D when I was much younger.
Just to myself, my name is Peter, 42 years old, married, with 3 kids working at the university. Roleplaying - Mondays, so anyone from the area welcome to join, PFS, and a lot online. I thought playing my gnome oracle, but he just finished Mists of Mwangi, so need another one. Thinking of a halfing paladin, but not entirely sure yet.
Legal 1st level Scenarios as of 1st September 2011
Season 1
Season 2
Season 3
These do not include the three intro scenarios that I will run to get everyone up to at least level 2. It will also allow us to get used to the new lodges that CH and I have not played with yet. So, can everyone list any of the scenarios above that you have played? I notice that with season 3, there are now modules which start at level 3 so we'll have a little bit more leeway and choice at that point. I'll update this list as we cross tiers or when I become aware that a module has been retired.
Scenarios I haven't played, just editing Nostrus ones further down.. Season 1
Season 2
Season 3
Hi, I'm Paul 54 yrs old at the last count...but it gets hazier with the days...Have 2 children, my daughter has just graduated and is kind of leaving home and living with boyfriend. An interesting time, she's still keeping the nest here just in case. My son just did his 'A' levels, and has an apprenticeship lined up. My wife is a teacher and thinks RPG is nuts and wonders why the hell I do it. Me I work in 'IT', play with a group in Portsmouth on Thursday nights, mainly AD&D, trying to ween them onto Pathfinder, but they don't like anything after 2.5...or even after 2nd edition...Me I love Pathfinder. I'm about to DM Morrick Mansion with the Thursday night group as the reserve game, (when the other Pathfinder game with another GM is not being played). I play other games and sometimes GM Pathfinder games at the Tuesday night group...I hope to GM LoF chapter 3, The Jackal's Price in their next session. Also DM'd until it got a bit much a pbp here, which was going well until I tried to bite off more than I could chew...but that experience should be good to GM a society game here. This will be my first society game (so any scenario is good), and have created the numbers for a Taldorian Human Paladin, but quite willing to try something else. Currently running a couple of clerics, a wizard, a fighter and a witch in some pbp games here. So I'm easy on the class I play ... so can easily go for a ranger or maybe even a cavalier. Oh, planted the seeds to attend PaizoCon next year too.... provided it doesn't clash with a holiday that my wife is insisting we take. She's a teacher, so can only go in the school holidays.
Seems so, but only after the mayhem at university until November. Depends how fast we get through the first step series. PbP varies largely. Just went through Mists in a week (and yes by PbP), whereas others take 2-3 months to complete. As we are all making new characters, we should decide in who plays what, and then also maybe help in creating them, others might have good ideas too. Btw., half-orc ninja would also suit me.
Potential Group Choices
That leaves Cal and CrazyHedghog to make their particular character choices. With a round robin GM choice, hybrids can now become more useful but we'll also have ready access to potions, etc. We'll use the OOC thread for tracking expenditure between adventures. I will plan on writing out Chronicles for the games I GM, which I will then scan and email to everyone to include with their characters as these will be checked at PaizoCon 2012 or indeed any other real life Society game you take the characters along to.
This is the list of those I've not played, minus those played by PeteZero: Season 1
Season 2
Season 3
I'm thinking of going with a Numerian flavoured witch for a character. Do you know if the First Steps trilogy begins with the characters already members of the Society? The background I've got in mind involves having been an initiate at the Grand Lodge, but it can be tweaked to fit without too much difficulty.
This looks like it's turning out to be an interesting group! Will be fun to see how the ninja and paladin get along :). All the character classes are fun, so happy to fill whatever gaps we might have in the group. As it is, at the moment I'm swithering between a dwarf monk or a druid, perhaps an animal shaman. To introduce myself, my name is Nick, I'm 34 married with one daughter and another tyke due any time now, so forgive me if my posts become minimal at some point. PbP games are fun, was in a Forgotten Realms game that ran for a couple years (can't remember the name of the website, but might even be running still) and another ran by the same DM that was set in Eberron, both games were great fun, looking forward to this.
First Steps does indeed begin with the characters being members of the Society, although you do not have to choose a faction until the third part is complete. Through the three adventures, you complete tasks for all ten factions and can then choose both a faction and corresponding trait as well as all of the awarded prestige points. So, likely list of group composition:
It looks as though we'll be limited in scenario choice as I believe you are unable to gain a player credit for a replayed scenario, and can only gain another credit by GMing the scenario.
So I have just realised that the First Steps arc can only be run by 1st level characters which means all of us will need to ensure we have brand new characters so that none of us jump up a level mid-arc. Also from what I can see, the prestige from this arc is awarded at the end of the arc, which annoyingly means no Wand of Cure Light Wounds until then, although that will be handy for my character as that means the first module we run after the First Steps arc, I can rock up with a CLW wand with 50 charges.
I don't have the Field Guide yet either, but I wil be buying the PDF when I can. I've got SoS though. From what I've seen, Pete, you only select your faction at the end of the arc which is why you can only spend the prestige then. I don't think it is a major issue to be honest, as the modules are fairly straightforward from what I've seen.
So, will try to get something sorted soon - still undecided between halfling (shuriken thrower) or half-orc - able to set up sneak attack himself later on. Leaning a bit towards halfling though. @Deevor - I would suggest we all copy and paste your format for characters if you don't mind? Helps, and all look the same.
Over the weekend, I should have Erik Wintersong crafted and ready to go although he won't be in play for a few weeks. He's a Savage Skald, wielding a greataxe and usually seen wading into the thick of things. I am going to focus on healing spells and spells that are seen as 'shout' attacks, such as Ear-Piercing Scream which will be primarily used as a finisher on fleeing foes. Otherwise, he will focus on ringing heads with his weapon of choice. He might tout a crossbow later on, we'll see how things progress.
Started putting together my character concepts last night. Annoyingly, instead of being able to settle on one character I kept going back and forth between 4 concepts I think would be fun to try: Dwarf monk
Since I'm having trouble deciding, I think it will come down to a random decision - so, your colleague is going to be (rolls dice)... Crar, half-elf eagle shaman (druid) from the lands of the Mammoth Lords! I'll try to finish up the stats then later on tonight. I'll try to copy Deevor's character format and works something up on the same lines.
Once our characters are complete, I will transpose them to Hero Lab to give us nice, clean character sheets to use for our records. I have almost everything on HL aside from the companion packages so I can deal with pretty much anything. I should be completely up to date next month anyway, as well as grabbing the Field Guide. Do we think we'll be ready to start on Monday?
Ok, so I think I've completed Crar: Full Name Crar
--------------------
Since becoming a shaman, Crar continues to wander the face of Golarion. He travels, looking for information about how to access the Elemental Plane of Air, the ultimate place to fly. In the meantime, in his travels he has fallen in with the Pathfinder Society, and has found kinship with fellow Pathfinders. Hopefully the stats will match up with HeroLab ok. I'll be away for the weekend but should be back sometime Sunday evening, so should be ok to start then.

I think I know you, Thod. Did you bring the Dwarven Forge model of the Blakros Museum?I didn't play at that table, but I admired it from afar.
Hi everyone Not sure I get selected due to late entry - but lets introduce myself anyhow. I'm 45 and father of a son - 10 and a daughter 8 who both have their own characters and played at Games Expo in Birmingham. My wife actually has more games played - that's because I'm more of a GM. I'm currently planning for my third star in PFS with 1 1/2 to go. This might happen with a special game this weekend. I did start playing PFS in September 2009 and shortly afterwards started to organize PFS games at Dragonmeet. I've been a GM at both PaizoCon 2010 (3 slots) and 2011 (5 slots). I played/GMed most of the low level season 1 and 2 (shades of Ice Part 3 and a part 2 from a season 1 missing) games but would be keen to play the entry scenario arc prior to GM it locally or at conventions. I would be more than happy to GM then and move into gaming with season 3 scenarios. Thod

Yes - the 3D terrain that is me. I still need to experiment how to better use it for PBP. I did some photos for my PBP campaign but it took me too long to do this for individual posts.
Go to your main account (not the PC profile).
This will state if you have any PF Society registered PCs.
Go down the list, to the PC you want, click 'edit', and it should take you to a page where you can select timezone, change name (if you've posted less than 10 times), select faction, and avatar. This is different from the 'edit' you go into from the aliases profile, which is where you write their stats and history. Any help?
Two more is fine with me. Thod, CrazyH and I played at your table for a scenario and the kick off of the second season. The two defining moments I recall was our wizard overcoming the SR on the dragon that was attacking in our tier 1 table an fatiguing it for a round, and me killing a goblin by grabbing a barrel of beer and throwing it over it's head.
@Thod: I remember you Thod, really enjoyed playing in your games at PaizoConUK last year, and your dwarven forge settings totally rocked. @Snorter: Thanks for the advice, that really helped. So, Nostrus, how will it work, will we be playing the game on this thread, or will this be for OOC?
My plan is that we'll use this as a hub for the lodge, branching out into proper in-game threads for the scenarios. We'll use this thread for scenario summaries after a scenario is completed as well as tracking purchases between scenarios. GMs will also be expected to link to the Chronicle sheets so that the players can print them out and include them in their records. I expect to get First Steps started by the end of the week, so expect a link to the game thread soon but probably not today as I have two three-hour long meetings and a poker game to attend to, it's a tough life ;) Oh, I thought I would warn you: there seems to be a flu-like virus running around up here. Hits you like a freight train for two to three days and then tapers out. Seems to be running rampant everywhere. G and her sister got hit hard, as did our niece. I am strong like ox though, so I got to play nursemaid yesterday ;)

Yes - I remember both incidences. The goblin killed by a barrel was completely off script as every other group did fight them in the arena. Only my group had to leave for a drink ahead ... Josh laughed about it afterwards when he heard that. And the spell on the dragon was epic. Just a shame you got let down by the high tier tables and they didn't take advantage but rather cowardly avoided the dragon. I will make a character and hope to post later tonight. One player canceled for tonight - so no GM duties (moved to tomorrow). And with some luck I might get some special players traveling up to my place Saturday for a special game - my third star. But I should be less busy after the weekend.
Looking at choices of other players I contemplate an elf or half-elf ranger. Sorcerer could be an alternative. I try to have different races / classes. And witch and Druid are already taken and I do have a cleric as another character. Let me know any objections - otherwise I should stat him/her out later today. Thod
