I have never been one to prescribe a playstyle or character choice based upon perceived gaps in the party make up. From my point of view, play what you want to play and hang the consequences! Does it mean the party could be sub-optimal? Yes. Could it make for an epic TPK or epic win? Absolutely!
Also congrats on the 3-star GM!
Just thinking that we should name the lodge. Any ideas?

Nevis Lodge sounds good to me. I have my own down here - Sunrise Lodge UK, the place where the sun first rises in the UK. So something more northern is very appropriate.
I did some reading for the ranger options and will try to post later today. A few options are still open as Advanced Player Guide and Ultimate Combat offer additional options. But I'm close to finalise my decisions.

I've been working on a character concept. An Elven Urban Ranger.
Having the Elven race companion I build a background around the trait Lapsed Faith only to figure out when transferring it to HeroLab that it's disallowed ...
I'm also dithering with the weapon choice - liking a curved elven blade as main weapon but that doesn't work with the basic weapon styles.
To cut it short - I'm working on it and can have him finalized in 10 minutes if needed but right now I still contemplate details and to make him overall fitting like I want him to be.
It is interesting how one decision gets you to the next. I likely will go with the background anyhow as it led me to the faction he is taking.
So just give a deadline and I will post his final build. Until then I will 'refine' him.
Latharel the Lost |
Latharel ready now.
Short background
He is the son of a Desnan High priest from Kyonin. But instead of following his mother to priesthood he fall in love for a Varisian woman - member of the Szarni.
He followed her around - but the life span of the humans unfortunately is short. Now that his beloved wife died in Absalom he seems without a goal, without a focus.
Turning back to the Elves seems not an option.

No issue from me!
Map of Absalom complete with colour coded districts.
Let me know if I'm proceeding too quickly for you guys.

I think the pace is fine so far, and thanks for the map! Nostrus, I think Laura and I have gotten your demon cold. No fun!
Also, has Ollysta already given us directions to the orphanage? Which ward is it in? Don't know about everyone else, but looking at the map gave me a couple ideas about what order we might want to tackle the other tasks. Of course, we should see how we get on with this job first.
@ PeteZero: I think 2 weeks for finishing any adventure by PbP is amazing, well done. I think the best PbP games I was in in the past took about four months each to go through some of the old Dungeon magazine adventures. Were you playing or DMing?
PeteZero |
I wasn't the GM, but he ran it fabulous. No clue, if I would be able to match it. 2 weeks for everything, incl. getting the PCs done - in total 9 days, from first GM post to day job rolls. GM rolled initiatrive and all saves, which kept the flow going quite fast.
5 months for Cult of the Ebon Destroyer. Btw., can you get GM credit for that only once or a couple of times? If a couple of times I would have no problems to run it at one point, if only once I would hesitate (as I will run it for my group up here in Aberdeen).
Deevor |
Just thought I'd bung a party overview here being as we've been training together:
.
.
.
Player:Character:Race and Class
Deevor : Kernsten : Human Paladin
Calixymenthillian : Lillia Stetven : Human Witch
Crazy Hedgehog : Crar : Half-Elf Druid
Thod : Latharel the Lost : Elf Ranger
Pete who? : Targ Boneslicer : Half-Orc Ninja
Hope that's all OK and doesn't break any Society rules ...
If I missed someone, then please redo list.

It seems a few people are waiting but nobody posts.
Latharel waits for either an attack on the imp or an attack of the imp. Anyone let me know if I just should roll a dice to help/assist Kernsten.
Might be good if the GM posts to ensure it moves on. Even if he just asks x and y to do whatever he thinks they should do next.
The invisibility seems to paralyze the group as it breaks the flow of a normal initiative and lets people to wait that something happens / someone makes something happen.

My posting might be sporadic over the next few weeks, though will post as often as I can. Don't let me hold up the group, feel free to NPC Crar if need be. Though if he dies, his ghost will come back to haunt ya! :)
I'll try to at least give an indication of what his plans/tactics are when I post, so hopefully if someone needs to NPC him they'll know what he intends to do.
What do you think is inside the box?

Yeah sorry folks, the lethargic pace has been my fault but I've been crazy busy this week so this is the first time I'm getting to post.
I'll be making an update post tonight following a trip to the cinema and I'll also try and keep things moving over the weekend. Next week should be back to service as usual!

Sorry, not going, all the Cons should take place far more in the north....
I'm sure you meant far more in the South.
Coming from the leader of the Sunrise Lodge UK - we guard that the sun rises every day and therefore have located ourselves exactly where the first rays of the morning sun reach this island.
PeteZero |
No, just north - Scotland is a beautiful place.

GM
How much more should we expect in this adventure?
I could introduce some new players at the local club next week Tuesday. First Stps would be a great adventure to do this as my co-GM also hasn't played it yet and I like him around if I need another player.
But if there are sunrises to come then I will need to wait a little longer.
