I have never been one to prescribe a playstyle or character choice based upon perceived gaps in the party make up. From my point of view, play what you want to play and hang the consequences! Does it mean the party could be sub-optimal? Yes. Could it make for an epic TPK or epic win? Absolutely!

Also congrats on the 3-star GM!

Just thinking that we should name the lodge. Any ideas?

Being as your guy from the North started this whole thing, I was kinda thinking the lodge should have a name associated with Scotland, like Nevis Lodge .... Capercaille Lodge ... or something with a Scottish heritage. I'm not so worried, just something easy to spell and remember...

M almost human

Esp., as there a lot Scots in here. Nevis Lodge sounds fine.

Grand Lodge

Nevis Lodge sounds good to me. I have my own down here - Sunrise Lodge UK, the place where the sun first rises in the UK. So something more northern is very appropriate.

I did some reading for the ranger options and will try to post later today. A few options are still open as Advanced Player Guide and Ultimate Combat offer additional options. But I'm close to finalise my decisions.

Thod

The Exchange

Nevis Lodge - I like it!

Grand Lodge

I've been working on a character concept. An Elven Urban Ranger.

Having the Elven race companion I build a background around the trait Lapsed Faith only to figure out when transferring it to HeroLab that it's disallowed ...

I'm also dithering with the weapon choice - liking a curved elven blade as main weapon but that doesn't work with the basic weapon styles.

To cut it short - I'm working on it and can have him finalized in 10 minutes if needed but right now I still contemplate details and to make him overall fitting like I want him to be.

It is interesting how one decision gets you to the next. I likely will go with the background anyhow as it led me to the faction he is taking.

So just give a deadline and I will post his final build. Until then I will 'refine' him.

Made some changes to Thavo, any opinion on swift as shadows? Could be worth the trade-off with the +2 to acrobtics and climb.

Sorry for not posting the introductory thread, been ou of action for a few days due to illness. I should get things started at lunch (four hours from now) but it will mainly be roleplaying so no need to lock the characters down until you need to make a skill check.

I'm happy with Nevis Lodge. You can find the link to the in-game thread for First Steps, Part 1 - In Service to Lore here.

Made a few changes to feats to Kernsten, as I realized I needed to read them carefully first...but once I start he'll be stabilized and ready...

The Exchange

Is there a map of Absalom anywhere handy, that we can see where these locations are in relation to the Lodge?

Sczarni

Ranger 1 10/11 HP

Latharel ready now.

Short background

He is the son of a Desnan High priest from Kyonin. But instead of following his mother to priesthood he fall in love for a Varisian woman - member of the Szarni.
He followed her around - but the life span of the humans unfortunately is short. Now that his beloved wife died in Absalom he seems without a goal, without a focus.
Turning back to the Elves seems not an option.

M almost human

Sorry, but couldn't really see a halfling ninja being that effetive, hope you don't mind him being a half-orc instead - and no more changes ;)

No issue from me!

Map of Absalom complete with colour coded districts.

Let me know if I'm proceeding too quickly for you guys.

M almost human

No issues from my side - will see if you will break my record - 2 weeks for Mists of Mwangi as PbP...

The Exchange

I think the pace is fine so far, and thanks for the map! Nostrus, I think Laura and I have gotten your demon cold. No fun!

Also, has Ollysta already given us directions to the orphanage? Which ward is it in? Don't know about everyone else, but looking at the map gave me a couple ideas about what order we might want to tackle the other tasks. Of course, we should see how we get on with this job first.

@ PeteZero: I think 2 weeks for finishing any adventure by PbP is amazing, well done. I think the best PbP games I was in in the past took about four months each to go through some of the old Dungeon magazine adventures. Were you playing or DMing?

M almost human

I wasn't the GM, but he ran it fabulous. No clue, if I would be able to match it. 2 weeks for everything, incl. getting the PCs done - in total 9 days, from first GM post to day job rolls. GM rolled initiatrive and all saves, which kept the flow going quite fast.
5 months for Cult of the Ebon Destroyer. Btw., can you get GM credit for that only once or a couple of times? If a couple of times I would have no problems to run it at one point, if only once I would hesitate (as I will run it for my group up here in Aberdeen).

Just thought I'd bung a party overview here being as we've been training together:
.
.
.

Player:Character:Race and Class

Deevor : Kernsten : Human Paladin
Calixymenthillian : Lillia Stetven : Human Witch
Crazy Hedgehog : Crar : Half-Elf Druid
Thod : Latharel the Lost : Elf Ranger
Pete who? : Targ Boneslicer : Half-Orc Ninja

Hope that's all OK and doesn't break any Society rules ...
If I missed someone, then please redo list.

M almost human

Nice composition, and we have some healers - luckily....

The Exchange

I thought having a healer along might be handy :)

I guess I'll be laying on a few hands too ...
though I thought it would be just an extra supplement, but if we need it we need it... well when I get the ability..

M almost human

Hope we don't need too many.... - the first PPs will be used for a wand of CLW.

The Exchange

Have some RL things going on this week, so probably won't be posting much over the next few days. Hopefully at the end of it we will be bringing home a lovely new gremlin to add to the family.

If need be, please feel free to NPC Crar, but please don't kill me yet! I'm too young to die!! :)

Best wishes to you and your gremlin....not sure about washing it though :)

M almost human

Best wishes also from me. Enjoy the time, they turn into big gremlins far too fast.

Grand Lodge

Good luck with the little Gremlin. Is it the first one? And don't worry about the posting here. RL takes precedence.

I'm happy with both of mine and glad they have grown up a little. Will take them with me to OddCon and if anyone is around - you might sit on a table with one of them.

I am loving this new system! Making it much easier to keep things in one place!

Congrats Crar on the arrival of your little girl gremlin...

Grand Lodge

Congratulation from me as well.

The Exchange

Thanks for the well wishes guys. Will try not to get the gremlin wet. ;)

C'mon guys let's get posting...move this little beaut along a bit...

Grand Lodge

It seems a few people are waiting but nobody posts.

Latharel waits for either an attack on the imp or an attack of the imp. Anyone let me know if I just should roll a dice to help/assist Kernsten.

Might be good if the GM posts to ensure it moves on. Even if he just asks x and y to do whatever he thinks they should do next.

The invisibility seems to paralyze the group as it breaks the flow of a normal initiative and lets people to wait that something happens / someone makes something happen.

The Exchange

My posting might be sporadic over the next few weeks, though will post as often as I can. Don't let me hold up the group, feel free to NPC Crar if need be. Though if he dies, his ghost will come back to haunt ya! :)

I'll try to at least give an indication of what his plans/tactics are when I post, so hopefully if someone needs to NPC him they'll know what he intends to do.

What do you think is inside the box?

Yeah sorry folks, the lethargic pace has been my fault but I've been crazy busy this week so this is the first time I'm getting to post.

I'll be making an update post tonight following a trip to the cinema and I'll also try and keep things moving over the weekend. Next week should be back to service as usual!

Grand Lodge

A quick question - is anyone else coming to OddCon ?

I will be there with the whole family from Friday to Sunday.

The Exchange

Sorry, unable to attend. Where is OddCon held again?

I won't be there...unless I can escape from visiting the relatives in Stoke-on-Trent. It seems to be in Telford...a central choice and tantalizingly close to Stoke. But I could only get there for a couple of hours ... our niece has a baby welcoming party.

M almost human

Sorry, not going, all the Cons should take place far more in the north....

Grand Lodge

I'm sure you meant far more in the South.

Coming from the leader of the Sunrise Lodge UK - we guard that the sun rises every day and therefore have located ourselves exactly where the first rays of the morning sun reach this island.

No, just north - Scotland is a beautiful place.

Hi everyone, we'll be out of town visiting family, so won't have the opportunity to post this weekend. Should be back to post on Monday night, maybe Sunday if we're back reasonably early. Good luck with the boxes!

Grand Lodge

Female Human Witch 1

For some reason I can't post in the main thread.

edit: there we go, I added a period at the bottom and it suddenly worked.

Sovereign Court

Thod, I just remembered I said I'd give you my email address in this thread, so you can send me that chronicle sheet from OddCon.

email:
Calixymenthillian@hotmail.com

The Exchange

Nostrus, Everyone, apologies I haven't been posting the last few days. Been tied up with a few RL things that seem to keep eating all my time at the moment. Looking forward to the next task, wonder what we'll run into at the warehouse!

M almost human

Will be travelling to Germany from Thursday to Saturday, meaning sporadic posting. Just NPC Targ as you see fit.

Best open the door before Thursday then Pete ... :)

M almost human

Should be open now....
Btw., travel plans changed - Sunday to Tuesday now.

Grand Lodge

GM

How much more should we expect in this adventure?

I could introduce some new players at the local club next week Tuesday. First Stps would be a great adventure to do this as my co-GM also hasn't played it yet and I like him around if I need another player.

But if there are sunrises to come then I will need to wait a little longer.

Grand Lodge

Won't happen this week as I have a conflicting appointment. But still interested to hear a reply.

And I just spot a typo - sunrises should have been surprises. Autocorrect often can do that to you.
