A friend of mine sent this over to me.
Its images of sexy women in reasonable armor.

Blasphemy!

I guess 2 of the Pathfinder Iconics, the religious ones, are blasphemers. I personally prefer it this way.

Meh. I prefer to keep my cheesecake and my more realistic stuff separate from one another.

I prefer a balance between both the cheesecake and the realistic. Through I do admit some characters tilt more to one then the other, some were more cheesecake, others were more realistic, but most were balanced.

Some nice armor in there. The silver-haired elf is perfect for one of my long-running characters.

Thanks for the linkage! :)

There needs to be a Cheesecake Armor feat that grants a distraction bonus to AC.

Fixed that for you. ;)

While a lot of the "full suits" especially the PF ones suffer from Rob Liefield syndrome (unrealistic in the sheer numbers of things: pouches weapons, etc. hanging around getting in the way of maneuverability, the males suffer from this too) I do prefer them to the Red Sonja Bikinis form the Marvel omics I grew up on.

Then again I actually like Anne Hathaway's Catwoman costume from the new Nolan Batman.

Sczarni

So this means my DM was wrong and chainmail comes in forms other than bikini? ;)

Love the link! And I do agree that sometimes the cheesecake stuff if fun, but it's also impossible to get a really good swing with a greataxe when you're worried about a wardrobe malfunction.

Hmm..cheesecake armor. Wonder if I could get strawberry fringing on that....

I like it. Less exploitative female renderings (hopefully) equals more female gamers.

I think it does a lot as well to lessen the stereotype of the slathering male nerd obsessing over impossibly proportioned fantasy wenches.

I have no problem with realistic armor and still think it looks nice.

I am -loving- that tumblr.

Sczarni

I prefer realistic armor in general. I feel it adds believability and helps with immersion. Thanks for the link!

Here is my belief

if female warrior types (Fighters, Rangers, Paladins, Clerics and yes even barbarians) in chain mail bikini's, then the male's need to be portraid in Chainmail speedo's even if they are a paladin. OH and they all have to be built as if they ripped ala Conan

those are some nice drawings and yes they do look sexy in full armor. just one question, they can still wear the chainmail bikinis underneath right?
ps im wearing a chainmail speedo right now, it kinda chafes:P

"Long's they're complainin' th' same amount yer gold."

I like the armour in the site. The only exemption to wearing the infamous chainmail bikini that I liked was Red Sonja. For her, it was the fact she was suppose to be so good, that she was mocking them to hit her.

To me those look like cheesecake armor shots done by someone who prefers small breasted women. I'm not a skirtolgist, but pants seem the best way to do physical things in. You know like fight for your life.

The Tonga, the Scots, the Bedouins, the Muy Thai guys, the Arnis guys, The Hawaiian Lua bonebreakers, the Zulu's, and Utilikilt wearer's would like a word with you. When Chuck Norris had to shill for special spandex laden pants to allow him to kick effectively, I am unconvinced of your argument.

plus also: this is one of the actresses featured (cheesecake alert!)not sure what your definition of small breasted is but I guess perceptions do vary.

Wouldn't the women having too big boobs make the armor weigh more to cover them?

I'm not going to get into a debate about pants.

She looks large breasted in most pics/movies but the photo in question makes her look small breasted, as does pretty much every other pic. If they had the appearance of not being able to tell because of armor that would be one thing but several of them seem to go out of the way to indicate that the women are small breasted, regardless of the breast size of the actress in question.

A) Then why bring it up to begin with?

B) All the photos serve to show is that a rigid material like metal means you cannot make accurate assessments of the figure of the person wearing it. So your initial assertion may not be accurate.

A)I'm not getting into a debate about pants.

B) I'm not claiming that rigid materials like metal allows a accurate assessment of women's bust, therefore that is irrelevant. I'm claiming that although these pics aren't the worst of the cheesecake lot, they seem like they are there to present a still fairly sexual image of women in combat. Women being portrayed as having small breasts.

Breasts can exist without there being "tit-plate" you know. Just...just throwing that out there. You don't need big ol' titties stupidly melded into the armor in order to have breasts.

I'm a large breast enthusiast, and I don't find her small breasted at all.

I've found that beefcake is just as easy to find as cheesecake.

Some nice art there! Not going to get involved in any arguments over cheese/beefcake, female empowerment or trousers or whatever. Just .... nice art, thanks for sharing!

It's really easy to find big muscular power dudes in fantasy art.

Counterpoint: these pictures are also made for men, not women.

This isn't what most women enjoy. That's what men enjoy. This is what women enjoy. And I'm not seeing much Brad Pit in fantasy art.

I've never liked Brad Pitt. I like older more mature men

World of Warcraft is infamous for this armor trope. However they did recently create one armor piece which was sensible on female models and turned into chest beefcake when placed on males. Don't recall what it was though.

Not just "World of Warcraft" it is very common throughout MMO gaming.

Hmph. I personally believe the ratio of chicks in bikini mail to chicks in full plate is not too far from even, maybe even heavy on the "reasonable" side, but that the impact of seeing the former is so overwhelming as to cause the more sensitive to think the opposite is true. True enough to merit entire blogs, I guess.

I strongly disagree. I don't see this as chronic or epidemic as all that.

Dorkness Rising is fun and all. But I know a lot of women and girls who game, and none of us guys would dare mention bikini mail to them in any way other than humorous, and never without full fellowship with them in on the fun.

I do not remember seeing a dwarf in a chainmail bikini. Nobody expects the dwarf feminist inquisition...

Women fighters?! What kind of topsy turvy world is this?! Forsaking the heavily 'enchanted' and form-fitting priestly and/or sorceress-ly garb of old is a crime against man! Well, I'm just going back to my kingdom where this sort o' thing will never happen!

Bah!

We'll be sure and let the Dwarf Shield Maidens in full plate know you are coming and what you think of them.

Why hate Hugh? He's Good looking, seems to have a personality, and he has that ever so sexy Aussie accent. OH and he is not married to a bimbo name Angelina, not that he is not married, just not to the Bimbo Pitt is. But that's not why I don't like Pitt, I just don't like him, he is not my type :)

Dwarven...women...? Bwahahahahaha!! They don't exist! Dwarves build up their ranks by drinking enough ale and vomitting out another dwarf. I've seen it happen!! 'Went back to m' own 'topside' grog after that... *shudders*

Ha!

Chainmail bikinis are nothing special. My respect goes to those brave women who wear chainmail THONGS!

12 hours on horseback with a chain up your crack! Now there's a tough woman!

That sounds like a tourture device and it might chafe really badly.

You wear a leather thong under it you sill boys. Even Male Beefcake Barbarians do it this way. I imagine it would hurt them just as bad.

Dahar, of course, she be not quite as tough because of her penalty to physical attribute scores...

But a nice, high result on the bust-size roll!

HA, I had kinda forgot but this post reminded me of one time a GM running a Warhammer game made the female characters all roll a d4 for bust size. A-D for the numbers and the guys had to roll 2d6-1 for... well yeah... the guy that rolled snake eyes was not amused. :)
