I'm looking to bring regular Pathfinder Society play to Montreal, starting with a day of Pathfinder Delves to build an audience on Sunday, September 11th at Chimera Games (6252 Somerled Avenue, Montreal, QC H3X 2B6). I would love to talk with local Pathfinder enthusiasts about expanding Pathfinder's presence in Montreal, particularly with more Pathfinder Society activity.

Hi, Ryan! You maybe remember me at the Board game blitz at Roludothon.
Unfortunately, since I live in the east of Montreal, I won't be able if it finish late (8PM), and it would take 1h45 to 2 hours to go home.
I would be interested to play.
In the meantime, I will try to seek players at the Gamer's Vault and make game there, since I hear some people is interested to join the PFS.
Are you a hour for the audience?
To any Montreal people or in Quebec, we have a group for PFS and feel free to post in french or english, since :

So show up, mes amis!
Nope. But I would be happy to help out with any advice or whatever.
Drop me an email at my Venture-Captain address, or you have other ways to message me :)

Just saw this thread, and I wanted to let everyone know I'm planning on organizing a Pathfinder Society Organized Play campaign, with myself as Gamemaster. I would be starting with the three-part introductory scenario, First Steps, parts 1 through 3, before moving on to the first Season 3 Scenario, The Frostfur Captives.
My availabilities for running a game would be Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday evenings, and the venue of choice would be at Gamer's Vault. If I can get players, I can look into making reservations for a backroom, to avoid the big crowds.
If interested, please pm me, or email me at rolland.therrien@videotron.ca

Hey Ryan,
Im in MTL and would love to play with you guys.
Is your PFS plan still in the works?
Yes, yes they are. Had a bit of a false-start last saturday, when a Gamer's Vault RPG Mini-Con ended up badly timed due to Comicon being on the same weekend, but I was still there ready for players. I think that says something about my commitment.
So far I have two potential players lined up, which would make you the third candidate. Feel free to email me for details.

The turn out for the delves was only okay, and most existing Pathfinder players and store staff. I'll try to schedule another event, I'm just not sure whether to try a delve again or move on to PFS.

I'm not running but I'm going to try to make Rolland Therrien's Pathfinder Society: First Steps, Part 1: In Service to Lore game at the Roludothon tomorrow. Anyone who attends, I'd love to talk there about the future of PFS in Montreal.

Gang,
You may want to join the Pathfinder Quebec Yahoogroup. It is picking up and you may very well get more guys for your event.
If you need help, until a VC emerges in MTL, Neil (Ontario) or Me (Colorado, but Montreal-born) can assist you with any questions. (JP@Chapleau.us)
I could sometimes be coerced into running online events (and I frequently do with people across the province).

Okay, trying to organize another store event at Chimera, this time using bribery!
Saturday, January 7th, from noon-5pm, Chimera will be hosting a daylong PFS event. Everyone who participates will be entered in a draw to win a Pathfinder RPG Beginner Box and Pathfinder Battles – Beginner Box Heroes Miniatures.
GMs are on hand to run the First Steps Scenarios as well as other season 3 scenarios. If there is a specific scenario you would like to play, let me know here and I will add it to the list of scenarios we will try to play that day.
If you’re interested, let me know in this thread. The more heads up we get, the more GMs we can arrange to have on site that day.

I was there as well today, and I had a blast. It was my first time playing Pathfinder, and thanks to everyone who helped me out.
Another big thanks to you for organizing this. I had been looking to play for quite some time and it was well worth the wait.
I'm looking forward to the next session, whenever that may be.
Cheers!

Hey Ryan,
We've already rolled up a character for her. Want to use all the time we have to play.
She'll be playing a half-elf Rogue. Her stats can be seen here.
Cheers!

Hi Ryan,
I just had a question regarding the mule I have to lug my stuff around.
Do I need to put a rank in Handle Animal if I don't want him to run away when we get into a combat encounter? The description in the Core Rulebook seems to indicate that an untrained mule would stay around due to their animal characteristics.
Thanks for your help.

According to the Handle Animal rule, you need to teach animals to fight and to run away. Just hanging around while combat happens nearby seems consistent with the rules and a mule's personality.
Just a heads up, Pathfinder Society does have rules against reskinning (using the rules of one thing as something else that would work the same way). Given the intentionally flexible rules for animals from the Bestiary, I think this does not count as reskinning (the James Jacobs quote helps), and I'll allow it, but some GMs might not.

I just realised something. One advantage to playing in a French-speaking part of the country is that people wouldn't mix up "rogue" and "rouge" nearly as often!

Unless they play a red mage.

When we were drawing up her character together, and finally adding up her gear weight, she really had to offload some weight to forgo the encumbrance penalties. So she just wanted to get a pack mule.
After looking in the Bestiary through the horse and pony entries, I was scratching my head as to what the stat block was supposed to be for a mule. We eventually hit upon the quote linked in her profile to the advanced pony template.
The mule is listed in the CRB as costing 8gp (PG 159), with a tid-bit of info on page 162.
Given that's the mule is so much cheaper than a pony, we figured there had to be something different in its stats. Turns out to be a bit of an oddity in that it's cheaper, yet has slightly better stats than a pony.

Thanks for the info, and for allowing the mule. I'll tell her tonight.
Cheers!

I'll be there and you can count Branwen in as well again.
Pathfinder Society Scenario #3-09: The Quest for Perfection—Part I: The Edge of Heaven (PFRPG) PDF could be an interesting set to start. I realize though, that if a level 1 or 2 char comes in on the part 2 in April, it would be a bit of a loss to have missed part 1.
Alternatively, I was looking at Pathfinder Society Scenario #3-07: Echoes of the Overwatched, but I wondered if it would be fun to maybe play (from season 0) Pathfinder Society Scenario #5: Mists of Mwangi before playing this scenario from some of the comments I breezed over.
Also, I realize that we have selected factions already, but there's always the first steps scenarios for new players. I didn't read through those scenarios, but I did look quickly at the faction Missions paragraph to note that even though they assume the players has no faction, they do still give you the possibility of gaining 2 PP that can be applied to your faction total afterwards.
Any thoughts/opinions?
Cheers!
